    Btw, you could save a lot of time on the beginning of the video by porting two of the intended models in, then selecting one of them in the outliner, and in the attribute editor, go down to drawing overrides, enable overrides, and Display type 'reference' (in the dropdown menu). That way the reference model cannot be selected in the viewport, and you can use it for reference the entire time while working on the clothing, as well as keeping the both objects perfectly centered the entire time. Also, when selecting the portion that you want for the clothing, go to Select 'Inverse', and hit the delete key, then you will only have what you want left. You can also select the reference model in the outliner and click Display 'hide' - 'hide selected', if you need it outta your way in order to view your work.

    Finally thank you Mike
    My process for clothing is
    Create it in MArvelous Designer then export it to Zbrush
    Finish it up in Zbrush, create seams, weld it together
    Then take it into maya and then substance painter

      @@MHTutorials3D Np. Admittedly I skipped through a lot of the parts in which you were customizing the piece, but in around 2-3 minutes, I learned at least two helpful things that will be very useful in modeling clothes, and honestly, that's more than I usually learn watching long drawn out 30 minute videos with the person taking quiet and slow(which really rides on my anxiety..). Plus you didn't over explain the simple stuff, which also really gets on my nerves when people do that.

    Very relevant content, man, does having thick clothing interfere with rigging, wheight paint? In the case of an animation does it use thickness or not? Let's suppose I bring a marvelous outfit and do the retopology, then it will be thick, right, I hope you understand what I mean. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    • @cameronsharpe6647
      @cameronsharpe6647 Před 3 lety

      entirely up to you. The base model is pretty ugly and not the best topology but I use the base model from maya with pretty much any character I start and then take it into ZBrush and model it up nice, importing it back into maya to retopologize and then marvelous for clothing but doing what mike did will still give you passable results just not very individual.

    I disliked this video not because the information was bad or even unhelpful, but for the fact that so much time was wasted in getting to the point of everything and not having the tutorial planned out. The sponsee in the middle is extremely distracting and takes away focus, and the “hmm, let me just figure this out in the middle of filming” bit that could have taken you five minutes to figure out and plan before actually recording.
    Not to be super negative about it. I just feel like the tutorial would be more helpful to people learning the material if it isn’t just slapped together on a whim. You know what you’re doing, but sometimes it’s helpful to plan out how best to explain it to people who may not understand it in the same ways.
