Winching over a Leaning 130ft Oak Tree with Rootball Attached

- This 130ft Shaggy-Bark Oak had root damage after a couple hurricanes came thru over the last 7 years. The root ball would noticeably move up and down during high wind storms, and the tree swayed side to side. over the last year, it began leaning towards the house. Time to bring it down before it fell on the house. Rather than cutting a hinge and trying to Wedge it over, I rigged it to be winched over, rootball and all.

All of that preparation paid off. Excellent takedown.
Nice job sir! Thanks for the video!
Thanks!
Great job!! Good thing you were observant noticing it moving with the wind.
Why not cut it while pulling? Just curious. Love how you did it, have a similar situation and trying to figure the best way. This looks best so far.
I probably missed this, but what sized winch were you using on the truck?
I plan on doing this in October. Anything you would do different next time?
Get to loppin' and buckin' boys, the hard part is still ahead!
Very good setup! Good video
Thanks for watching.
I did something similar years ago to a large hard maple that had died out and only the main trunk remained standing. It was a big tree, and it was nice to use the tree to pull the root ball out and get rid of both of them. Amazing how much a little machine helps!

Great work! Glad it was taken care of before this wild winds we are having now! Whew!
Thanks for watching! Yep, we timed it right; its been windy everyday since I pulled it over.
I could sure use your help and advice on a 100’ plus a few live oak in my backyard onSt. Simons Island, leaning towards house.
The older man didnt even move... lolololololol
Very interesting. Thank you.
Nice work! You didn't mention the winch size. Do you recall how much force it took?
Nice... keep safe always...
Definitely enjoyed that, nice pulley setup!
Thank you. It was fun to setup. Good commercial for Ford Superduty.
Nice job safer than trying than cutting it with a chainsaw + now big roots left in the ground
Thank you.
it's still a threat, but not to the house and still unsafe to anyone cutting on it.
Would you consider making a donation to climber in desperate situation after large equipment theft?
