The Black Snowboard of Death still isn't a cheap board, but it almost seems it when you compare it to the Mega Death.
A very solid all mountain board, that I would happily ride.

I previoisly owned the 22/23 BSOD in 159...im 5 ft 8, 180lbs, size 8.5, it was perfect free ride size for me (also owned the 20/21 in a 156 and was not great in pow, but still pretty good all mtn)...looking to replace with a mega merc 158w to test my high speed switch carve and switch pow riding..
hope you can do the Mega Merc soon! would be awesome to see

Will definitely get this year BSOD, but I am sill really not sure on the size. Need help.
I am 182cm (6”11), 78kg (172lbs) and boots US10.5.
I have been riding for 20 years, and plan on using this board as an all mountain, do it all board. For fast big carves on groomer, powder, trees and some side hits.
Cannot decide between 157w, 159 and 162.
Would really appreciate any insight. What would you recommend?

I think the 159 is going to be the best. It will feel solid all around, and still has a decent waist width that is almost at the "wide" end. If you want to spend much more time carving hard, then maybe the 157w or 162, but I don't think they are going to be needed for most situations.

Can you compare this to the nitro team? I’m considering selling my 22’ bsod without riding the team first. For me the bsod is super precise and makes everything almost too easy I’m hoping the team has a little more playful personality but still good for boosting jumps/side hits. I do like how the bsod handles tight tree runs but if I can have just one board that’s good all around I may not need it. I ride with the kids and they aren’t doing the black diamond trails anyway. I found the Team to be a more precise board overall than the BSOD, with the full camber profile. The Team definitely sits in that "do everything" category of boards, but I would probably consider something like the Mercury. Rocker on the nose and tail to make it a bit looser, but still plenty of strength when you do ride hard, and plenty of pop.
Thanks! To be honest I really didn’t want to part with the bsod for me it’s one of the best I’ve ridden. I can’t wait to try out the team though. If it’s better than or as good as either my old Ride Yukon or my Never Summer premier t1 I’ll be perfectly happy! Thanks again!
@@j.davenport6065i just go with a superdoa, plenty of board, with some play in the tips. Rides smooth, and the camber to flat profile is great.

How would you compare this against the Stratos? (have you ridden the 24 stratos yet?
Also how does it compare to the mercury/mega merc?

I haven't ridden the 24 version, I am not sure if/what the changes are. The extra taper on the Stratos was noticeable in a good way, always a help for carving. The BSOD doesn't have a hugely different feel than the Mercury/Mega Merc, just a better shape if you want something directional. Both BSOD and Stratos would be great all mountain boards. If you really like carving/powder, the extra shape in the Stratos will be better, the BSOD is just a little more standard/classic.

Which do you prefer, this or the jones flagship ? I love to go fast, but we seem to get a lot crappy snow and sometimes icy conditions
I like the BSOD a little better, it will feel the tiniest bit more direct than the Flagship bit.ly/3SFdaTs The spoon/rounded nose and tail will make things a bit smoother and more forgiving, but that doesn't really bother me. Really both are going to be quite solid in icy conditions.
How would you compare the torsional and overall flex of the BSOD vs Mega Death?
Overall and torsional flex felt the tiniest bit easier on the Mega Death, though it was still more stable at really high speeds than I would have guessed a board like that should be. I guess it felt like it shouldn't be so stable because it was so light/full of carbon.
I'm 6'1 185lb 10.5 boots. What size of megadeath would you recommend? Given the waist width I'm leaning towards a 157W or 162. I currently ride a burton custom 158W which has the same waist width as the 162. Interested in carving groomers and going fast which has me leaning 162 for edge to edge ease and extra stability from the length.
I think you have it right. The 157w would be good if you were after something a bit more playful, or wanted to spend more time with quick turns in tighter trees. Seeing you want to ride fast, the 162 will be the easy better choice I think.
Or I could go dedicated ice board for bulletproof ice days then maybe this as or flagship as a daily driver / pow board. If so what would you recommend as a dedicated ice board and bsod or flagship as my other ( unfortunately I can only afford 2) ? Tia
You could go for the BSOD as a daily/do everything board, and then the Easy Rider czcams.com/video/nNkCD-Z8jeE/video.html as a board for icy riding. Or, if you want one board for everything, then the Never Summer Valhalla bit.ly/3uGYyuH has the same profile, but in a more useful directional shape.

It felt fine riding switch, nothing super odd to get used to really, and it doesn't have a crazy shape

156 is the safe choice, but if you want more freeriding/powder/off piste then you could go bigger
what conditions did you ride the megadeath in that made you feel the BSOD is better fit for you personally? i get my megadeath monday and am curious
Same conditions as this was filmed in. So technically the mega death is "better", much lighter and quicker, but I liked the solid and damper feel of the bsod. If someone gave me a mega death I would happily ride it, but I was mainly thinking about the big price jump between the two.

More directional shape and profile on the BSOD, if you want to ride a ton of switch the Mega Merc might be a bit better. Other than that they are both light, fast and expensive.
I have a bsod '23 it rides like butter, is there much difference?
Not sure, this was the first BSOD I have ridden, so I can't compare it to any of the older versions yet

Do you prefer the Aeronaut or the BSOD?
I still liked the Aeronaut, but I would choose the BSOD as my one board if I had to pick between the two. The BSOD probably isn't as light as the Aeronaut, but I just liked how stable and consistent it felt.

Not particularly, even with the longer nose, but there is something in the BSOD that makes it feel a bit more grounded overall @@erikhellebaut

@@Calisnr Aeronaut, it is more playful than the bsod so I think you would have more fun on it
How is riding switch on this board?
Nothing major to worry about - the directional shape didn't really seem to affect it too much. If you did want to stick closer to a twin shape for lots of switch, the Mercury czcams.com/video/hiF2RiX_dpQ/video.html or Mega Merc bit.ly/3SA9Avm could be better.
How would you compare this to the jones aviator 2.0?
The Aviator 2.0 bit.ly/3uxsmKj does feel a bit more full on - a bit more aggressive overall. Good edge hold with the Aviator, pretty snappy. Both boards are very comfortable at high speed, but I did like the more damp solid feel of the BSOD a bit more. I figure that if you don't ride too much switch, might as well get as much directional shape as you can.

Oh yeah they do, but it is nowhere near as good on ice as the the Easy Rider, which is miles above in grip@@Durski1976
What difference between mega death?
Mega Death has a very fast base, same shape and profile as the BSOD, but no fiberglass, just carbon so it is very light/expensive.
I am an intermediate snowboarder from east coast going to my 3rd year, really willing to buy this board. Considering my background, would it be harmful in anyway to get this board? Is it "too advance" or too unforgiven that would harm my progression in any way?
You definitely could do it, though it will be a board that will always have a bit more to give, no matter how good you get. A slightly friendlier option would be the Navigator, it would be worth having a look at as well bit.ly/48mXGdf
