I'm still playing Red Faction from 2001 on PC, sooo ooold, but so good. I don't know why but the game is just amazing!

the original red faction was for ps1, not sure how long ago that was. red faction 2 was for ps2 i believe, but actually had less geo mod in it. geo mod was one of the best ideas never to be implemented in any significant way to game physics.
they're making red faction 3 now, and from what ive seen, the geo mod in it should be pretty awesome, as it brings the current consoles' abilities to bear.

geo-mod should've been commonplace by now. it's kinda sad that 99.9% of games that say they have destructible environments just have a few items that turn into chunks, but if you shoot a rocket at a wall, all you get is a black mark on it. its not that we dont have the technology, its been out since red faction 1 came out for the early PS1

well, if it didnt originally come out for ps1, then that's where it shined best. in any event, that's not the point i was trying to make, its that geo mod hasnt been embraced by the vast majority of game designers, when it would add volumes to the realism of any game.
think about graphics for a moment: for a long time, graphics were considered a big part of what made a game good, of course there are proofs for both sides. nowadays its gameplay gimmicks. but eventually itll be stuff like geomod.

The original was only for ps2 and pc as far as i know, it might be on more consoles than that.

"the original red faction was for ps1"
    No, it wasn't.

the original red faction wasn't even released on ps1 at all. Red Faction 1 was only released on the PC and the year was 2001. RF2 I believe was released on PS2, Xbox and PC (Correct me if I'm wrong)

you aren't the first person to mention that, but it's irrelevant. the point is that the technology to create realistically destructible environments has been out there for many years, and it's not taken advantage of because of game developers laziness.

hmm, you know what? your right tinletta.
for a long time i thought that the copy of red faction that i had was for ps1, but your comment made me go check it out (so i could mock you about it), turns out it was a ps2 disc. I guess red faction didnt come out on ps1, and i'm typing this with egg all over my face as a result.
I'm willing to admit most of the time when im wrong or mistaken, and im saying im wrong.
but i think we can all agree games nowadays would be better with gmod, rt?

He's such a bullshitter, barely any destruction compared to the first game. You could mine into boulders and mountains in the first, you can only blow up flat surface in this like REALLY thin walls and objects. Crazy downgrade.

lol enhanced geo-mod. more like smaller scripted crappy pillar geo-mod. they updated everything but screwed up the geo-mod, i like how they go about as if they improved it when they weakened it
