BUDDYMOON DAY 718/1000 (VLOG 273)
After owning our converted transit van for only a couple of hours, we attempted to spend our very first night in the van in Scotland, UK.
We were not sure if we were quite ready after only having one day in order to get everything we need. But we were ready for the adventure and to see if it really would be like we thought it would be.

Can I recommend that when connecting the electric cable to your camper you connect the cable to the van first and then to the mains. That means you are not carrying a live cable across wet grass. When disconnecting, just reverse the process. Stay safe.
Thank you so much for this. Will keep this in mind and do it that way next time😁 we are so new to this so really appreciate all the tips and advice 🙏
Hi fellow South Africans and fellow camper/vanlifers from the UK.We just back from Scotland and spent two nights at The Paddocks and that same horse does not understand South African lingo lol Loving your videos and a suggestion for a name of your new camper,BUDDYMOON! If you need any advice please let me know.Travelled the beautiful Scotland many times.Love from a South African living in Manchester
Michelle x
I would also add- don't leave the cable coiled like it was, uncoil it and lay it randomly, if coiled and with a load on it it will heat up and possibly melt the insulation. (an electrician). Enjoy Scotland.
Red Rocket!
Aww such nice and generous neighbors!
Welcome to Scotland. You are a beautiful couple with infectious personalities. You made me smile. I admire your attitude. The best of luck to you both, Michael x
Sink plug is the correct one just push down on the plug that seals the sink lift up to release the water lol 😅
Unfortuonatly our sink didn't come with a plug and the one we bought doesn't push down enough to trap the water. So we will have to keep looking until we find one that fits or perhaps get a silicon one 😊
I carry a rubber disc that I cut from an old inner tube. It's very handy as a sink plug and fits most sizes. Many campsite and public bathrooms have missing plugs.
That's a brilliant idea😁
@@thebuddymoon just buy a washing up bowl from any supermarket or homebargains/b&m etc and put it in the sink
Use bog roll or a bit of cloth .. stuf it in and the force the plug down on top of it to make a seal .. not perfect but it will get you by until you find the holy grail of plugs to fit 😆
Welcome to Scotland guys, youll love it here. I get away in my van as much as possible, you must visit the isle of Skye and all the other islands in the hebrides. Harris and Lewis is mindblowing.
Yes heard the Isle of Skye is gorgeous. 😁Will definitely make a plan to visit there sometime in the near future 😁
The van looks fantastic. Looks like you have your hook up cable wound up - DANGER. it could catch fire in that configuration. Always un coil it when in use. Always connect the cable to the van first before connecting to the post. Good luck.
This is crucial. Great info. Lots are unaware this could happen.
Thank you so much for these tips😁 we really appreciate and will make sure to incoil and plug the hook up into the van first next time 😊
How majestic are the mountains!
hope you both enjoyed my country 😊 looking forward to following you're journey
Love your beautiful smiles wherever you go in the world!
Your new van is a gem which is why I think Ruby would be a great name for your beautiful red van ❤
In the USA we call them snow capped mountains.
Welcome and enjoy.
Ahh what a nice couple you come across as. Such happy content. Looking forward to more.
lovely people, very brave. You need to get insulation for the windscreen and all the the glass windows.
So much love❤❤❤❤❤
Congratulations for the new carvan ! 🎉
Beautiful location beautiful country❤
You stayed at Invercoe, love it there! Lovely to see how much you enjoyed the trip to Glencoe.
Safety feature on gas hob. Push the main gas dial down while you twist it on, then it will fire using the ignition spark.
You guys finally did it ! Looks amazing 🎉
Thank you Wyatt😁
How exciting! Welcome to Bonnie Scotland 😍🏴👌hope you have a wonderful time,my suggestion for the vans name is Heather like your first beer and Scotland’s national flower 🤔👍.✊🙏❤️👊
Great video - I have not seen you before but really enjoyed this and I loved the scenery .
