I quit my job as a paralegal 5 years ago, 2 weeks ago I returned at another law firm. I am quickly remembering why I left. Attorneys yelling, shouting, talking down to me and treating me as if I don't know what i am doing. Hey Mr. Attorney, Its not my fault that you slacked off and have high blood pressure. Turn it down before you stroke out, or I quit. The worst part of being a paralegal is working for a control freak attorney who is unorganized and screams at me. I am ready to quit again. AND don't call me sweetie ass wipe.

Thank you so much for the advice and for being honest about being a Paralegal! I'm currently in a program to become a Paralegal and I hope I'll enjoy this career in the future. I literally was planning to go to law school afterwards too. Thanks again for the insight!

RUN get into another program. Paralegals have no long term benefits. I wish someone tole me that, but I was hell bent on justice. I do love solving mysteries, which is why I became a paralegal. I suggest you find a REALLY good attorney to work for. LOL a really good attorney.

Great video! As someone who graduated UCLA and worked in law firms over 5 years in every area of law, I cannot agree more. Paralegal field is definitely accompanied with a lot of stress and challenges and you explained it very good! This field is definitely not for everyone, but good luck on your journey ahead!!!! I definitely switched out of the paralegal to pursue the engineering field but nevertheless I learned so much from being a paralegal!

Heyyy! I am considering taking a parlegal certification program in the Fall and I would love to have you as a mentor in my journey ahead! I live in Toronto by the way. Just graduated out of university having zero direction on what to do so I think this might be good for me. And I also wanted to say thank you for all your videos on paralegalling you do and the struggles you encounter at your job; itsvery helpful for people like me considering they are not too much videos like yours on youtube :)

Hi!! First and foremost, congratulations on graduating! Thank you for your kind feedback and I GENUINELY would love to mentor you, but because you are based in Canada, I am worried that I might give you misinformation since I am in the US. If there are any small questions you have about day-to-day things, I would love to answer them! For reference, I graduated with my Economics Degree and had no prior paralegal experience. I was able to get into the field because I applied to a boutique-like firm. If i wanted to switch to a bigger-sized firm, I'm sure I'd have to leverage my experience in this firm in order to catch their attention. Good luck on your journey by the way!

Great information! Do you think your time being a paralegal prepared you to eventually go to law school? As a senior in college, I am debating on if I should become a paralegal first before going to law school.

    • @thelegaldiaries

Thanks for your feedback! I start this upcoming August, so I am not sure if it will have a huge impact on my learning curve, BUT I can say that it has helped me solidify my interest in the field and deepened my desire to become a lawyer even more. Graduation is so close for you, congrats! Take this with a grain of salt, but I personally think that you should consider being a paralegal if you are one of the following:
      1. not sure if you want to attend law school
      2. not financially "ready" for law school - meaning even after loans you still are not able to afford the cost. I am taking out loans and I find out about more hidden costs with every day that passes. Luckily, I have savings and parents who are there to help.
      3. need to raise your LSAT score in order to get in at an ideal law school for you
This isn't an exhaustive list, but they are good things to consider! What are your reasons for considering being a paralegal before school?

@@thelegaldiaries if you don’t mind I have a quick question, how did you know law school was something you wanted to do ? (In high school I was all about the medical field but I realized in college that I sucked at science 😂 and I recently did an internship with my county at the DA’s office and I loved it. That’s why I wanted to ask because I’m not completely sure)

I used to think I wanted to be an OBGYN! Lol. So I’m with you there. In college I was on the Mock Trial Team and fell in love. My mom was a lawyer in Colombia, so I spent more time talking about the law with her. I was 100000% in love with being a lawyer once I became a paralegal. That internship sounds so fun omg. I wish I could experience all legal fields
