Gustin folded the nose under the LF tire, volusia is rough this year so far, the new clay looks to be a bad idea so far . Huge congrats to the nicest guy in dirt late model racing , Mr McDowell 🏁🇺🇸🏁🇺🇸
If they aren't working that up until midnight then packing it until tomorrow's start, something is wrong. That's a lot of money getting thrown away when they bounce around like that.
I’ve seen 2 tracks worse than that, granite city motor park in Sauk rapids MN, after new clay, and princeton speedway in princeton MN, which hasn’t need a good track since 2014. Back they princeton had top wissota drivers in every class

Anytime you put new dirt on a surface 95% of the time it's gonna be rough at first getting worked in. But for the long term it's better for the track. The track could have been better but I've seen countless other tracks just as bad after new clay being added. If you want smooth tracks all the time go watch nascar.

The condition of the Track is an insult to Drivers/Owers and Fans.
You would think that in 2022 and after the horrors of Oswego in years past that Dirt would get people who know how to prepare a track.
Hours spent preparing expensive cars for this Race and many Teams will go home with destroyed expensive cars.

It's dirt, not asphalt buddy. Yes it sucked and was hard on equipment, but that's why dirt racing is hard. It's not a perfect surface and nor should it be.

Why have they not done more track prep, wow big disappointment to knock drivers out of contention . That is pitiful to have the best of the best in town and have a track prepared that way.
I've seen better prep at a Tractor Pull event.

Good for Dale McDowell. Bad for Volusia. I get that this isn’t pavement racing and with so many race cars the track will take a beating but this was just a joke. Also let’s not forget about having to be postponed because of a slow Friday night program. I wouldn’t blame drivers or fans for not wanting to come back after that poor excuse of a track.

Was at the first 2 Outlaw shows at Eldora. Remember hearing my Great Uncle say, those wings look like tin roofs on a windy day, while we were backed up to the fence with our vehicles.
Moved to Florida, and attended many WoO shows at East Bay. SUPPORT NEEDED, TRACK LEASE IS UP IN 2024.
Sadly my first year at Volusia was 2017. On YT see, All Stars 2-15-17. That's me at 2:46, top left bleachers, when Joey Saldana was flipping over the fence. Same year Blaney hit 2 people.
Yes they track was rough but that's dirt racing. Would you have the BEST conditions during qualifying ? Will you have them best set up for a feature ?
The track is what you race, no matter the conditions. Look at some of those in Australia.
The wife and I were at Bubba's Raceway Park, it had rained for a week. Track was HEAVY as they say. Saw Kasey and Donnies team pull in and pull out. Blaney said, thank you.
Guys don't complain about the tracks. I've raced on asphalt, peaches and cream.

How many times are you going to say Gustin “just went around” when obviously he got too low and hit the rail. Maybe the caved in left front might have been a clue? @@Ccook47 well ive done it before not at that track but dirt is usually piled up down low on most tracks most likely hit the dirt piled up and wall just cut it a little to close..

Probably would've been better off with 4-wheel quads on that track than these cars, that surface seems super-rough. Cars are bouncing around like a freaking rodeo.

Sure can tell the rain really hurt the track. Its a shame because where it was smooth it seemed to have great grip and would have made for a very competitive race weekend.

Are the Sunshine Nationals for the fans or a back gate promotion? If you wants fans then you can't time trial 160 late models every night. Let the other 2 classes draw for heats and maybe use points from the first 2 nights in the finals?

Gotta say I was there all night watching them do the track prep they just put down new clay not even 2 weeks ago I live the track surface they are doing the best they can with the track prep
I remember them doing that at East Bay years ago. Shipped in some Georgia clay.
My Nephew does the prep on a quarter mile.
Will be interesting when the sprints show up.

always glad when i went to a rough track, the big money guys didn't have the edge over the average racer, took the money out and put the skill in, guess some of these drivers got to spoiled by the big purses and forgot how to read a track.
