    Nice ALPINA, thanks for the ride, I had 1 back in the day super tight woods bike somewhat like the Sherpa, only thing Alpina's will & would, Wheel Stand on you in a second if you give it too much throttle in the lower gears, I got dumped off more than once, all in all a great bike.Good video.

    A lotta people hafta practice a lot to even do a 180 degree pivot turn, but you made that 360 degree one look easy. Also, a whole lot different with only about 6 inches of suspension travel compared to 10 inches on the DR and DRZ. Keep up the good work. Love your videos.

    Third time I see your video. It looked like what I did, 1973 this bike was dope as a muthah fuckah. We rode in the rain forest sometimes. Crossing rivers up to the gas tank. Couple kicks, flush it out, this one ruled .

    The bike looks light and twitchy with a lot of torque ready to buck you off like a skittish green horse. On the other hand you like a giddy man reliving some childhood memories.That exhaust probably scared off half Of Washington state's wildlife into Oregon and Idaho. It's all fun though and I liked the way you laughed when the bike kick you off.

      Technology at its finest in 1972 is quite antiquated by today standards even compared to the 20 year old technology of my DRZ and DR. Fun bike but yes it is very loud would love to change that. I do have another mid pipe muffler that is suppose to be quieter but not sure I want to do that yet, Thanks Michael!

    I had the '73 250 Alpina. My first motorcycle, paid 500$ for it. I loved it. Had some porting done and it would relly go. Always started on the 1st kick. However, the chain tensioner sucked. It was a poor design for something so necessary with a woods bike.

    • @brandtagone8487
      @brandtagone8487  Před 6 měsíci

      Yeah they sucked. A couple years later they redesigned them and turned them around. The rubber pad did work on the earlier models which solved the falling off the chain. Issue. Thanks man!

    say you put a pursang jug on it ? Guess the power band is a whole lot different ?

    • @brandtagone8487
      @brandtagone8487  Před 5 lety

      The Pursang jug and the Alpina jug measure the same dimensionally so there should be no difference in the power band but I could be wrong. I had Hugh's Bultaco do the work and they did not mention there would be a difference but I could be wrong. I guess I did not explain well in vid but the reason I went with the pursing jug was it was the best jug available at the time. If you have more info on this please let me know cause there is a slight hesitation on the throttle that I have yet to work out, Thanks!

    • @stovepipehahaha272
      @stovepipehahaha272 Před 5 lety +1

      well the porting would be different causing the power to come on at different rpm's. The alpinas had a very low power band for trials and woods and such where some of those pursangs had a much higher powerband and almost no low end power. The pursangs also had a narrow powerband for racing. That could be why its hesitating at low end. They will load up and cough if you try to run them at a slow rpm. Most earlier pursang jugs would not be very suitable for trail riding but best used for balls out motocrossing or flat tracking. @@brandtagone8487

      @brandtagone8487  Před 5 lety

      Stovepipe Hahaha thanks gonna take head off and check number stamped on it. According to Hugh the pursang would be different but I think they were the same in which case I was sold an alpina jug. Let you know on monday thx man!
