That simulation pilot had his hand out the cockpit, middle finger up, the entire time.
The only problem is in a real situation the fighter jet won't be dancing infront of the cannon.

For being a realistic military sim, that ammo count for the turret had to have been very unrealistic. And the flare count for the jet too

I sent know about the count being unrealistic. They probably have as much ammo at there disposal as they want but I would be more concerned with how hot the barrel would get shooting burst after burst like that
The phalanx is designed to take out incoming missiles, that jet would have been gone after the first burst getting that close

A fighter jet is more expensive than those bullets and missiles, much more, it is like an antitank shell is much more cheaper than an armoured vehicle. War is about economics too.

I feel I ran into this fighter jet on Ace Combat 7 after releasing rounds of ammo and exhausting all missiles chasing the jet only to be mocked and shot down by only one missile from his jet.. and I can only imagine he or she is laughing away on other side 😆

The m61 vulcan (which I assume this setup is simulating) has a fire rate of 6000 rounds per minute. Or 100 rounds per second.
It fires huge ass 20 mm round so you can store far less a number of them at a place.
And all other rotary canons of this class have similar characteristics.
Meaning? That CIWS would've run out of ammo long before.
I believe the Phalanx CIWS fires around 3000 RPM, but you’re still correct that it would’ve run out of ammo long before it shot down the plane, especially since the mag capacity is around 1,500 rounds.

Love the fx. Very realistic. However. Gforces don't seem humanly possible for a sustained attack. Replace the attacker with a 4th gen drone... That would be cool.

Bro, the AI is designed to engage objectives and threats that they can detect. If you put a plane on one faction, and the anti air system on the other, do you want the plane to leave the map so it's more realistic? C'mon man, it's just a game, and the AI is designed this way

That eurofighter AI was good.. in real life, no fighter jet would hang out that long and that close next to ground to air defense, so if this was real life, the phalanx would not be effective.

First off, the ammo drum on the CIWS doesn't hold anywhere near enough rounds to fire for that long without reloading. Second, the barrels would be utterly destroyed with that amount of sustained fire.

Good military training the pilot did an excellent job with fighter jet, but the concerning question that's always in my mind what happens to the sea, lakes or rivers and the land where all these missiles and bullets are lending what impact do they have in our environment.
