Converting a Box Truck into a Flatbed

- thegeekgroup.org/ - Atlas, our 20 foot box truck, took on a low hanging bridge...and lost. After having a good chunk of itself ripped off the top of its box, it was towed back to the lab, where several people worked together to convert it into a flatbed rig. The process proved to be very difficult, and it took several days (and tools) to make any sort of progress. Once we figured it out though, taking walls and head of the box off was a breeze. Now, with the kind donations of several straps by our members, we were able to put the truck back to work, and continue day-to-day operations her at the lab!

And this is one of the reasons that you need people like Chris (on a good day!) in charge. No recrimination, just "make the best of the situation".
Could cut with circle saw with a 60 tooth carbide blade using the outer aluminum rail as a guide. Now you have Flatbed with short side rails
OH MY GOD that's a lot of work and time to disassemble a box. Couldn't you have just popped the whole box off as one unit?
Ya...
$500 plasma cutter would've made quick work if this route...and I didn't see the torch they claim. Oxyacet wouldn't have bothered w supports lol
A minivan on the end of a broom handle... never heard that one before... I'll have to use that next time I'm wielding a sledgehammer.
and continue day-to-day operations HER at the lab! ;)
i can just smell the "OPPPSSSS"
Just go under a lower bridge :p you can make cab a convertible for those summer days.
Those are stainless bolts so they're not rusted, you should be able to just take off the plywood on the inside and then remove the bolts. Seems like it could be easier.
I have to do the same thing to make my truck into a curtainside.
aw thats to bad about the truck , but at least yah made the best of a bad situation and were still able to use it . good one guys
Los rematches se quitan con broka
Man I bet Enos felt like shit for that mistake. I feel for ya dude, that's something I would've done. I just don't think about those kind of road details. Hell, I'm the kind of person who can get lost on a straight road without any turnoffs. I'd be going north instead of south or some dumb shit. Still, a flat bed truck is quit handy for certain things. Enos did you a right solid. :)
Check out Tesla Magnifier coils. ;)
Can u say zip saw?
and that is why i love The Geek group!
step 1: remove plywood inside. step 2: try a metal cutting blade in a skill saw (should slice right down the line easy) OR plasma torch
Is atlas a portal game reference?. ;p
nice
Good Video!
These guys don’t have any idea of how to properly make a box truck bar into a flat bed not even using the proper tools what a joke
