  • Here's a new budget offering from Kubey Knife Co., the "Bluff" which is described by the company as being an "Axis Lock!" Yup, not using the generic name, "bar lock" on this model, but then again, that Benchmade patent has lapsed, so.....
At any rate, a fine little cutter this one is with a solid lock-up and decent size. Check it out!

Hey bud. When you reverse flick it, do you find that you hit the crossbar lock??

Not so far, but I haven't carried it enough to give my full experience with reverse flick...

Hey buddy. I got mine and man out of box it’s SUPER stiff. There’s also side to side play. When I tighten pivot to get rid of play it’s so stiff I can’t open the knife. Any recommendations? Did you experience this? Thanks

No I did not on my copy. Definitely sounds like yours should go back in either get another or simply get a refund. Kubeys are usually pretty consistent in quality.

This actually looks good with ultem. Uses bronze washers but not as smooth as spyderco/benchmade. Also HATE the plunge grind. Such a good knife but once you sharpen it, game over. Why’d they overlook that?! Might have to modify mine

I wonder if there is a thumb stud that can fit this one 🤔

So is ultem hard or squishy, etc.? Thank you.

Thanks. I know some guys complain about the plunge grind but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal

Don’t see the attraction with plastic ‘er Ultem scales. Guess it’s just the new hotness but it looks cheap to me. (Think BGPT stands for Bridgeport, most probably the designer.)

Yup, one in a long line of plastics for handles and probably a fad, but in good company with G10, Micarta, Richlite, FRN, GRN, etc ....

It looks a bit like the Bridgeport 395, I’d say you’re right

Hate to say it, but every knife maker is coming out with an Ultem and it's an ant farm without the ants and a fish tank without the fish. I appreciate that the material is super hard, but the inards ain't worth seeing. Maybe Olight can shine a light out of their next Oknife?

...never know 😊 Truth be told, knife enthusiasts are like any other crowd in that we tire fairly quickly of trends and the latest, only to be replaced by another trend and latest... Lol!
