I think your pace and showmanship are truly incredible! If I am ever able to see your show I'll definitely be there. You got a new fan. Bravo young man!!
Can't believe he can command a stage like this at his age! I don't think he comes off as presumptuous at all. It's his character. He's the slightly geeky super smart kid you knew in high school who you liked because he was just so damn smart, funny and polite. He is very authentic on stage. That's what performing mentalism is all about. Being yourself on stage. The superior superman version of your self but yourself never the less.
Such kindness! Thank you Steve for your lovely thoughts. Yes, I was the super nerdy kid in high school, you may have a future in Mentalism too! I appreciate you taking the time to comment and I wish you nothing but the best.
Mr Gibson, you are AMAZING, intelligent, creative and most importantly, you are ENTERTAINING.....Thank you for sharing your act with us and magic the world of Magic Brighter.
I just discovered you this year (thanks to quarantine and your TikTok account popping up on my For You Page), and I love the Psychology lessons (as well as jokes) you sprinkle into this show! As someone who is taking an "Intro to Psychology" class in community college right now, this information might help me later in the course! Thank you for the fun show, Mr. Gibson!
After watching Mark Gibson for the 1st time, he maturity on Stage and his control of the audience really impressed me. I've seen mentalists twice Marks age with only a fraction of the maturity Mark shows throughout his show. Would love to see him at the Magic Castle, but unfortunatly you need to be invited there. They don't take walk-ins, at least that's they way it was when I lived in Calif during the 60's - 90's. I can't wait to see Marks next show..
This is one of the best mentalism shows I have ever seen! Very good presentation and the effects you chose(calculator force, Banachek number force, Billet switching,) were amazing! I'm 13, and I am also learning mentalism, and from my perspective, this show was a dream show.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I was your age when I began performing professionally. Read all you can, practice, and I can’t wait to see you on stage too! Best of luck!
My favorite thing about this is that, when you mixed up the staple guns, I noticed the camera had enough of a view to track them, so I stopped and replayed it, frame by frame. I knew it was pointless to do that, because I'm familiar with related effects and what kind of safety is built into any version of the roulette plot anyone but an imbecile would even try performing, but I still wanted to, because part of my brain wants to believe. And I was rewarded for my troubles. See, the original #3, which had the real staples at the start, ends up in position #1. In the end, which gun is left? #1. Where are the staples? Gun #1. *so freaking legit.* Big applause from me.
Thank you kindly for your analysis. There is alot at play throughout the show to yield that effect, but it warms my heart to see the subtleties appreciated.
@@MarkGibsonMagic I would have loved your presentation without that detail, because the most important thing in magic is presentation and you have that down. But man, seeing that just made it *utterly perfect.* Thanks for making that detail happen.
@@teucer915 when I replayed and tracked it I got stapler number 1 being the loaded one, before it was switched to position 3 while the participant had his eyes closed. My guess is that none of these staplers actually fire any staples unless some sort of secret switch is pressed.
Awesome act!! Thanks for sharing! Great effects, script, pace, running gags... Well put together! As I read that you appreciate the comments, I give you only my opinion on a minor thing. I kind of missed some clue towards the end letting the spectators (and myself watching) know that the end of the show is coming. Prepare them for a big finale and make the final effect play huge, whatever it is. More energy, movement, doubts, big reveal and drama. I would like to see a performer challenging himself on the final effect and giving all he got. Only my opinion on that. But man, great show!! Solid performance. Keep it up and keep posting videos! I am already a fan ;D

Mark...I love you, man! haha. Your personalizing of your tricks in the show is wonderful, and the way you engage the audience is really nice. I do mostly card magic and just started my channel to show demos on video. I really like your sealed envelope routine and have a pretty good idea what's going on there...I was wondering, did you come up with that routine and method yourself? Because it is so clean, fun, and both engaging and astonishing for the audience! So if that's your original trick, congrats. I want to show that trick for my family this Christmas.
@@MarkGibsonMagic Thanks for the reply Mark. That is great, I've always had a ton of respect for mentalism and I incorporate some in my show. Thanks for inspiring me as an entertainer with this video.
Thank you kindly! I fully script and routine my own show. Some effects are original, and some are marketed effects created by other performers. Glad you enjoyed the show!
Mark Gibson Yeah XD. I was thinking it would be cool if you could use mentalism to guess someone's password on their phone but just make sure its not their bank pin or a number they don't want made public. Also I like how you include the audience. I have no idea how you did the staple trick XD. But I think you should present it as more of a comedic act. Like a businessman trying to staple papers, or a daughter's school report. Rather then putting him in an adversarial role where he is trying to put a staple in your hand. Finally make the audience the star of your show, like bring them up and have them talk, tell stories see what they have to say. I think that would be really interesting and I have yet to see any magician really tap into the goldmine of comedy that simply comes with ordinary human interaction XD. I'm no magician but I just like to think allot.
Hello Mark, I had some feedback regarding people who say you seem condescending... I think it depends on the audience. Perhaps you may have this effect performing at a local steel mill, but as a law student with prior part time interest in magic myself who has (obviously) been to college I can say people may take use of such vocabulary as a sign that you think they are intelligent enough to be on the level of your speech. You also define the lesser known terms you used, which an audience could find interesting (especially since it’s relevant to the act) rather than throwing them out there and simply expecting the audience to just know them (which could be presumptuous for uncommonly known jargon). If I am talking with someone about the law and need to use “leagalese” I will but will also define it for them. Personally I prefer a magician who shows some sophistication rather than those who come an stage trying to come off as an average Joe. I say good job. 👍

After the 1st minute I said out loud “I really like this guy”. Very likeable. You remind me of Leo de Caprio - do you ever get that? I know you have considered every nuance in minute detail. Your patter, choice of vocabulary, tonality, you have an arsenal of one liners that you adds flexibility. You clearly leave nothing to chance even though you lead the audience on believing it’s all chance. The camera angle allowed me to track the staple gun and I was HOPING the guy would choose #1 so I could prove my theory. But he actually did not choose it. Haha I don’t believe you were influencing him for a second, and I think you got lucky. That trick is simply not repeatable. I have a theory that involves safety catches on the staplers. But as far as this show went, that certainly is hard to explain if you actually did influence his choice as you say. I’m a card guy so I know how the card tricks are done. Re the book, there is no possible way you can see the future, so the word was prechosen and if I can talk in code like Penn & Teller, I would say the device you used to move down the page, while innocent is actually not innocent. However your misdirection on the spectators psychology is to be applauded. You are very likeable and I ended up watching the entire show on normal speed. I don’t normally do that. Your suit is stylish. You have a sophistication about you. You are stylish. Your “nerdy-ness” is part of your like ability. You are charming and respectful. I respect you immensely because you are a perfectionist dude! Nothing is as it seems. Everything is done for a reason and that resonates with me. I have slammed many seasoned pros as being amateur.
