It is amazing the progress that the Logging Industry has made in the last fifty years with the way that they cut trees and process the wood. The person sorting and cutting to length, the logs, knows what they are doing. The end product can make the job profitable or failure depending on the saw handling experience. Chris does an excellent job of stacking trees so the they can be dragged out to the deck with the skidder. Job well done and I pray for safety to be #1 priority 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻Amen!!!

About 30 years ago, I ran across a logging operation in Alabama, where they had a 6'x6' gate they would push trees through to remove limbs. This was for pine that was no larger than 40" at the base. It amazed me at how easy it was to clean an entire trunk in minutes.

It’s amazing how different logging operations are throughout the United States.
Here in East Texas you use big hydro ax feller bunchers that can just choose through about 10 acres of overgrown material or up to about 15 acres a day of plantation.
I just had 88 acres done here at the house pretty thick hardwood all in the 24 inch range red oak and there’s probably not many stops that are much taller than your ankle. Soon as I hit the ground, there were big Timberjack skidder’s taking them up to a central de limbing location just some minor cleanup with a few skid steers, and 99% of these stumps I can mow over with the 20ft shredder on his tiptoes.

We were logging our land in Arkansas last Fall and with all the leaves and pine straw holding moisture in the ground, once the skidder started breaking thru all they were doing was fighting stuck equipment and COMPLETELY destroying the ground. Better to work around or wait than to fight that war.

Funny what Chris called a creek, we wouldn't call anything that small as more than a run in Ohio. The creek that runs thru the farm has a flow of ~125cfs to over 3000cfs depending on where and how much rain fell. Odd that they only saw one Black Walnut. Normally if there is one, there are a lot more in the area. The woods in our area of Ohio are full of them and when ours were last cut, one tree brought the second highest price per board foot ever in Ohio up to that time.
