First CS2 Major, Total Disaster

- čas přidán 9. 01. 2024
- We are just days into the open qualifier for the first ever CS2 major and s**t is already hitting the fan.
We got teams cheating, constant delays, a whole slew of technical difficulties, and a team of TO’s that aren't resolving anything.
This was supposed to be the true start of Counter-Strikes new era but things couldn't be worse right now.

CS2 has made the entire CS community clinically insane
Bold of you to assume it wasn't already.
Always has been 🔫
Couldn’t agree more.
I uninstalled cs and steam 7 months ago and retained mine

CS2 is truly the CSGO killer, but what valve failed to mention was it was a murder-suicide
Suffering from success because Steam is their money printing machine and they're just indie company
Valve is the killer of their own games.
Facts
Valorant's doing really good at the moment. I recommend trying it out
@@akumati86 you mean that edating game thats filled with cringe tiktok kids ?
I think one thing that went under the radar in the middle of all this shitstorm is another " big " problem
When you are a team without an HLTV page and face a T1/T2/T3 team, they restarted servers multiples times to give a chance to the pros to connect
I was supposed to play against a top 100 HLTV team for my 2nd match of the qualifier and they didn't connect, timer reaches 0 and a solid 5 minutes later, they join and get ready but server crashes, we automatically think that the server just shutted down because they got DQd for No show but the server actually restarted and they did the same 2 more times making us wait for 50 minutes before having a 4th server restart and them getting ready.
We tried reaching out to the admins with video proof but got basically left on read
I don't wanna act like the victim but I heavily think that admins are led to "help" pros to go further in the tournament because it happened to other small teams too.
The thing is, for some of us, this is a way to get a chance at being scouted by bigger orgs and such behaviour just let us fall under the radar when the circumstances should put us a step closer to the spotlight..
This is interesting
This has been a thing for a while. I specifically remember issues playing CS:S on ESEA back in the day, but that was before the scene exploded. It is sad to hear that teams are still having problems with admins, I sympathize man I know it is annoying as hell. Worse to know you would probably be forced to eat the DQ if the shoe were on the other foot.
@@joevader10 It was indeed frustrating to see this much effort being put on their side on none towards us but in the end we just took the L and will keep on grinding lower tournaments after the RMR. What else can we do ? Nothing apart from moving on
there is a saying, that if you sell your soul and cooperate with everything your relevancy will rocket rise i mean, there is always this one kid or these 1-3 kids that just scientifically appear out of nowhere into the mainstream media and sometimes i just think that there is definitely something going on behind the scenes and i think correct me if im wrong there are new hosts on challengermode and i think they are just there for the money and not putting their effort and time into this line of work. but these things you tell have happened to say mny people with insane talent, because cheaters, under the radar ddos, etc, this problem is so known in almost every esports related game that its become like being a billionaire that only the top 1% get the recognition or top 0,1% for the bigger games
@@JupiterVolume2wait so you got eliminated because the server wouldn’t start? How is that remotely fair?
Remember that almost all of the software surrounding tournaments is developed and maintained by the community. Valve does very little to make CS2 easy to control from a tournament perspective. This was always solved with plugins (SourceMods, usually). There isn't even a stable modding platform for CS2 yet, so expecting everything to run without hiccups is... fairly naive. The game itself clearly wasn't ready at release and the server support was almost entirely absent. (Source: I maintained Get5 since covid)
Esport ready they say
What you see is what you get
Acros were always bad
It's is not just about the problems players have during matches. It's also about broadcasters (observers). As an experienced observer, currently it is not possible to have map overview camera binds while you are at CSTV, however you can have them if you are in spectator mode, but once again there is another problem. If you want to have campaths during live, which were possible in CS:GO, you simply can't, because CS2 doesn't have a command - spec_lerpto - yet, so you need a program called HLAE, which is technically a cheat, but there is small problem... You can't even connect to CSTV server, because direct connection to the server and CSTV has VAC (in CS:GO it was possible to join/watch GOTV with HLAE while VAC was enabled in server). Only possible solution is to disable VAC completely, so you have to rely on third party anti-cheat.
In CS2 I have observed 2 tournaments - both couldn't afford third party anti-cheat for it. First tournament admin didn't want to run server without any anti-cheat, so, in broadcast, there was only some static map overview cameras, however in second tournament we decided to disable VAC (we didn't have any anti-cheat to it) and also closely monitor all systems trough one LAN Caffe software to see which task were running in background.
I can imagine and I hope, that ChallengerMode will do the same thing on LAN, unless Volvo fixes server and spectator problems before Challengers stage.
(Source: Liquipedia (and *HLTV) OlyBet CS2 Baltics and Kleverr virslīga Season 1)
P.S. For the second tournament we used MatchZy server plugin, which is based on Get5
How long did it take them to release CS2? Players of this game remind me of people in an abusive relationship that don't know when they need to leave. Hint: the answer was years ago.

