My husband and I don't feel like we "own" each other and although other people's choices might be different from yours doesn't make them "selfish." However, to make these superficial comparisons is wrong and ignores specific forms of oppression, the systemic racism Black people face and its origins. Marriage equality does not protect a Black gay man from being beaten in the streets, shot to death by a racist police officer, or denied a job because of his name and his skin. Similarly, Black lesbians are not immunized from the racism and sexism that come with being a Black woman. And in contrast, white gay men still have white skin privilege as white men; for example, closeted gay conservative men who, in the halls of power, continue to enact oppressive laws against disenfranchised groups. Gays have a struggle as well and although similar to the civil rights movement, there are also vast difference's....the more you know..........

But how is it any different then having divorced parents who re-marry, or having parents that cheat? Those kids would then have 4 parents. In this case the children's parents all love one another and have an open stable family unit. Idunno if they are all happy it should be fine

My thoughts exactly, the healthy behavior you display should come 1st to who the partners are. Raising kids that contribute to society and respect others is essential to being a parent in my opinion (I feel like saying "is this "healthy" to expose the kids to this environment" is a small jab at people for threatening the norm they want to maintain). " you're sick...and we accept that, but you ARE gonna quarantine yourself from the kids, right?" Lol, we are all such ass holes to each other. We should have a "Impose my Views Holiday" to make a joke of ourselves.

  • @roove1537

Honestly, I feel as though Dani was pressured into accepting this... Dani clearly indicates that she doesn't feel completely comfortable in this relationship. I don't know how unsatisfied she really is, but it's obvious there are some issues. Melinda just brushes it all off. Of course, they have to appear happy while on tv. I can only wonder how happy they would look without being on camera.
*This* is the main issue I have with polyamorous, polygamous, and polyandrous relationships. They can become one-sided very easily. For example, in polygamous and polyandrous relationships, the one man or woman will pick a favorite husband or wife. They may not straight up admit that they have a favorite, they can insist that their marriage is pure and wholesome, but they will certainly prefer certain spouses over others. In a polyamorous relationship, two people can easily become attached to each other while the third becomes distanced (that seems to be the case in the video).
These types of relationships also become convenient excuses when one partner in a monogamous relationship wants a third spouse. I've seen enough relationships where one person will start welcoming somebody else into their marriage without the full consent of their spouse. It's often a man who tries to pressure his wife into a polygamous relationship, but I've seen a woman pressure her husband before.
With all of this in mind, I do believe that it's possible for 3+ people to be married and all be perfectly happy. However, the issues I've pointed out are worth looking at.

tail feather there are other types of polyamorous relationships though. A lot of poly people will have a primary partner who they might be legally married to, live with, and have kids with, while they have other minor relationships going on. I definitely agree that’s it’s not really practical to try to love each person equally, but not all poly relationships are structured that way.

I am a poly person at heart, and seeing a poly family is like a dream come true for me. The only problem is trying to FIND other poly people in order to bond and connect in such a way. My relationship goal of being happily married to two beautiful, loving men will most likely never happen, especially not where I currently live. What's even more disappointing is that women tend to be bi-sexual more often than men, so finding a man that would be willing to be a part of a poly relationship involving one woman and two men is extremely hard. Most men are conditioned at an early age to believe that women are only interested in monogamy, where as men can sleep around with whomever they want and not be judged for it. It is extremely frustrating that people actually believe this ignorant condition to be a natural, healthy way of life for everyone. Is it natural for a lot of women to want monogamy? Yes. Is it also natural for a lot of women to want poly? Yes. It is natural for any and every human being to want to be happy in their own way. They shouldn't have to conform, unless they are harming others or themselves, or in cases of where one or more of the party is a minor. The fact that we women are shamed, and called "sluts" or "whores" for just wanting to love freely is disgusting, yet when a man is in a relationship with multiple women he is praised? This world is completely sexist and disgusting. Sorry, but I will never be monogamous. Ever. Being with one man, and ONLY one man, for the rest of my life does not, and has never, appealed to me in the slightest. I'd rather not be bored, or end up divorced later in life because our sexual and emotional needs cannot be met just between us alone. I'd also never force a man to give up his own basic, natural sexual instincts just to satisfy me. Humans are sexual creatures, it was not meant for us to stick to one partner for our entire lives. We need change. The only reason why monogamous relationships can, but often do not, last for a very long time is because the couple changes things. Without change, they would not still be together.

+Nyx Kere As a woman it's very likely to be different (I'm 100% sure attracting a woman and a man work differently) but I'll tell you what I do/did as a man maybe it'll help:
      1) Attract more than one person towards you
      2) attract them enough that they won't mind and will be open to it
Attract them first. Someone who doesn't know you won't be open to anything you say. Then throw here and there what you think clearly but sutbly (when she talked about two/three exes that were still into her, and asked me what to do, I said "go with the three of them - do you know what polyamory is?")

+Nyx Kere Another thing, men do get judged too when they sleep around. What do you think happens among male friends when a guy tries and brags about sleeping around? You think we all go "ooo you're so cool?". No one is impressed by him either. Please do not turn this into a women vs men issue. Like seriously we're tired of hearing your "women's issues" that really aren't women's issues and are just everyone's issues. Gawd.
The reason why monogamy doesn't work out rarely anymore is because women get a lot of benefits from divorcing their husbands. The court systems and government are completely on their side. They have all the power. Got bored of your husband? Who cares. Divorce him, take his children away from him, leave him with nothing and then sit there and say "patriarchy hurts men too" when people point out that men commit suicide at 4-6x the rate women do. No. Hateful selfish misandrist women hurt men. Oh but that's right, women controlling our educational institutions have *dictated* you can't be sexist towards men. Right... I forgot about that. Fuck, why did you have to rant on like feminist twat and piss me off.
Also, polyamory isn't about constant change. These people plan on being together forever. It's still a static relationship. It's about being in a COMMITTED relationship with more than one person. In a committed relationship with the same two men for 10 years you not going to get bored of them? If you do you feel self-righteous enough to just divorce them, leave them take their children with you because of your female privileges? Better yet, you can just add a 3rd, or a 4th or a 5th... or however many you want.
Nah, as a polyamorous male I look to being in a committed relationship with both a man and a woman. I highly recommend NO one be in a relationship with you. You don't sound like you get polyamory well at all. You sound like some bitter teen girl indoctrinated by feminist tropes.

