    I'll bet my trousers this is a pt2399 chip delay, so not actually analog, but very analog sounding. Much like the mosky blue delay, and Donner analog delay.
    All fantastic for the money.

    • @calinguga
      @calinguga Před 3 lety +18

      it is, but not only that - it actually uses a sa571d compander as well
      (if the reader is unaware: a compander compresses down the signal so that the following bucket brigade device (the heart of true analog delays) is able to handle it, and then expands the delayed output back up. the latter is fedback to the compander/bbd, degrading in quality over each cycle and getting warmer and grittier.
      the pt2399 doesn't need the compander, but using one voices the circuit very similar to an analog delay (if you skip on it you get a crystal clear "digital" delay).)

    Really good sounding delay. I've got one and a boss RV-3 (from the 90's), and it holds its own really well. No problem with noise using a proper isolated 9v power source. Feedback takes off with the repeat/mix knobs turned about 3/4 of the way to the right, but you still have a strong delay sound before it gets to that point

    Considering most analog delays cost a lot, this is a sweet deal for those on a budget.

    this pedal almost seems too good to be true for the price point, but honestly after a good experience with a Behringer UC200 i'm starting to think cheap pedals are the way of the future. the feedback is a bit of a turnoff but this seems very, very good. how sturdy is the enclosure? it looks like proper aluminum from the video

    • @RyanLutton

      They are strong and made of metal :) I bought quite a few of these pedals when I did the demos, I still have them here and I might do a follow up video, see if any have broken

    • @RyanLutton
      @RyanLutton  Před 2 lety +2

      I'm not sure with this particular pedal :) but yeah if you set the delay time very fast and the repeats higher you should get a "reverb" sound.. it's usually quite metallic though.. depends if you're going for a natural reverb sound or not :)

    • @eveersdome712
      @eveersdome712 Před 2 lety +2

      That will work also I guess. Im planning to buy some budget pedals ive been looking for some reverb after I saw your video ive been thinking this might be the one shoul I buy instead of "reverb" pedal.
      Great video demo. Cheers!!

    Do you know about the circuit board at all? Like if it’s cloning anything and also I’d assume it’s 100% digital just using filters to create an analog style delay rather than a true analog delay

    • @kevinobryankob
      @kevinobryankob Před 4 lety +2

      I'm willing to bet its a clone of the MXR carbon copy, their version of the RE-201.

      All analog boards are digital based anyways.

      it uses a PT2399 delay chip (digital) and a SA571D compander for the analog sound (so not cheating with filters but actually degrading the signal the old way). source: i opened mine up.

      @slicksnewonenow Před 6 měsíci

      @@leobender2910
      Hiya Leo-
      It'll do short, old time style slapback, but I'd recommend using a 9v power source for it SPECIFICALLY.
      I have several of these effects and they're perfectly adequate for their purposes, but I find that using ONE 9v power supply to run more than one at a time diminishes their output.
      The only real complaint I personally have about this particular delay, is that there's a really fine line between the delay being too close together or too far apart.
      I think I'm going to silicone the TIME knob in place... I play pretty much nothing but Rockabilly, old time Blues, Jazz and Country... So I don't need more than just like a 2 or three millisecond delay and three or four really quick repeats.
      Cheers
