in the last question zero should come twice because the equations are different as on the positive side we have 6 + 7k and for initial value we will put the value of k as 0. similarly for the negative side the equation is -1 -7k when we put 0 we will get -1. hence the ans is correct 57 solutions.

nope there are two different equations -1-7k and 6+7k so the variable is different.. confusion is only because we have used same variable "k" for both the equations.. for better understanding you can use k1 and k2...

The 0 he counted is not the numbers from progression.. its k's value. I.e in the positive side there are 0 to 27 values of k thats satisfies hence altogether 28 values, when k is 0 there the actual value of 'a' is 6 (7k+6 where k is 0) and in the negetive side of the progression when k is 0 the value is -1

I am slightly confused about the increase and decrease pattern of solution series of x and y. For example, If I express the equation as 7y = 115 - 3x , does it mean that the solution series of x would be an AP with CD of +7 ? Is sign of the equation a reliable method to decide this or should this be determined by observation (hit and trial)

we generally keep the small coeff variable in the LHS since that variable has c.d of the opp variable which is larger. But the value of both the variable increase and decrease by the C.D on both sides of the number lines just like in the last example, but for negative solutions we just consider the changes to get non negative solutions
