Fred was quite unique and a testament to times when engineers were allowed to be engineers and not tied up in H&S red tape! He also broke through the crust of TV company snobbery to be a TV star without [I guess] ever wanting that for himself. His ability to make things work through improvisation were legendary. Have a well earned rest Fred!! Ken

I've only just found this on YT. I've always admired Fred, I have his biography and never missed his TV programmes. When Fred left us we lost a true proper working class old school character. My family were either engine drivers, worked at the pit or at the steelworks and those industries all had similar characters to Fred. That generation were a different breed to now. God bless Fred's and all of their memories. The world is a much sadder place without them. RIP Fred.

This made me think of my dad, he demolished old chimneys of local brick pits by hand climbing the chimneys by the internal ladders which were steel bars built into the inner walls then walking the rim with nothing but a modified miners pick which I still have one of them today along with his brick cleaning axe,in his demolishing days he cleaned well over 1.5 million bricks and held a record among his demolition mates for cleaning 6,800 brick in 5 hours only beaten by another mate who cleaned 7,400 bricks in 8 hours, incident i went to buy a truck and turned out to be one of my dads old colleagues and he gave my dad praise on many levels, my dad was known well locally just like Fred , so watching this rang a tear to my eyes R.I.P Fred and R.I.P to all the old demolishers who used muscle over machinery to demolish structures endangering their lives daily...

My absolute respect for this man and his performance. I would be happy, if I only had ten percent of his performance. I've only been watching his videos for a few days, but I can't express in words, how great my respect for him is. What a lifetime achievement. Regards from Germany. R.i.p Fred

@@ismailmiah1446 Sorry , I was born in 1978. Something that happened in the Second World War, unfortunately I can't help it. Unfortunately, I also have to live with the past, and as you can see here now, no distinction is made between the generation at that time and today's generation.
I think you cannot compare today's Germany with that of the past.
I am very sorry for what has happened in the past, but I cannot do anything about what happened before.
It is a shame that you are always reduced to the past.
I just tried to express my sympathy for this person, who did really great things, but unfortunately I'm then confronted with things that I had nothing to do with.
It's sad that some people still think that way.
You shouldn't forget the past, but you shouldn't take a look back.
      Have a nice day.