Well hope you stick around to see more😁😁😁
We just left there on a short bank holiday weekend at ‘The Paddocks’….spacious pitches but website stated it was fully serviced pitches but when we arrived there was no grey waste drain at pitch, luckily we brought our grey waste carrier and used the main ground drain beside the toilet block. Lastly the toilets and showers were clean and great, only criticism was the showers not being private cubicles, it was basically 3 showers in a row with frosted glass. So once you had a shower you basically had to dry yourself in the shower and wrap a towel around you and dress the old fashioned way outside with others. Not an issue for myself, but some people like privacy and that just wasn’t it, would have been nice for 3 cubicles made for both men and ladies. 😊
Good luck on your travels. A few things., put the power cable in the van first and then into the power supply. More worrying is your gas locker, it needs a drop hole in the the floor, the gas box has to be sealed from the inside of the van. Smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm. Please get these bits fixed.
Hi Guys. You can get an App on your phone to check your level when you are on a campsite. Enjoy.
Amazing both of you, I hope you both have the best adventure and just enjoy it ! Great video
You are a happy couple and have a good attitude while putting your van together while enjoying Scotland. I can't wait when you start exploring the country

I love it, you guys are amazing, good luck and happy travels❤
Thank you so much!!😁
Just found your channel and now subscribed, you seem like a fun pair!
I remember my first time being in snow, when I moved to England (was about 10) & it was one of the heaviest snowfalls they had, had. Was amazing so I understand your excitement! Look forward to seeing your adventures to come :)
My favourite part way seeing child like smile on your face when you guys saw the snow . I can relate to that too well. ❤❤❤
omg.. just came across your channel. so funny. loving it. enjoy living free. you got your self a new subcriber
It would be good idea to put a high capacity water tank on Van Roof side, u will save energy on pumping water and it will be more safe and hassle free to clean.
Excited to see who you meet and the places you go to in the UK, so much to see Buddymoon
We have amazing videos planned😁😁 can't wait to show them to you😜 absolute legend for the constant support❤️ thank you @Ckrisg1

So excited to show you our journey😁 we have sooooo much planned and look forward to showing you future videos😁
Welcome to Scotland, hope you enjoy and have safe travels. Maybe see you around
LOVE your first sight of snow! I didn’t even know Ingilston had a campsite so will need to visit there in our touring caravan Peggy (towed by a car). Looking forward to your next vlog. Have subscribed and hit the bell! the yellow triangles under van wheels (levellers) and a spirit level are well worth investing in so you don’t have to sleep on the wonk. 😅 PS Still think you should call the van “Buddie” after the Paisley Buddies 🥰🏴
I can’t stop watching now, how amazing is Scotland! I’ve only gone in the summer! Definitely inspiring a winter trip!😄😄
So fun to watch ! Van life adventures will be a must watch videos. Thanks
So glad u like the video😜😁😁😁
Just found your video. Love your brand-new van. 🤩
You both have such carefree attitudes and that makes your videos enjoyable to watch. We already live in an RV and it's fun to watch newbies. Lol. Such a beautiful couple. Good luck. Subscribed..
long journey ahead. good things happen to nice people. I've been following you guys since Vietnam. Good luck
Yay…. Hope you enjoyed the vietnam series😁😁
Really enjoyed watching you with your new venture. I'm looking forward to the rest of the UK and will be watching out for you in ?????? 🤔😂
Just found your channel and subscribed! Looking forward to following on your journey. Enjoy the west coast of Scotland- it truly is a magical place.
Thanks for Subscribing😁😁❤️
Your positivity and Leannes smile brighten every video ❤
The only reason we want to make videos is to be able to bring a smile to your face. So it means so much to us when you say that it does🙏We appreciate all your love and support ❤️
@@thebuddymoon Thank you it's fun experiencing your adventures with you ❤️
I enjoyed your video.
Thanks 👍
Very cool drone shots 😎
Welcome to Scotland guys. You are going to see some fantastic areas/geography,so don't sleep too much 😊. Oh and lakes in Scotland are called Lochs
Glad you guys are enjoying! What a change from hustling and bustling Asian continent to Cold European continent. Enjoy guys!
A big change and a completely new chapter. But we are excited for the adventures ahead.
Asia will always hold a special place in our hearts and we will go back and visit as there is still so much to explore ❤️
Great video guys really enjoyed it. If you’re near glencoe again in the next couple of weeks go to the ski resort and take a trip up on the chair lift, you will get proper snow up there 😀. We have an old joiners van that we converted ourselves and are out and about all over Scotland so might see yous in the passing defo won’t miss the big red van. Looking forward to watching you’re adventures 👍
That gas bottle compartment should be sealed and vented to the outside. Also, don't leave EHU cables rolled up when plugged in.
