Yes, I usually do this over the whole summer but that particular year I completed it in 5 days.

Katie, (Katie is my daughter’s name too.)This was an awesome explanation of how to plan out the year. I’m new to homeschooling my grandson. He was in a private Christian school but we decided I would homeschool him due to Covid. I feel at peace with doing this, but a little anxious about getting it right. I have the My Fathers World curriculum and I’m working on getting it planned out. The planner looks like it would help me stay on track. Thanks for your time on helping those of us who have no idea what they’re doing. 😊

Oh I’m so glad it was helpful. I was a little worried it would be information overload.

Just a guide and not a ball and chain lol. Needed this reminder

Yes it is so easy to become burden by our plans instead of letting it guide and stabilize us. I have to tell myself all the time.

My son is definitely stage 1 at almost 4th grade but he's ADHD too.

I get that. I have kids in the same position. That is why I love this planner is because it helps you meet your child where they are at vs where society says they should be.

Love how you suggested to treat this as a guide not a ball and chain

I've never heard of the "Organized Homeschool Planner" before, but it looks really cool and sounds like an awesome resource! I really like the size and layout. I think planning and staying organized and on top of everything can seem like the most overwhelming part at the beginning of the year. Finding the system that works for you helps a lot!

Haha just remember if what your doing works for you and your family don't fix whats broken but it is really fun to plan this way.

Life in the Mundane yeah, I know. Except sometimes it’s just ... broken. And from year to year things change. This year the kids got really involved with the big coop in the area... we got scholarshiped $2500 in classes. So now I have to do more of a block schedule with them to make it work.

Looks like a great planner. This is exactly the same process I go through using homeschool planet.

I love homeschool planet too! We used it for two years before I decided to go back to paper.

  • @homeeducatingthemadlads5241

you make so many good points during this. If you've took your kid out of school why re create school at home? and yet so many of us do it x

I know it seems so easy and yet it happens every day. I did it when I took mine out of school years ago and it took me awhile to understand why things were not working the way I thought they should. 🤦‍♀️

I was thinking of what I want my son to be equipped with when he graduates and the first thing is I don't want him to need a woman to take care of him. I want him to be able to cook for himself and do his own laundry etc. I want him to be self sufficient.
