Booker T not getting the strap during this feud is one of the biggest misses in booking history. Dude was MONSTER over, and it wasn't because of Triple H, that's for damn sure. He was huge over from the moment he came into the Fed, because people, myself included, loved him so much in WCW and he just kept getting better.
The reaction back then was abit more ambiguous when triple h won. But if the storyline happened now, with the race overtones, if triple H won people would have killed the whole show with boos. It would be like if Triple H won against Daniel Bryan and he adds himself to the main event.
@@thesolidestsnake If the story line happened now, it would probably be almost the same but with racial overtones replaced with something like "people like you, that can't cut it in the WWE, that had to settle for the _other_ company." This would be the only change they'd have to make, really. But at that point, it's hardly any different than calling him a "B+ player," so your guess on the audience reaction would probably be accurate.
Yeah Trips wasn't the one calling the shots, Vince was. To see a real Reign of Terror people should check out NWA TNA, Jeff Jarrett was the damn owner and he pushed himself just too much and every time there was a ridiculous ref bump and a guitar shot, finished and 1, 2, 3... And he was a heel only because he got so much go-away heat as a babyface that he leaned on the hate... Did everything people didn't want to see, actually just like Vince has done quite many times himself too.... Huh.... never really realized that Jarrett only hated Vince because he was JUST LIKE HIM, and vics versa ...

Unpopular opinion but Rock vs Austin III is my favorite of the trilogy.

19 is my favorite mania for a number of reasons: my dad taped it on vhs so I watched it all the time, Shawn vs Jericho is one of my favorite matches(first Shawn mania match because I started watching in 2000), the last Rock vs Austin as well, only negative was Booker/Triple obvi. But it’s a mania I can mostly watch from start to finish.

The Triple H trivia is sort of correct. They’re thinking of 3 WMs earlier though. 16, not 19. That was the first Mania to definitively end on an emphatic unambiguous heel victory. As opposed to 8’s fuckfinish and 9’s swerve.
Since then there’s also been Miz at 27, Brock at 34, and Roman at 3 in a row. I wouldn’t count Austin’s turn or Seth’s cash-in, personally. Since they weren’t exactly “the heel” going in.
