Who is a good candidate for the TIF procedure?

- I will say from my standpoint as a surgeon, I oftentimes in the past have been hesitant to offer patients a surgical anti-reflux procedure because there oftentimes have been real lifestyle changes and differences that patients notice. So they really needed to be in a category of where they felt like this was something that was necessary for them at this point. And, you know, they thing that I would say with the TIF is that I certainly still, patients need to undergo appropriate workup. They need to make sure that this is something they are interested in. But, I think that the limitations, they symptoms they have after the procedure, are just really night and day. So, for me, it has changed how I approach the idea of treating reflux - offering patients who are interested in being off of medications or concerned about the potential side effects of medications, this is a procedure that I have really embraced because I think it offers real benefit and can allow patients to feel normal after hanging their procedure done.

Doctor can you tell me why the Hill procedure isn't recognized a Tif and Nissan.... Thank you.
My TIF Procedure was done 5 months ago and symptoms are back up to 30%. In another 6 months I think 100% symptoms will be back and TIF will be past failed experience. Just note, I took all medicines given by dr.
Do you have an explanation from your doctor why the TIF procedure did not work for you? Did something go wrong? Will you have the procedure again, or a similar procedure? What are your next steps? I am considering having this procedure so I'm very intested in learning more about your experience and your outcome.
@@JoyEll Hii JE, see everyone is different. I am from ME where dr makes a lot of money out these procedures.
I was consulting my dr for many endoscopy and other tests since many years because I hav strong family history of Stomach cancer. I hav to do endo upper after every year to make sure nothing is inside.
But on the other side, I hav alot acid reflux issues especially kind of regurgitation (like u feel Or hear voice of something bubbling up in ur throat voice like karrrr). It was all the day, night, morning driving me crazy. On top, sometimes during drinking water, once reflux comes it choke the water on the throat.
All of these takes the dr to decide tif. I said ok if this helps. After this process and of long medications symptoms are back. Again throat acid....so on. I had a strong fight with dr tht u hav done nothing. My issue isn't solving i m visiting u for years. I told him you tell me tht u give up and u cant treat me anymore. And my tif is failed. He said no no. He gave another test kind xray or scan which tells the place where acid refluxes... non conclusive.
After the test which was resulted ok he called me n said all okay. But just this throat acid is coming from ur mind. Reduce your stress...blah blah.....i didnt want to listen him anymore. I hav another in person appointment in Jan, will may go again to him.
Here we dont hav much choices to change dr.
Note just in case I did tif in Mar 2023 and now is dec 2023 all acid coming to throat with a kind of voice u can hear even tarrrr is back. Almost the same like before tif. Sometimes acidity is there u feel. I am still inconclusive or trying to understand what tif helped me? Where is the value of the efforts i put in place. I still dont know why he did tif...
