  • Hey guys what’s happening? Niyat here with film comics explained, and as voted for by everyone in the latest poll, today we’ll be exploring Sleepy Hollow, the 1999 Gothic supernatural horror directed by Tim Burton, loosely based on Washington Irving’s 1820 short story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”.
    Starring Johnny Depp, Christina Ricci, Christopher Walken, Michael Gambon, Miranda Richardson, Casper Van Dien, Christopher Lee, Richard Griffiths, Jeffrey Jones, Michael Gough and Ian McDiarmid (in what many term the Burton Wrangle) it follows the exploits of Ichabod Crane, a police constable from New York City.
    After being sent to investigate a number of weird murders attributed to a Headless Horseman in the Dutch hamlet of Sleepy Hollow, Crane’s powers of deduction are put to the ultimate test.

    What you are failing to notice is that Tim Burton fused two stories into one.
    Washington Irving's story is wrapped around Mario Bava's movie: Kill Baby Kill.
    In that tale an investigating doctor is sent to a small European town;
    to do a coroner's inquest on the sudden deaths going on that town.
    The cause is the ghost of a little girl with a ball.
    Anyone who sees her is compelled to kill themselves.
    There are two suspects. One is a beautiful Gypsy woman, that has lived at the outskirts.
    The other is a reclusive old spinster. One of these two is sending the spectral child out
    in a act of revenge against that town.
    There are also several homages to Bava's earlier movie: Black Sunday in Sleepy Hallow.
