    Nice design, I definately want to try it. I'll probably use a BF-series NPN transistor. However I wonder why we couldn't use like a BC547; its f_T is still about 300 MHz and its overall gain is higher so it could make up some losses. 🤔

      Hi my friend. Thanks for your comment. I tried a few other type of transistors, like 2N, o BC series but it didn't work. Sure, you can try and test. If you success, share with us your experience. Good Luck!!

      300 Mhz is the max of those transistors at only unity gain so probably (as I am like intermediate level of knowledge for radio technology) not enough gain with higher frequency like 100 mhz etc. Even for AM radio , using 2n2222 I needed 3 transistors amplifiers to have enough gain. Before I made that mistake that i used cheap transistors from Aliexpress for everything , now I am smarter and I buy only original ones and I try to choose the transnistors for their purpose if I am doing RF Ichoose transistors for RF, if a power amp, I choose power transistors etc. They design transistors for a specific task so if you use for something different it is not going to work ...

      It should not be a problem to use the BC 547 or 2N types in this circuit. You just need to adjust and tweek the bias resistors and or the feedback load/variable resistor and the supply voltage. Set this up with all the above parameters as variable trimmer pots till you establish the optimal values and replace with fixed values. Good hunting!

  • @erikdevriese671
    @erikdevriese671 Před 2 lety +3

    Very interesting! This does not look like a super-regenerative circuit (no quench oscillator), actually it's more like a transmitter than a receiver, especially since the base is not grounded like in most simple FM receivers. Therefore I do not understand how coupling in phase between collector and emitter is possible. One question: the schematic shows a battery of 1,5V but in the video it looks like you're using 2 batteries (3V). Does it also work on 1,5V? Tnx

    • @nusyil
      @nusyil  Před 2 lety +3

      Hi my friend !
      You're exactly right. It looks like a transmitter and already it is. I didn't test, but i'm sure that if you connect a microphone to base of the transistor, it works as a transmitter. Already you can see same constructions, as coupling between C and E at FM transmitter schematics as well.
      In the video, looks as if i used two batteries. It's correct, but one of the battery is a dummy battery :) It's was a dead battery, i made jumper between positive and negative, so it's became just like a conductor. Because i had no battery holder for one battery, only i had for two batteries. So i used it as a fill the blank place of battery holder. Also, i got the best performance at 1,5 V DC.
      Greetings!!

    • @erikdevriese671
      @erikdevriese671 Před 2 lety +1

      @@nusyil Tnx for the friendly reaction! I just finished my experiments with a similar schematic but the difference is that the HF transistor (BF 180) in my design is working in common base mode (base grounded) while yours works (partly) in common emitter mode as a mixer. Mine also works with only a 1.5V battery en is so sensitive that an antenna is not needed. The quality of the sound is much better than I expected. I believe that for optimal sensitivity the transistor needs to oscillate weakly (so a low battery voltage helps!) and being able to regulate this 'soft spot' smoothly is the key to succes. If you are interested I will send you the schematic and some photos. How can I contact you?

I replaced the transistor with an s9018 and despite the long wires, it receives many stations although one station local is everywhere. The sound is very weak but because of the amplifier. Do you think that an lm386 with a gain of 200 is enough?

    I couldn't see where you connected the antenna to and I couldn't see most of the equipment you were using, very poor video etiquette, do you ever review your videos before posting online? I'm asking because everything you talked about was out of sight and you know what that makes you? Nothing you did was satisfactory.

      You need a transistor to amplify the signal so that you can use a speaker instead of an earphone
