- Dr. Vigen Guroian's wonderful book Tending the Heart of Virtue was a bomb of a book in my life. I read it, and in a lot of ways, the reading of it paved the way for me to seriously approach the art and craft of telling stories.
So when Dr. Guroian decided to publish Volume 2 of this book with added material, it took me all of three seconds to immediately set up a conversation with him.
Dr Guroian is a delight to speak with, both eloquent and witty. And please go and buy your copy of the book!

I saw your interview on Pints with Aquinas where you suggested Tending the Heart of Virtue for people trying to get back into reading. I finished it recently and I absolutely loved it. Very much looking forward to watching this tonight after work.
Excellent conversation! Where can we find this complete story of the ugly duckling?
I've been meaning to sit down and watch your youtube and finally had some time! Great episode and I am inspired even more to become a grandmother with great stories that bring beauty and truth.
The worthiest of intentions! And thank you for the kind words
Great interview, Dn Nicholas.
Thank you for introducing me to Dr Guroian; I look forward to getting his book.
Blessings to you from the redwoods,
-Paul
Great interview of a great thinker. Thank you, Deacon.
it was my great pleasure!
Purchased the audible and kindle version 5 min into the interview! Also started reading Andrew lang's blue fairy book.
thank you!!
Found your podcast as I was making my way back home to Holy Mother Church. I'm a fantasy author, and In A Certain Kingdom was a Heavenly treat, and it was so inspirational to me.
I love the analysis of fairy tales from our Christian perspective. It's so wonderful to see the allegory and symbolism.
I've been following your journey, and I bought Raven Son recently. Loved your interviews on Legend Fiction, Pints, and Symbolic World.
Will you be returning to AFR for another season of In A Certain Kingdom?
Can't wait for more!
There will be an official announcement soon, but I'm planning a new fairy tale podcast soon!
@@NicholasKotarauthor Yes! Praise be to God! Looking forward to it

One addition: I‘ve seen Del Torro‘s Pinocchio and I am quite fond of it. I don‘t think its about „expressing your true self“. More about: „aligning yourself with the heavenly hierarchy through a purgatorial process of death and rebirth for incrementally higher purposes“ (in this case: Ego-pleasure, worldly nationalism, self-sacrifice for the father, who is a craftsman for Christ).
But maybe it is just me projecting.
that's fascinating! I haven't seen it, but I was going on what Del Toro himself said. But let's be honest, sometimes the author/creator isn't the best judge of what his work is actually doing!
Hey, Nicholas. Will there be a third volume of In A Certain Kingdom? Cheers!
Yes there will! Not sure when though
@@NicholasKotarauthor Great to hear. I very much look forward to it!
