Cassidy Breaks Down Drake & Kendrick's Rap Styles: Drake's Got A Lot of Styles (Flashback)

  • Last year, Cassidy highlighted Drake's versatility as a rapper while breaking down Kendrick Lamar and Canadian rapper's rhyme styles. Cassidy pointed out that Drake doesn’t even have to rhyme words to come off smooth before placing himself into the conversation. Cassidy claimed he never rhymes just one syllable as he considers that "cheating." Later in the clip, he gave credit to other rappers, such as Fabolous, the Griselda crew, and Eminem.

Consistency is the key , the mind is like google search algorithms , the more you put a certain information in , you get recommendations quickly , so once you rhyme like " Hocus pocus, comatosed , i overdosed them on facts // loads will choke , they going ghost like they've been smoking on crack " almost every syllable rhyme .... Poetry would help rappers and the hiphop listener understand lyricism.
    Syllabics, rhyme and near/slant rhyme, as well as assonance and alliteration form the foundation of a lyricist.
    The top tier excel at strong similes, metaphors, analogies, entendres and lyrical miracle wordplay, storytelling, etc
    Lupe and Cassidy lyrical 👑
    As a Poet/writer to hear Cassidy indicate he doesn’t acknowledge near/slant rhyme is borderline 🤯 . Rhyming every syllable isn’t necessarily syllabics; to me Cassidy is describing his preference for combining syllabics and strict rhyming as a means to knit pick between whose a better lyricist is how you take away the fluidity of the word art form
    Y’all must remember though about KDOT from Poe Man Dreams:
    “I know some rappers using big words
    To make their similes curve
    My simplest shit be more pivotal
    I penetrate the hearts of good kids and criminals

My 8 year old brother can rhyme an entire bar for hours. Bahahahaha. That bs is light work. Cas only mentions a few figurative languages like smiles, metaphors, analogies, and multi entendres,. I wonder if he knows about Pac's usage of alliteration in "If I Die 2nite"???? I wonder if he knows of AZ's usage of all that bs + hyperbole, onomatopoeia, personification, oxymoron, etc??? There is more to lyrics than how many syllables you use in a bs rhyme. He needs to study poetry like Pac. Perhaps he will then be able to finally win a rap battle in 20 years

      Yeah lyricism is surely way more than syllabic rhymes, but i think he's saying making most sylables rhyme when telling a story that makes sense and while using metaphors and similes at the same time is way more difficult..
      But it's true that most people in rap music have a narrow minded conception of lyricism , there are triple entendre without sylables rhymings, there are pure poetry, creative storytelling in songs like "amongst kings" by Nas or "close encounters" by jay electronica, these are crazy lyrical prowess whitout multisyllabics rhymes needed..andre 3000 is such a lyrical titan i don't know if he used that many multisyllabic rhymes..

Two syllable word rhyming and 3 syllable word rhyming are for the Creators with that pen to put words together like a Thousand piece puzzle 🧩 The Word scheme and Wordplay matters to Rappers like Cassidy and the reason why he's very respected as a MC...I think Drake a Great Rapper with Wordplay and can switch flows but Kendrick is the MC who can Word Scheme with Wordplay and have Metaphors and Triple Entendres😂

    @nkubitothierry741 Před 12 dny +3

    Kdot uses multi syllables in most of his songs it should have been very easy to come up with aleast one example. What makes his raps even more interesting is his flows, he's very creative in the way he switches them and still manages to ride the beat insanely. You could never hear him using the same flow over again which ive seen many rappers do which to me seems like they run out of flows even though they would still have more words to say. With drake, most of his flows sound the same, the lyrics might be alright but over all I don't really see an mcee when I'm listening to drake. His music overall give me a good vibe but even if i hear a bar I don't get really excited because I can't tell whether he came up with that line himself knowing that he has Ghostwriters.
