- When Anomalie performs live, his band uses virtual instruments and triggers events in Ableton Live 10 (along with live instrumentation.) This technology is vital when translating his studio sound to the stage. Today, Nicolas Dupuis (a.k.a. Anomalie) & Co. join us in the Reverb studio to show us how it's done.

It pretty much is
The mere arrangement of this live set is a masterpiece in itself
They ripped this idea wich is a masterpiece
Yo this is absolutely huge, had no idea that if everything was in one instrument rack your only using one core. To everyone involved making this video, I really appreciate it! Thanks so much
i literally just subbed to you cuz of this comment hahah
You know what anomalie needs to do. A series of how he arranges his live shows...like everything!!!!!!
always wondered how Anomalie switched sounds without touching any patch changes. This dude set it on autopilot with pathing. Genius
I needed this and no one more qualified to show us than this guy!!
I've watched this video a couple of times, and I still have a hard time comprehending exactly what's going on, but still so amazing to see the levels
From Studio To Stage has great tutorials on how to do all this stuff
Ive been wondering how Anomalie changes sounds so fast and smoothly on the fly without racks and racks of gear! Ableton level 100!
These guys are insane I am a new fan 🔥🔥
I studied with Nic on Saint-Laurent college, in Montreal total class act. Also majored in orchestral composition, not less - which shows a lot when you think about it! He's basically used his traditional orchestral composition skills and transposed them to Ableton... genius move indeed. A really awesome and unique musician :)
Welcome to the club 👏👏👏
@@jas_bataille Yeee he's the GOAT
Very interesting way to bring a live aspect to music that doesn't really lend itself to live performance. Live Electro-Jazz
Haha sounded kinda rude but true. Electro jazz sounds completely different. He's a classically trained musician first but he made his own sound. He indeed has enough skills to perform live. 😂
yea I understand. Wasn't really rude just... straightforward lol. But I agree.
Awesome breakdown! Anomalie really does go the extra mile to make both his music and live shows special
Damn I forgot about this dude since I got off social media. This guy is killer!
this band is the dream theater of electronic music ... simply genius!
Although he's a classical pianist first and electronic second. He's made his own unique sound.
@@enantiomer3164 Same with Jordan Rudess (from dream theater) so what's your point?
This is incredible. I realized I know absolutely nothing compared to these guys! I always max out at 8-10 omnisphere instances, but now I know how to use more. Thanks for this amazing walk thru and may I just say your piano talents are some of the best I've ever seen. New fan right here!
When I see its arrangement mode I can see the time spent arranging it ! Amazing !
This was excellent, really great job explaining some pretty complicated functions. Thanks for sharing much appreciated!
Anomalie is one of my favorite newer artists. Such good stuff.
So cool of him to share!!!
Anomalie is preposterous, he doesn't even make sense, thank you for doing this, I'm not going to waste this wisdom, I promise.
That live performance at the end!!!!! wow!
Thanks so much for this, great live use tips!
Really interesting video. Would like to see more along the same lines, how artists and bands use modern tech in their live performances. Thanks for this.
This is EXACTLY what I needed to see if I could use Ableton for my live set. He works the same way I do. So glad this video exists.
I didn't realize how much I love Jazz! really inspiring
Wow this guy is truly a master of his craft! Props!
Wow. I need more of these live setup pieces!
Thanks for sharing. Helped a lot in consideration of my own live set up using Ableton. Good stuff!
I'm impressed. In fact, amazed. You are inspiring for me to get to work. You are worth following. I hope for you continued and increased success.
Holy shit, best video about making live electronic music I have ever seen!
I know right?
Amazing stuff. Exactly what I wanted to see.
Some really awesome synth brass sounds!
My computer would kill itself if it saw that in ableton
Same
exactly, did he mention how much ram he is running?
Same here bro. I need a bigger Mac for this set up
lol, my brain caved about 4 minutes in. Where the fuck I put that bong...
He repeatedly emphasized tricks on how to maximize CPU usage and he was using a regular Macbook, which can use maximum 16gb no more...
*L-I-S-T-E-N* when a master speak.
What a very disciplined young drummer...thats hard to find these days...Anomalie arrangements off the chain.
I saw this video for the first time four years ago and I still come back to this day and learn something new
So lucky to have watched him live which led me to wonder how he did *ALL THIS* which led me to this video.
OMG They are insane I love them💙
This guy is insane on them keys!!
Dude this is so detailed, thank you!
you cannot start a video with a song like that oh my god.. I'm so... I can't even explain I wanna get my band right so bad oh my lord, y'all are wonderful man
Amazing!!! Thank you for such a cool and insightful video!!!!!
What amazing talent and abilities utilising Ableton….Wow, i need some of this knowledge and expertise. God bless you all young men. Stay well
this is some serious stuff! thanks for sharing!
Amazing setup and explanation!
holy Moly this is so amazing. Mind-blowing.
This is a huge precious knowledge here!
Dude, this is the only video that works. Thanks for posting!
First thing I did when he opened that file was check his CPU usage.
Check 5:32 for the secret sauce. I mean they're sprinkled throughout the whole video so watch the whole thing, but 5:32 was huge for me.
Soooo informative thank you guys what a wealth of knowledge and tricks and tips!
dayeeummmm!! nastyyyyyyy on them keys. you guys sound soo good!! thank you for sharing your workflow- got me inspired with ideas
So good! THanks for this video!

