  • They’re cute, cuddly and charming, and they’re one of China’s most effective diplomatic tools. We’re talking about pandas.
    In the past decade, China has been sending pandas around Southeast Asia in an effort to build alliances. In return, countries are pulling out all the stops for these furry diplomats - from building palaces to spending millions on the care and breeding of the pandas. What does this signal about China’s relationship with Southeast Asia?

      I never heard about that story. What happened exactly? I heard Memphis Zoo made them suffer by low quality and less food plus physical and mental illnesses. As far as i know LeLe died and YaYa went back. Has Memphis Zoo killed LeLe? What about YaYa, is there some way to see her in actual videos or photos?
      The case really shocked me and breaked my heart.

      @@ApocryphoxYes, I would say memphis zoo basically starved the pandas and one to death. Yaya condition improved immediately as soon as it returned to China. The Chinese zoo which takes of yaya now occasionally release videos of yaya and a lot of Chinese pandas fans would do the same too. Yaya looks very healthy and active now.

    While Pandas are adorable, it's still a loaned animal that will return to their original country. Meanwhile, our native animals only have us to care for them. Hopefully they get the fundings needed for their conservatory. I hope for their survival but I don't hope for meeting them near human settlements. It's scary to be seen as food for wild creatures.😅

    Any particular reason of mixing pandas with geopolitics here in this documentary, CNA? Yes, China have pandas but to loan pandas to other foreign countries have to be agreed by both countries. A win-win!
    If you claimed what happened to YaYa and LeLe in Memphis zoo was not mistreatment, then, how do you explain the current overall healthy wellbeing of YaYa now since her returned to China?
    May I ask too how do you prove, that poorly stabbed panda picture was in fact Shu Lan when you claimed there's no proof that YaYa and LeLe were mistreated in Memphis zoo?

    • @TheJayJayYoung
      @TheJayJayYoung Před měsícem

      Do you not know that the burden of proof is on the accuser? And from what I gather from within China media platforms, Chinese expertise did travel to US to investigate and autopsies were carried out on LeLe. Chinese zoological society release reports stating that no evidence of mistreatments on YaYa and LeLe was found. As for the picture of a panda being wounded, China’s National Forestry Administration have confirmed the identity of the wounded panda to be Shu Lan at the Lan Zhou zoo. For the sake of the integrity of China, it’s best to understand the laws and regulations, as well as providing factual evidence before making such accusations. Your actions totally undermine the diplomatic relations, which is the primary reason of China’s panda diplomacy. You should be ashamed of yourself, the pandas are probably more patriotic than you will ever be.
      P.s. Since you’re so anxious about mistreatment and abuse of pandas, would you be kind enough to investigate on Shu Lan’s situations and provide us with an update, did the zoo keeper in China’s Lan Zhou actually stabbed Shu Lan? I’m sure many panda lovers outside China would be glad to know what happened to Shu Lan. Thanks 🙏🏻🙏🏻

      Philippines is viewed as a dirty and poor country where the infrastructure is not sufficient to care for the pandas and even possibly harming the health of the pandas.
      That's why there will never be any pandas going to india nor Bangladesh nor Pakistan as south asia is too dirty and poor and chaotic and pandas would be seen as in danger in those places. Also there have never been any pandas in South America because it is considered a high risk region.
      If you look at the places where pandas are loaned to they are almost all "wealthy modern developed nations" MAINLY "western" nations. The outliers are Qatar and Mexico and Indonesia and Malaysia. Wealthy Qatar speaks for itself and Mexico and Malaysia and Indonesia are seen as near wealthy nations with sufficient infrastructure.
