Honestly, the ring is irrelevant, as society is so focused on selling that as a market prize to make more profit for themselves. My parents have been married for over 30+ years, and neither of them ever had a ring. But even now when they go on a walk, they still hold each other's hands. I think it's more important how you feel about your spouse than a ring, as it becomes irrelevant at that point.
