  • $119.95 www.prymaxe.com/products/a-da... Turn any full-range passive or powered monitor speaker or sound system into a dynamic guitar cabinet, loaded with your choice of drivers.
    The new ADA GCS-2 is an easy-to-use guitar cabinet simulator in a small, rugged package designed for guitar players and sound engineers who are looking for high quality analog solutions for live sound reinforcement systems, stage monitors and recording electric guitar.
    The new ADA GCS-2 is ideally suited for live performance and studio applications. A unique feature of the GCS-2 is that it replicates the low frequency natural resonance of a guitar speaker cabinet at loud volumes, which is especially noticeable in the SEALED CABINET configuration.
    The GCS-2 is inserted between the output of your preamplifier (or effects pedal chain) and a mixing or recording console to replace the close proximity microphone that is typically used to mic a guitar speaker cabinet. This eliminates the problem of bleed through or crosstalk from other instruments or amplifiers in live situations. The GCS-2 is especially useful for owners of our APP-1 guitar pedal preamp because it can split the output of the APP-1 for sending the signal to a guitar amplifier and to a mixing console for recording, house sound systems and stage monitor systems.
    We have tested the GCS-2 in live performances by sending a feed to a stage monitor for the guitarist and eliminating the combo or head with stack. The same feedback that you get from a stack or a hot-rod combo can easily be produced in the monitor, and interestingly, with more control.
    ADA GCS-2 Guitar Cabinet Simulator Features:
    Selectable 10" or 12" Speaker Size
    Selectable VINTAGE (Alnico) or MODERN (Ceramic) Speaker Character
    Selectable OPEN BACK or SEALED Cabinet Type
    Variable MICROPHONE PLACEMENT Control to "position" the mic for deep or bright frequency response.
    ¼" phone jack INPUT with a direct, un-buffered PASS THROUGH ¼" phone jack. This effectively splits the signal to feed both a guitar amplifier (the THRU) and a mixing console (one of the outputs, either ¼" phone single ended or XLR balanced)
    XLR Balanced Output has selectable LINE or MIC LEVEL Output and a GROUND LIFT for Pin 1
    Pure Analog Circuit Design using thru-hole, low-noise components
    Rugged all-steel chassis with durable powder coat finish
    Powered by a single industry standard 9-volt AC Adapter, but runs internally at 18 volts for higher headroom and lower noise
    Designed and manufactured in California

    Been using this box for years, most recently in direct church application (P&W). Looked at the Two Notes stuff & all the other "I.R." stuff out there...never, ever seen or heard anything to make me give up my ADA GCS2s. Superb.

    Who needs a torpedo cab when there's this box? Top of my wish list...
    The playing is so superb. Gosh, the sounds in the beginning!!!

    Awesome, Awesome Cab sim, own it, use it will not let go of it! When I can't use an amp or need to quietly record, PERFECT!
    However, I use it with a Mesa Flux Five and delay to give me more eq options and create ambience.

    connect the cab SIM to an eq pedal and it gets more interesting....hooked it to my 31 band rack eq, the options were endless

      isaac thrash before or after the cab sim? ie, guitar > preamp > 31 band eq > cab sim, or guitar > preamp > cab sim > 31 band eq?

    m@n this is a killer demo ^^ i've opted 4 this setup = a Palmer PGA-05 + the A/DA GCS2 /// the A/DA goes straight after my ENGL E530 preamp to refine the tone N the Palmer (which features a unique analog filters' architecture) goes straight after the processing of my Boss Gt100 hooked up in 4CM into my E530 preamp FX loop ...Im getting that way a freakin stellar tone !!!!!!! (no crappy latency due to A/D conversion)

    Shouldn't the GCS-2 be used with a preamp pedal? How does this pedal sound so good without a preamp pedal in front of it? Is it proper without a preamp?

    If you get all your dirt from your pedals, which do you think would sound best to your ears: Guitar->Pedals->GCS2->PA or Guitar->Pedals->AC4->Mic->PA?

    • @greg4272
      @greg4272 Před 5 lety

      The first option sounds better.
      But use as few pedals as possible. They are tonesuckers.

  • @heitorvrb

  • @ahrtnstn1
    @ahrtnstn1 Před 10 lety +1

    Neat little pedal but I think the Tech 21 Sansamp pedals are far superior in realism and versatility, having owned and used Liverpool for the past few years..

    • @jnh73
      @jnh73 Před 10 lety +4

      This is just the cabinet sim, as opposed to the whole tone stack modeled by the great SansAmp pedals. So the "amp" you're hearing in this vid is Mike's pedalboard. Seems like a great solution for making the soundman happy, as well as making home recording a snap!

    • @mattgilbert7347
      @mattgilbert7347 Před 4 lety

      @@jnh73 Correct. And the Tech 21 pedals benefit from some better cab sim, like IR or (perhaps) this unit. On their own, they are a bit "meh". Although, the RotoChoir has its own rotary speaker cab sim, which is really quite good - as long as it's used alongside another unit.
      DI can be a pain in the ass!

  • @heitorvrb
    @heitorvrb Před 10 lety

    I don't understand the second part of the video. Are only the Input and XLR Output jacks being used? When the GCS is bypassed in the second part of the video, the sound goes to and amp or to the mixer?

    • @jnh73
      @jnh73 Před 10 lety

      It is a little confusing, I agree. There's a pass-through output on the GCS-2 that would let you use your amp on stage as a "monitor" well as use the XLR output to a mixer, front-of-house sound, etc. So when the GCS is bypassed, you're hearing Mike's board into his mic'd up amp (which I think is a Dr. Z Maz 18?) When the GCS is on, you're hearing Mike's pedalboard right to a recording interface.

    • @PrymaxeDemos
      @PrymaxeDemos  Před 10 lety

      For this demo I'm never plugged into my amp. Effects - GCS (on or off) - Interface - Computer. I turn it on and off so you can hear how it changes the tone going directly into your computer or with the GCS engaged.

    • @jnh73
      @jnh73 Před 10 lety

      Ah, well! Even better! Then in that case, let me be among the first of many to say "Holy smokes that thing sounds great!" What an ideal solution for the soundman, as a backup, or as the ultimate "grab and go" for jams where there's a PA in play. Whoa...
