Have a kid. Living in 205 sq ft. I want a tiny home. Been living this way for 2 1/2 years. Looking to buy a tiny mobile home when the market normalizes. Biggest struggle is most home loan options don't cover tiny homes or even mobile homes. I'd love to build my own tiny home but local laws make it impossible.
@@tinyhouselistings Cities in Orange County are telling us we can't put them on rental lots and it's too much of a debt to approve a loan for building a tiny home and land to put it on. Plus each city has laws to prevent other issues which in turn also makes it out of code to put a tiny home on land in the 10 cities I have researched. Our personal business is in OC. So we are living in an RV in a mobile home community since tiny homes are "illegal" in Anaheim. We are hoping enough people will get fed up with the outrageous cost of living and push for laws to change. We had a law pass July 1st that looked promising but at the last minute they pushed in an amendment requiring it the new law to only apply to multi unit dwellings. I honestly feel like the big builders are able to push their agenda and influence too much of the housing market. We need better regulations to stop them from monopolizing the housing market with their awful builds. It's convenient that people can use a FHA loan to get a $500,000 awful tract home but can't use it for a mobile home or tiny home.
And don't even get me started on the lot lease costs. I'm paying $1800 just for the land my RV sits on. You might say, "yeah but your in Anaheim so it's going to be more." I was paying $2000 in Long Beach and $1800 in Lake Elsinore. Just for the lot. They also will not provide long term leasing causing us to move monthly or at best every 6 months.
His point is that tiny homes aren't legit because people who have kids are plan to have kids aren't a good fit for tiny homes. The amount of people who plan to live in a tiny house that don't have kids is a huge number! So discounting the legitimacy of tiny homes simply because one demographic may or may not be able to use them doesn't make sense, that's the point of this video.
@tinyhouselistings very true! I am genuinely curious on your opinion of large families (like ours!) who are interested in living tiny, but who struggle fitting all the kids in!
@@micahcoover6351 Do what other people who live tiny w/ kids do. There are videos and channels about it. Plan, reduce and make adjustments as needed. Granted I agree that 5 kids is a lot for a typical tiny house, even the larger ones. But maybe you could compensate w/ a lot of outdoor space.
I was curious what you had to say until you ended up strawmanning him as "seeing it as a threat" More likely than not he's just someone who wants to see out economy ALLOW people to actually buy decent sized homes for once within the last decade
We've seen a very small handful of tiny homes that are over the top luxury in that price range but that's super rare. For example, Tiny House Listings is currently building 32x10 tiny homes at 80k.

This is something we have seen over and over. Realtors won't invite Steven (our company owner) to events, etc (for example)
