- Joseph Heller (May 1, 1923 -- December 12, 1999) was an American satirical novelist, short story writer, and playwright. His best known work is Catch-22, a novel about US servicemen during World War II. The title of this work entered the English lexicon to refer to absurd, no-win choices, particularly in situations in which the desired outcome of the choice is an impossibility, and regardless of choice, the same negative outcome is a certainty. Heller is widely regarded as one of the best post--World War II satirists. Although he is remembered primarily for Catch-22, his other works center on the lives of various members of the middle class and remain exemplars of modern satire. - Wikipedia

God bless Joey H. I think and read your stuff every day. Catch-22 best book ever written ,"my opinion", and runner up Closing Time. Joey H is a treasure without the right words from us. From me=The Best Ever
Am reading catch 22
Enjoying every page of it
Bivek and Peace I got it as a gift and now, having just finished it, I ordered all of Heller's books
Read it about 5 times. Classic. Believe it or not his book Something Happened is even better
This will be a feather in your cap 😉
We've upped your missions - you have to read it 55 times
Dude was a huge early influence. I've read all three mentioned. Catch was definitely the best of the three. Something Happened was great, but very depressing. Good As Gold, well, I was in, like, 8th grade, so I may not have gotten it all. I remember basically liking it though.
thank you so much for posting this
Thanks for putting this up! There's too little Heller on CZcams! And in the culture -- Good as Gold alone should be required reading for every American. It only gets more relevant. And it may be the funniest book I've ever read.
Forever known for Catch 22.
More please!
Kiitos
