  • James Grant performing a rarely played track (at least, acoustically) from the Strange Kind Of Love Album at a fantastic night in The Newton Room, Millport, Cumbrae in June 2016. Some alcohol may have been taken....
By the way, there is a bit of Talking Heads at the end of this. Rights and publishing for that and Up Escalator definitely not mine
Rights etc belong to someone else..

Any guitarists who can shed light on how James has his guitar tuned here can you let me know. Think he has the 3rd string tuned to something other than G. Maybe one other....the final chord tells a story but I can't seem to work it out...

@@saintannes1 Yes if you know him well enough to ask that would be great...be interesting to hear what he says. Further evidence of some ''re-tuning'' is that it's not his main guitar! I'm working on a few covers of Love & Money / James G. right now - there is a lot subtle detail in his writing and playing. Saw him loads...a fantastic songwriter and performer. The rest of the band were excellent too.

Ally...I have asked James and the tuning is D, A, F#, D, A and D. Thats the tuning he uses for his second guitar..the 'blonde' one thats in this video. The Gibson he plays mainly is in standard. Hope this helps.

@@saintannes1 Thanks v. much Ian. Open D tuning then (e.g. Big Yellow Taxi) Pls thank him for sharing that. Now I'm gonna be ages working out those cool chords up the neck in the middle eight. Time for James to do some 'homemade' videos and give us half a chance..!