Scotland looks lovely. Hopefully we will get up there in our van one day. Loved the video, first time watching. Love you guys. 👍👍
You guys will love it😁 so glad you enjoyed the video❤️ was a fun one to make😜
Pleeeeeaaase! Always connect your hook up to the VAN FIRST, unreel your cable, and then connect that to the Electric Supply. When you disconnect, take the supply end OFF FIRST. One little nick in the insulation, and you standing on wet grass with wet hands - you, my friend will be TOAST!! If it is raining, it is essential to wear rubber gloves, just in case the connection end is damaged.
So cool and Scotland really is amazing ☺
Awesome Guys, the west cost of Scotland is amazing. well enjoy it and live each day as tomorrow is promised to nobody... great content.
New subscriber here … I love your excitement of everything being new ❤️ Remember to always call Lakes Loch’s in Scotland 🤣❤️🏴
Thats absolutely amazing loved the vlog u both are so sweet couple god bless you stay safe ❤
Welcome to scotland guys , great video ❤️ what you got there with the guy with the heater is typical scottish campsite hospitality , maybe bump into you guys on your travels 😃
Fantastic video, well done ❤
Thank you very much!😁
LEGENDARY NEIGHBOURS! Cool video folks!
How awesome were they😁😁😁 people are too kind😁
Haha I was like that’s Bishopton, not often I see somewhere local on CZcams ❤ van looks great 👍🏻
I'm so looking forward to your adventures trust me you will have a fantastic time. Atb Michael from the UK. 😊
Thanks so much Micheal😁 look forward to this adventure and have a feeling its gona be a good one😜
Incredible Scotland 🏴🏔️
Loved your video. Amazing looking van and a cracking couple. I would recommend you check drone policy with the CAA because filming from inside the vehicle not having your eyes on the drone at all times might get you in a bit of bother. 👍
Hey guys yous missed the deer at kings hotel at glen Coe they come down from the mountain to say hello and it's the hotel bar just before the big metal bridge. Also glen etive is stunning just after the metal bridge to the left. You should also do the nc500
RUBY, think about calling the van Ruby. Rubies are treasured gems, and I hope your journey creates treasured memories. Have a great journey. Looking forward to watching your travels.
Love that idea and thought behind the meaning. Thank you @Debbievine😁
Wow!! All the very best for you new life. 🎉 The Hobbit. The name of your van
I was confident that you both would continue to entertain and make it a success. Your authenticity and teamwork are your strengths and it shows. I'm looking forward to witnessing the beginning of your van journey and eagerly anticipating more to come. 😃 Another suggestion for van name = Ladybug (red and black colors).
Awhbthabk you so much. We really looking forward to sharing these adventures with you😊 I love the idea of naming the van ladybug❤️
Awesome videos, I won't miss one. I wish you many beautiful memories in your Van (Red Buddy maybe?)
I like Red Buddy hehe 😁
what a cheery video!! where was the campsite next to the water, have a great time in Scotland, I'm going up to clachtoll on Tuesday with my grandson, can't wait!!!
That was so much fun!
What you referred to as ice was just snow that has been melting. My lawn has a bunch right now, lol. (Canada)
Snow in all it's forms can be a blast to play in, but not with bare hands. Like that electric heater, gloves will be a game changer.
:)
Absolutely amazing! Wish I could buy a van and just travel the UK like that... Its pretty cold and wet there though. Even during Summer it rains.
Was there for 3 months and it gets dark at like 4 in the afternoon during Winter. You should definitely prepare for Winter times. It gets FREEZING there! like minus celsius degrees. The one day it was -7 degrees celcius and wasnt even in Winter time. I think you guys are there now during Spring so should be fine. Cant wait to see your videos for the next year! Love you guys! Greetings from back home! ❤
Warm welcome ti bonny Scotland, hope yi fair enjoy my land x
nice first run there
You guys will do well with camping and youtube .