Sooo useful! Thank you!
Incredible!

Thanks... it's working... Good Job...!
This guy is pure genius 💯❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great job !!!
This is great!
Instant follow and like bro. Cause funk is a Life!
This guy is a genius with music and computers!
This is awesome but holy shit could we get a beginners video for this as well
Literally, no lol. If you aren't following the basic concepts you need to look up Ableton videos on automating instrument racks using a chain selector.
Grizzly Wang like literally I just need four backing tracks sorry for being such an inferior being
That doesn't make you inferior, but the "basics" of what he's doing would require a series of videos. I didn't mean offense I was just saying if you're not following start with instrument rack videos and automation videos in ableton
@@lucaskamal8094 he is right though.. There is no way to put all of the basics that were combined in this set into a single video and have it keep your attention for the dozens of hours required to explain all the techniques and nuance required. This would and does require a series of manageable videos. There are some very helpful videos for beginners that do cover this. One of my favourite teachers of these topics about live performance is Freddy Frogs so you could start there! Pace yourself and it will come quite naturally.
Or if you have any specific questions ask away. Surely members of this community will be able to shed light on anything that you need more explanation for.
I believe theres an earlier video that's shorter and covers similar topica from a year ago?
Compositions are sick and that setup is next level! Great stuff! Def adding Anomalie to my playlist mix
WOW! AMAZING!
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!
This is so cool
It's working thanks my friend
Wow. Mind blown
Nice video, it works!
Super helpful! More tracks spreads cpu load, counter intuitive but I guess the core thing makes sense. Thanks!
This helped a lot thank you
WOW! This is hardcore!
It worked! Tank you sir.
I'm trying to do something like this.. this is going to be my end goal...
But now I need to go back to basics!
Anomalie is my hero
Ty I got my first divine because of you
Very good!! :O
Not really my kind of jams but the setup is really rad and his playing is 🔥
This is called... Magic... 🤦♂️ 🚨🔥
top level!
Great tips
Thanks 😍😍
Wooooo 👑👑👑💪💪🙏🏻🙏🏻 thanks for the share
Sago Thank you for sharing. 👍👍👍
I've been using this same basic setup in Reaper to run my streams the last few years. It is amazing when it works...and very stressful when you have to tech a problem lol
I Like your style
Nice, this is way more complicated than the max4live automation I was programming but I think this is the easier route for sure. I think this is way more sensible than binkbeats or something like that, tho.
very nice setup. still trying to decide if to use sesssion or arrangement view for my live setup.
sooo highhh levellll. brain melltingggg