Nothing makes me happier than cheaters ending up in official tournaments to show Valve that this actually is an issue all the way up to the highest level lmao. Maybe they'll actually do something about it now.
Would be dope if you did a video on the Movistar KOI run, only 9 days together, get eliminated by proven cheaters, get told they are back in just ten minutes after starting and go all the way to the finals. Also between 50 and 60 k people watching it at the whole time.
A bit too early in my opinion, several mix teams in the past have gone through a similar cycle during a major run, making a deep run in the major would ideally deserve a video.
As a TO/Admin, something to understand is that every issue that comes forward takes time to resolve. In no way am I defending this from happening, but typically having hundreds of issues come through for a short staffed team is almost impossible to reach out to everyone within a respectable 5/10 minute time period, especially when being asked to review footage of potential cheaters and then make an accurate judgement call. Any DQ's or punishments typically need to go through a senior, which just adds more pressure. It's most likely just down to a logistical error, something I can't imagine they'll admit to making
It's actually crazy how many people cheat. It just goes to show that not everyone deserves a good life. Yes, its "just a game", but just cheating really reflects who you are as a person and I can bet that they are scumbags in all other aspects of life.
damn right.
Wake up babe, theres a newly discovered "cheaters are bad" to "TND" pipeline
Idk why they do it, I genuinely don't get it
I really don't like seeing closets/legit cheaters, if it comes to hvh then yeah, It can be fun and chill
Using the team select menu to get info is hilarious (AND cheating). The shit hasn't just hit the fan - it's hit the fan, tipped over, splattered everywhere, scared the cat, hit the dog, and broken a few floorboards. My friend has been watching some bigger RMR matches and we once sat in a pause for over 15+ minutes just watching because players kept having their games crash on BOTH teams.

Watch the majors, iem cologne and katowice, maybe sydney then blast fall, spring and world finals. They are the biggest events. Basically majors are twice a year the only truly open t1 tournaments and are backed by valve and have the most prestige. Then comes cologne and katowice they are the biggest non majors. Blast premier stuff is big but not as big as those I mentioned already
@@morst4755sydney is always a must, its a very entertaining tourney with the crowd interaction
liquipedia has a schedule of every S tier tournament that's scheduled for this year. i usually just look at that. i watch some a tier tournaments too but a lot of lower tier cs isnt even broadcasted
Listen, cs has a few pretty defined S-tier tournaments, and then there are many more in between them.
Basically there are 2 majors a year (=world championships) with the highest prestige there is. They are totally open so anyone can qualify, play and win them (yes, even you). They have first online open and closed qualifiers (from 3000 teams to 32). After that, there is the LAN RMRs (1 for each region). The teams that win the RMR go to the Major Challengers, Legends and Champions stage. In each, only half of the teams advance. And the Champions stage are the playoffs (quarterfinals, semifinals, finals).
Apart from the Majors, there are ESL Tournaments (NOT VALVE SPONSORED). They are IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne (usually teams invited by ESL rank list with points and winners of ESL Challengers tournaments) are normal tournaments like in any other esport.
ESL also has ESL PRO LEAGUES (2/year) which are 5 weeks (each week 1 group stage) and final week are the playoffs.
Then, there is BLAST. There are BLAST SPRING FINALS AND BLAST FALL FINALS. These are huge and winning them (or getting points in them) leads to BLAST WORLD FINALS which is usually the last tournament of the year.
In conclusion. Every month there is an S-tier tournament (except in January and July) and there are A and B-tier tournaments every other week which usually grant spots for the S-tier ones.
It's a very packed schedule but people just can't get enough cs if you know what I mean :D

