Oh my gosh, Michelle, it is terrific to see you so happy! The garden looks, as Tony the TIger would say, "Grrrrrrrreat!" Asters are good food for the monarchs as they migrate down to Mexico. I've had five monarchs on one plant. So you are still helping them! :)
Thank you so much!
I agree with these comments. You did great! I’m in Zone 7 NJ clay soil, shade. I enjoy seeing sunny gardens even though I cant copy Starter works great. Now I think I’ll try snapshot. At 75 I am slowing down with weeding thanks for the tip. Michelle, thanks 😊
Beautiful! Great job! Designing and placement is always a struggle for me. Deer and rabbits are another struggle. But with your help, I'm learning as I go!
It's the best when the design you envision becomes reality and you love it. Happy for you! Love the color pop of your Veronica drift and the Penstemon will be absolutely lovely when it fills in.
I totally agree!
Michelle, another great job! on speed up, you look like an energizer bunny, I'd have a heart attack.
Lol
Wow! That was great and fits my situation so well here in Iowa. I have clay soil on the south side of the house and always fret about what I can grow there. So much inspiration!!! Thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Looks terrific.. the plants are beautiful together💜
Thanks so much 😊
Love, love, love to watch you garden. I am in Iowa so I get information on what I can grow here as we are in the same zone.
Wonderful!
Great job. Everything seems to be doable and sustainable for the long term and will only fill out and you can enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Michelle, fantastic job! I love all of your choices.
Thank you so much!
I'm a new gardener in NY and I'm so happy I found your channel. You are Awesome!!
Welcome!!
I think it's going to look beautiful for several years. Yeah! My dear husband bought me an auger in three different sizes to use in this clay soil. They fit right into his drill and it makes things so much easier. You do have to get down close to the soil, it doesn't have a rod on it so you can stand up. Those type are out of our price range.
Always fun to watch you plan and plant your gardens. I learn something new every time. 💚😊💚
I'm so glad!
Beautiful! I love Veronica and just planted 3 this year. I planted a spirea this morning.
The new garden looks beautiful Michell
It looks beautiful, and I think you’re just great!
Oh thank you!
It's going to be beautiful. I already like it. I love your ideas..
Thank you! 😊
It looks fabulous! Love everything about it. 🧑🌾
Thanks so much! 😊
Greetings from Ireland, Great job and lovely flower bed, Its the bees knees.
Many thanks!
I love it, Michelle. Looks spectacular!
Thanks so much!
Your enthusiasm makes these videos delightful as well as informative. Ah, the gingko tree, what a magnificent tree with almost neon yellow leaves come fall. Avoiding the female ones is wise as the fruits have a definite order. The Proven Winner spirea bushes is fabulous news due to color, size. Yup, this garden will be spectacular in a couple of years with the maintenance decreasing. Well done.
Thank you very much!
Love it! I have Veronica,too. It’s great.
I love it!
I love it all sista!!!!
So nice for you to have that done, I remember you stressing how overgrown it was, and now it has breathing room, texture & color! It’s beautiful! Of course any bed with Veronica I call beautiful😂
Thank you Michelle, great job!

Thank you Brenda 😊
Such a gorgeous bed!
Thank you!! 😊
Wow!
Beautiful!
looks beautiful! thanks for sharing.
Looks soo good. Nice selections. 💕💕🎶🎶
Thank you 😋
Michelle, I mulch with Espoma land and sea compost. The next year my soil improved dramatically.
I would love to do that, but alas, that stuff is pricy, and I have way too much sq. footage to cover. But I do like the idea of composting vs mulching...it is about finding a product that is more small mulch than fine dirt, and one that won't break the bank.
Very nice. I’m planting a new bed in my garden which also happens to be clay. I hope my plants will make it.
Best of luck!
Looks great !
Thanks!
Awesome, it's so beautiful.
Thanks a lot 😊
It’s funny 😆 to me how the Different content creators suggest doing the opposite. I’ve heard some say put the synthetic fertilizers in the hole. And some say Biotone is like sprinkling money in the ground because it’s not necessary. I like to hear what everyone has to say and then develop a “best practice” for myself through trial and error.
Good practice.
Do you ever use gypsum to condition clay soil? You're bed looks great Michelle! Love the Sarah Bernhardt peonies, beautiful and smell fantastic...I have them too. The ants are working on opening them😊
No. It does not always work and it would be expensive for such a large area
It’s beautiful Michelle🌱Another good design. Is Yarrow evasive?
Some are
The garden looks AMAZING!!! I saw your weeping evergreen and I was wondering what kind that is and how tall will it grow? I would like to have one in my backyard but I need it to stay under 20'. Congrats on the design and outcome....perfect!! Thank you
It is a weeping norway spruce. Will top out at like 15'
@@gardeningTLC Thanks so much!!
It looks great, Michelle. But, I'm not sure if I heard you telling us what the sun exposure is in this bed. I thought most of your plant selections require full sun, but I noticed the boxwood & hostas...
It gets full morning sun...as the sun travels over the house, the hostas get shade....boxwoods will grow in sun or shade. So some of it gets 6 hours and some, further out, gets 8-9 hours. Very little of it gets blazing hot afternoon sun...maybe the farthest edges get a little.
Beautiful ❤❤❤ great job!! I have a spirea that is very similar to the Double Play Spirea, and before I was really into gardening I haven't pruned it very leggy! Can I prune it now and would it bloom again?
The best time to prune spirea is after flowering or early spring.
The bed looks so pretty. You did a great job. Just curious how the cicadas have been by you. I’m in N.E. Illinois and they are pretty active here.
I have seen a few live ones...a lot of discarded shells...but no damage...keep my fingers crossed.
Love all the choices you picked I cannot wait to see your garden grow! Question, how long did it take for the Baptista to get that big? Mine is so small with three or four shoots. I think mine are two years old.
I started with 1 gallon plants...I'd say 4 years....
@@gardeningTLC ok, thanks! I can wait but I can’t ha!
I'm inspired for my own Northern Illinois garden! Would you happen to have a list of the plants you used?
In the design video from December. It's linked in the description.
What do you think about gypsum to break up clay soil?
I think the area was too large, and it would have cost me probably 800 bucks to add it. And I did not want to wait for it to work......months...and it is not always a 1 and done......
Question on the Double Play Dozzie: mine had beautiful red flowers earlier in the spring. Now the blooms are brown. Should I prune them? Will they bloom again after pruning? Thanks.
I would....watch for aphids on new growth....did your flowers get nipped by cold?
No, flowers didn't get nipped by cold. It's been in the 80's most of May. Hot and humid
