Activision/Blizzard tarnished the reputation of Blizzard so badly that it's gonna take a LOT more than that to be excited about any new products. There used to be a long period where Blizzard was known for releasing high quality titles, and was highly respected for it. I hope they can regain that respect, but too much has come to pass that they need to reprove themselves.
And like 95% of the people who were part of that era of Blizzard are no longer there.

@@Nightstalker314 10 years is a long time in the gaming sphere. That's enough time for an entire generation to start getting integrated into gaming. It might not be a huge amount of time in the grand scheme of things but on the internet especially even just 2-3 years is forever.

Publishers are going to keep outsourcing developers to Europe then SEA. Calling a game “AA” is how they will mask this move until one of those titles hits, then they will have the signal to move more jobs over.

not me, most were scumbags all behind the year of stupid...that team was actually guilty of some of the shit Vic Mignola and Chris Avellone were innocent of but blamed for so activists could be hired and ruin studios! and yes Vic was just a voice actor but he was one of the only other high profile "me too" victim I could think of who was 1000% innocent

@@0Lameran0 there was actual evidence from the Bliz accusations...some of it was BS like the milk stealing but there was one staffer who killed themselves and the cosby suite was real....
also it was staff who came forward but much of that case got confused due to the activists getting involved
why else would they remove overhype character names if the devs were innocent? cus they knew some were guilty so they removed/changed all names based on real people
If OW isn't making enough money to warrant Microsoft's tolerance, then any changes at this point may not rescue the franchise.
With all the scrapped content, there isn't much left saving, but there it is.
To salvage good faith from the company and its assets, some full-fledged games without NFTs, microtransactions or a subscription would be a lovely start in my opinion.

Saying "we want to support smaller teams on smaller projects" rings hollow when you just shut down a bunch of small studios, at least one of which released an absolute banger. Assuming that WoW's brand will draw in new fans to smaller games is a doomed Hail Mary: Warcraft was a behemoth back in the day, but nobody is pursuing the setting anymore for the lore. It's too complicated, dense, and intimidating to new arrivals. The current fanbase is too toxic, negative and elitist. Blizzard is too known for predatory monetizing and crappy release upon crappy release. Sorry, but WoW's brand-name will only ever draw former and current WoW players. It's not the savior MS thinks it's going to be.
pretty much this. It's why I'm so disappointed about Riot's games that all 100% center on their LoL universe. I would have maybe considered playing some of them if it was something new and standalone. I had been waiting for them to do that for years. But nope, it's all just more LoL. Even Genshin didn't make that mistake, drawing in a different crowd for ZZZ. (furry-bait)
HotS was fun because it was a fun spin on the MOBA genre and casual.
OW was fun because it was casual and a whole new IP
Warcraft is... a lot of baggage. I don't doubt that the director on the project would be able to ensure the story has a good tone, but the game and IP itself? It's not interesting because there's all of WoW which continued the mess of a story after WC3.
But because of corporate marketing, if they don't drag the corpse's name around no one will care as much. (D4) Because you can't say it's from the creators of that other really well known IP, because they all left a decade (or three) ago.
Thats like saying no one will join in the 40K universe because the lore is complicated, dense and intimidating. Same could be said for FF14, or any game that has been going on for a long time.
Warcraft is being killed by Blizzard by making it not Warcraft, they made SeasameStreetCraft

Same here. Caught Arkane after Critical Drinker recommended it. Love it, especially as you can clearly see the time effort and thought put into the story and characterization.But, as a gamer, I already knew of LoL and avoid that mindless trash like the plaque because it lacks story and characterization.
The IOC has always been about money, no surprise.

@@DoesNotInhale I wouldn't say that, they are true there is potential. Does it mean they will make use of any of it? No. Does it mean even if they do, it'll be good because they did? No. I like the universe, so naturally any expansion of the IP is welcome, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up until I see something that has that potential and uses it well. If that comes to pass, it'll be a pleasant surprise. If it doesn't come to pass, that much was to be expected.

It wasn't the impact of nostalgia when you go from playing a game every night with a group of friends for 6 years, then the day OW2 releases everyone falls off. It is a game I've tried to love and have failed to many times over.

I'll be honest I think AA games are LIKELY to be better then AAA games.
AAA games require a lot of money... and unfortenely the only way to ensure of so is high prices and microtransactions.
Now I don't think they will avoid it, but are likely to be restrained about it

Familiar ip’s makes a world of difference. Getting into a new story / ip that simply exists to sell a live service creates apathy towards the game itself.

There's no fixing Blizzard, and even less by MicroSlop. If they treat Actiblizz IP's like they treat Minecraft you can surely bet on a death of those IPs in a 5 year span.

i love W3TFT but what would they do in W4? i mean we have so much lore from WoW, so when would they make W4 take place? before the events of W3? After the events of current WoW? as much as i would love a new Warcraft RTS i don't see how they can make it work with World of Warcraft. They would need to make a reboot of W1 maybe.
@@BinaryBeats01 To be honest, the Battle for Azeroth would have been a great settings for a WC4 RTS called "WC4: Battles in Azeroth" -- can you imagine "Defend Teldrassil" as a mission? Or Siege of Lordaeron? -- we only saw the cinematics of this one, it'd be great if it's an RTS.
Also, while the players in WoW are in Shadowlands, the RTS can show what's happening in Azeroth while everyone was away called "WC4: Whispers of Shadows".
Legions expansion is also a good settings for an RTS showing what's happening at different parts of the world called "WC4: Legionaries".
The RTS doesn't need to be a continuation of the Warcraft universe, rather a small story of what's happening in the world while the heroes are trying to save it, like an anthology.
If it's mobile it doesn't count. Candy crush devs can't give anything of value from the Blizz IPs. People that like Warcraft want a War4 with the continuation of where War3 left of story wise like Wow didn't happen, Starcraft fans want a Sc3, Diablo fans uuuh not gonna even mention them with how much they got hit hard with how bad D4 is. Like War Rumble it's all going to be a failure. Most people don't want mobile games, and Candy crush devs can't bring anything else to the table.

I believe, games should shrink back to the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube range of spes and target of complexity. If you can do PS3/XB360 great. (And instead of pre-generated videos probably make those run in-engine since we have the processing power)
Models/textures can be upgraded/changed later, but the majority of the game should be able to fit in 8Gb or less. But the games should be built so they fun fast, are small, and play very well. Don't chase the 4k Realistic whatever that just seems useless.

Would love a God of War style Warcraft game where you play through all the battles bigger named characters went through like Anduin Lothar, Orgrim Doomhammer, Thrall, Sylvanas etc. I also wish they'd take another stab at that 3rd person shooter set in Starcraft, RIP Starcraft: Ghost. I was hyped AF for that game on Gamecube back in the day and was pretty pissed at Blizzard for cancelling it.

Let me be cruelly blunt. No one should compare warcraft reforged and wow with pokemon. Pokemon is with a lot of problems and criticisms. But its not blizzard. It has problems especially console exclusivity but its not blizzard.
