    Aesthetics are very subjective and I personally far prefer the green anodised Samick riser over the nail polish red win and win you compared it to. I think most brands are moving away from high gloss to more satin and Matt finishes. High gloss, to me, looks very 90s/2000s. Nice matt and satin finishes look much classier to my eye, so although you have strong opinions, you may find that your customers see things differently. Where I do agree is the pinkish reds. I don’t like them, but then again I would not want wine red. Just a nice rich crimson. That said, I tend to stay away from very bold colours, because if you change limbs, the ones you feel shoot best may well not look good. There’s a good argument for somewhat sober colours for risers..... but we’re all different! Some of the best colour choices IMHO are on the new Spigarelli Zen. Stunning blue, green and gold especially

    i like your review and your passion for archery. Even though you didn't make it to the olympic but now you own an archery shop supplying the needs for young archers who might be in the olympics. Making a living while doing something you like is definitely a dream come true mate. Will be shopping online from your shop, I like those samick risers!

    Based on your review, I just bought a Samick Ideal riser in candy apple red. As you said the paintwork is brilliant, and the grip fits me perfectly. With my 36lb Cartel limbs, it shoots brilliantly, without any hand shock. It’s really beautifully made and rivals Risers costing much more. Thanks for the great info you produce on your channel.

    I have a Samick Max Pro anodised in PURPLE. It's gorgeous! Agree with you about the CNC tool marks - disappointing is the right word. But it's lovely to shoot. Personally, I'm constantly admiring the shape of the Max Pro - great lines in my view!

    Quick question! First I’m loving your videos. As COMPLETELY new to the world of recurve I’m really enjoying the info you’re sharing. My question is, it looks like my daughter would need a 54” bow for her size, do you buy a “normal” sized riser and 54” limbs or are there smaller youth bows? I’m wanting to get her, as well as myself setup to shoot some club competition in the future. I have some (very little) experience in the compound world but recurve is new to me. Thanks again for the info!

    Fully agree with all the points you make. I would love you to review the offerings from Arco Spigarelli, I shoot a Revolution, the fletching clearance is iffy, but it shoots incredibly well as long as you use ultra low profile vanes.

    Nice looking riser, the Candy Apple Red would be one of my first choices and combined with the basic Samick limbs, would make for a good shooting and head turning bow to be proud of without requiring a huge budget.

    Thank you kindly

    Painted risers suck in durability. There is no way that I would choose a painted option over a anodized in a mid or high level riser. Imo paint looks cheap and doesn´t last. Painting a riser signals that you need to hide a rough machine finish. To make an anodized riser look nice, you need to afterpolish the milled riser A LOT more than if you paint it. And paint chip so after 5 years your shiny riser will look like shit. Naaah, I take the anodized over paint every time.

    Hey Steve, I have brought this riser from your shop a few weeks ago, it looks different slightly, it doesn't have the clicker mount (the black tip just above the riser), and there are not place to screw in a mount (next to the rest & plunger screw holes) like the photos in your website at the moment, just wondering if that is some kind of manufacturing mistake?

    Isn’t anodized more rugged than paint?

    • @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale
      @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes paint can chip and scratch. But I think when people look at buying a bow price is first consideration then the look. If the bow looks better then they are more likely to spend more.

  • @Dldmny

    Ask yourself what goes into the design, material, labor, and finish to justify the high cost of what is an inherently mass-produced product. Surely, the cost is nothing other than all that the market will bear. Will, a million-dollar looking bow make you a million dollar archer? Probably not!

  • @ZephrusPrime
    @ZephrusPrime Před 5 lety +1

    You spend far too much time on rating aesthetics and absolutely miss key points that would highlight performance or anything a competitive archer would be interested in.

    • @sahhull
      @sahhull Před 5 lety +9

      For the majority of archers, looks matter more than performance as they will never reach the performance limits of the budget kit.. If you are at the stage where you need the higher performance limbs and risers and can feel the difference, you probably wont be looking at Samick.

      If companies and products need to improve, I recall not linking the PSE cable guard years ago and I said it, now if you say you don't like something on a Hoyt it is the end of the world. Improve the product, make it better. The new PSE cable guard rocks, the new over lap on draw lengths on Hoyt an improvement, new compression limbs on Hoyt an improvement. Build a better product and dominate.