You sound like you live in the city. Good for you. As a person who lives in the middle of nowhere in the south, women are treated exactly as I said where I live. Men are praised for shaming and leaving women every single day. The more women they abuse the more popularity they receive from their friends. Granted, this happens with younger men only, from 16 to possibly late 40s, and the elderly men are more respectful. Here's some truth for you -- AMERICA HAS HUNDREDS OF DIFFERENT CULTURES. Caps just because I don't think you'd be able to understand without them. Not every single man in America is a respectful human being, it all depends on where and how they were raised. You would know this if you were even half as intelligent as you're trying to act.
You're bitching about "woman problems" being false and unimportant, and yet you yourself are disrespecting and insulting every single woman who has been through a divorce? You are truly a sexist pig. Every woman you've been with may have been materialistic whores, but not every woman gets a divorce just to get half of whatever the man had. Especially not in the country, where we are poor because of low income jobs. When a woman divorces in the country she doesn't give a damn about the money. She divorces because she was being treated poorly, or because their relationship wasn't working out. I'm sorry you've only found greedy whores to be with you, but I can assure you not all of us are like that.
Did I say a poly relationship wasn't a commitment? No, I didn't. Poly relationships just aren't commitment in the sense of the whole "one true love" bullshit that people try to force on you. There is no such thing as a one true love. In fact, love doesn't even exist. It is a chemical imbalance that happens in your brain with meeting with either a person of attractiveness, or even just a person who shares a close interest with you. This obviously means you can form "love" with more than one person in your life. A true poly person does NOT force others to stay with them, nor should they be forced to stay with others. If you think you can hold down your partners by force, you are a horrible person. You should never force another human being into a commitment. They have to choose. And being committed does not mean you will FOREVER be committed. As monogamous people divorce out of relationship issues, so do poly people. We are not perfect. Our relationships don't work 100%, all of the time. We are human beings, and as human beings we go through problems with other human beings. This can include your partners. So to force your partners to commit for eternity proves that you are a horrible human being. You are not giving them a say so in their lives. They have to choose to want to be with you. If they fall out of "love" with you, then they deserve the right to leave. I would NEVER force any man to stay with me if he did not want to. If he wants change, and a different woman, I would gladly let him do whatever he wanted and feel no pain because I am not a greedy human like you. I care about people's decisions, and thus expect them to care about mine. I would never be in a relationship with a sexist pig like you who thinks they can force themselves onto others. Also, in case you were wondering, I am a twenty-six year old woman. If you think everyone who wants and believes in poly relationships are children, then you are sorely misinformed.

I never said women come first lol someone's a meninist prick. Women don't get the shit kicked out of them like men do, but that is because women naturally are not physically strong. Women have more manipulative mind control over other women, and can hurt someone with words more than any man can. That is why women often times don't get physical in fighting, they'll just yell. And being called a slut is far more demeaning than being called gay. If you are called a slut, you are viewed by men AND women as a slut. The women will not respect you. The men will harass you. You will not be considered girlfriend material, but instead just considered a sex object instead of a human being. If a man is called a faggot the only people he has to deal with is other men. The women will not insult him for being gay. The men alone will. Women have to deal with both sides, men only have to deal with one. Do men get physically harmed more than women? Yes. But not by women, only by their own gender. Only their gender finds homosexuality to be wrong. In the eyes of both genders being a female slut is wrong, and you will never be respected by either sides.

lacking in those regards. There is a reason that the divorce rate is near 50% and that cheating is such a very common thing. It's because most people suck at relationships. The kinds of people that are able to make a polyamorous relationship actually work are, quite honestly, probably the most stable functional loving trusting people around. It's just too sad that so many people aren't capable of even making a single monogamous relationship work.

They all broke up, I think people forgot that’s it’s not just more fun and convenient, but also more arguing that over little things. It’s hard enough to date one persons for a long time but imagine 2 people each with their own differing opinions on how you’re doing something slightly wrong in the relationship. I’m not saying it’s impossible but it is way harder emotionally

Personally, I don’t fully agree with this in terms of there being jealousy or it being one-sided. I’m afraid Dani’s eventually going to leave, and take Ella with her.

We can only really know the true ramifications of this lifestyle once the children grow up and can speak for themselves about how their parent's polyamory effected them, whether negatively or positively.

Because love and acceptance usually ruins kids. Should stick to the 2 person marriage where over 50% get divorced and 35% end up in a nasty court/custody fued...seems like those kids are much better off

It did great for me! My family runs with a lot of learning disabilities do my brother needed more attention but with four parents it wasn't that big of a problem and I didn't feel like I had to fight for attention like most people I see that are like me ( has a sibling with some type of disorder )

if all 3 people do love eachother, then there shouldn't be the same problem that the woman in this documentary had

I am all for it but it would be difficult to find someone who fits/loves like we do. Oh well if it's meant to be it will be. I also always joke that he has to be the one to tell his mother if it happens. Lol

All these videos show one being left out and uncomfortable with the situation, with the initiator confident there's no problems, avoiding the stress that comes with confronting the original partner.