You are doing this at the right time of year. In the Summer you would be eaten alive by midges. And campervan traffic gets bad in the Summer. As well as the Highlands, pay a visit to the east coast of Scotland. It's less busy and has lovely places like the village of Penang, Dunnottar Castle and the orange cliffs of Arbroath on the coast.
We have lochs in Scotland not lakes, hopefully you enjoy the rest of your travelling time in Scotland, free Scotland.
That place looks freezing! Stay warm! Anyways, maybe you can place a vinyl sticker on the engine hood of your van with the buddymoon logo 😊
Soooo cold, was thinking of doing something like that so will see😁
Randomly put this on as it looked interesting and low and behold my dad is in it telling you about Rob Roy 😂😂😂😂
Small world as they say.
Love ur video.amazing places.be safe.god bless.love from India
Just stumbled across your channel you guys were cracking me up. Definitely subscribed. Enjoy your van life I’m just in the process of converting a van and if I do you have to pass that heater on that’s the uk rules 😂
Passing on the heater, that's a brilliant idea😂😁 Thanks for subscribing🙏 cannot wait to share more videos with you. And all the best with your van conversion. Maybe we will see you on the road sometime❤️
Sounds like we gotta see the buddy van in buddymoon❤
Call your van the BUDDY HOME, loving your channel
So glad you enjoying our videos😁😁😁
Well done driving van for the first time.
@18:12 mark made me laugh out loud! 😆 love you guys! keep up the great adventures.
Hahahaha luckily the camera is fine😜😂😂😂 thanks so much…
Greetings guys, Dan and Leana of South Africa 🇿🇦! I'm Jade new supporter watching you from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 it is good to check you guys on your journey and I hope I will spend good time with you.
And it's nice to meet you by the way!
Amazing video. Living in a small space requires just the necessities. And everything in its place 😆 It'll be a great adventure, I'm sure. BTW, always have a lighter. 🔥🚌❤
Also, skimmed milk has the least fat 😘
U guys are sooo sweet❤❤❤
Great video guys. Welcome to our amazing country 🏴 can i ask what campsite you stayed when you were in Glencoe.
Good luck with your travels
Glad you enjoyed the video😁😁 loved Scotland😍 we stayed at a site called Invercoe Caravan & Motorhome😁
Welcome to Scotland and to your new van for touring.
Agree with the connection of the EHZ electricity, van first, mains next. Reverse to disconnect.
Take that stupid water hose back and ask for a refund. You should only use a blue food grade hose, which you can buy online or any caravan / MH Chandler. Some sites may also stock / sell them.
You don’t use a garden hose as the insides can delaminate and contaminate your water supply.
Look forward to following your travels. If you are passing through Perth, give us a shout, drop past for a coffee.
We have just downsized from a larger 7.5m Coachbuilt to a 6m panel van conversion, so some compromises and changes ahead.
Best Wishes
Stuart
Thank you so much for advice…😜 we all so new to this but learning… our hosepipe is a bit terrible but a little late to return it but it should still do the job…. We hope😂😂😂 will definitely give a shout if we pass though Perth… thanks😁
you should go to a place called Portmahomack ,its a beautiful village
good job best regards
Welcome to Scotland ,enjoyed your video ,have you tried to push your sink drain right down as it should work as a plug and a strainer
We're motorhomers and always p,ug into your van first then plug into mains next and always unwind your cable to reduce the risk of it going on fire
Hope you enjoy our land we have subscribed
From Fiona and Gordon from bonnie Scotland
You can get a little vacum for the condensation on the windows
Excellent start to the new adventure! One thing to note is please open a window when cooking and using the stove. It will help keep mold from building inside the van and is just a good safety thing to do 😊
Enjoy your travels in Ruby (as in Ruby Red!)
Cheers from 🇨🇦
THE ARE ADULTS ...YOU SHOULD NOT NEED TO TELL THEM THIS ....FFS.......CARBON MONOXIDE........DO THEY HAVE AN ALARM ?
Thanks Bryan, the extractor vent is always open when we parked 😁and will be sure to open a window too. Definitely don't want any mold.
Love the name suggestion BTW😁
The vents on the roof are open when cooking. But yes we do have a carbon monoxide alarm😊 Also do keep in mind we new to this, so all suggestions are welcome.