Its crazy they got rid of CSGO so quick bc the release of CS2 was only like an open beta . They should have kept CsGO for the first 6 months
agree, cs2 release was better than cs:go this is fact, but they could have extended it
My friends stopped playing, the community is more toxic than ever, more cheaters than any other year that I can remember. “What you see is what you get”
Tbh with you I've long concluded that the CS community deserved their rampant cheating issues. With their forever chronic fear of this little thing that rhymes with lernel-kevel vnti-airus I doubt anything can get any better soon. And yeah yeah risk this and risk that, but really do people think things can get magically better if they just complain hard enough without actually trying to compromise? At this point, it's not even fear-mongering anymore, it's just refusal to take advantage of a technology that has proven useful and good by their contemporaries.
I knew it was basically a rug pull when they took csgo store page, basically all the reviews are now fake because they were reviewing csgo, and since they're adamant it's a new game, then all those positive reviews on the cs2 page are void and artificially inflating the community perspective of this being a good game

2nd comment : If u think supreme/global > level 10 on csgo, you're just delusionnal.
@@alexalexdu37390 Yes in fact I am the smart guy here given both my career in software engineering and my rational and critical thinking that this community has proven to lack for the past few months.
1. Yes I do. Valve doesn't make the tournaments' software or the mods to run matches, nor do they provide admins or moderators. They just make the base game and oversee the tournaments. Anything that didn't work outside of the gameplay is PGL's fault, and from what I've been able to hear and read, it mostly definitely is.
2. Here's the proof that what I'm saying is true. You can't accept the fact that there's a higher percentage of players in level 10 than in the two highest MM ranks combined, and therefore 2k elos are not much better than a LEM. I see this every time I find faceit players in my lobbies and they go malding because they can't understand why a MM player is beating them. If you want I can give you a masterclass on faceit's levels and elo ratings but you just need to accept that right now being a level 10 is not that special.
VALVE on their way to lose even HARDER to another riot game
cs2 is still better then valorant
valorant 6 months in is forever worse then cs2 6 months in
@@racctoons Which is ironic since Valo just won best ESports awards in TGA2023
its not though. you will barely ever find cheaters for the most part on valorant.. yet cs2 is already a shit hole for cheaters@@racctoons
@@sarcasticdragon8673so was csgo wasnt any better than cs2 in that regard and yet it was still better than valorant CS2 is a 50/50 and not cuz of cheaters
Lol CS fanboy are just copium at this point😂😂😂
using faceit would have been just too damn easy.
unbelieveable.... they fucked up counter-strike so much. it could've been so much bigger
Maybe now pros will understand what the average players go through in normal matchmaking, especially cheaters.
Ah PGL again. Classic. And can we guess if Valve will keep radio silent
There still some No Name Players with 0.97/0.87 kd with an aimrating of 93 with 2600 elo. All History is Red(banned accs) and they can Just "aim".
maybe they just have a good day.

Gabe has outdone himself with the new HNFV50 event. Kudos!
the admins apparently also don't know shit about cs, as during the qualifier one admin said "he could hear your knife pullout animation"???
garbage game, they refuse to even address that there is a problem, please just rerelease cs go with 128 tick and win back the praise of 95% of your players, cs2 can remain a beta for another 9 years
Valve's HNFV50 event.
