      Was it a regional configuration or the long haul?

      It was the regional configuration (no premium economy)

    • @crispetravelfoodadventures
      @crispetravelfoodadventures Před 5 lety +1

      It’d be interesting to compare to the long-haul config. I’m surprised SQ would be tight on the leg room. Like you, I’m tall at 188cm so I could be a bit pressed for space.

    I enjoyed the SQ a350 (MH) from SIn-CAN. The entertainment system was good - the in flight map had innovative features including tail rego, nearest cities information (population of city, elevation and weather conditions). Even that you can use the touch screen and seek other cities from around the world on the map. And cna see the population

    Singapore actually has one of the best Economy Class seats with a consistent 32 inches of pitch and well designed features. If you would like to see "tight", look at Finnair's standard seats with only 31 inches max of pitch. Service is generally good and one of the more consistent and no flight with them is bad. I flown them 4 times in the last months and while service on some flights were better than others, they were all great. The food and IFE are not as good as Emirates though. Nice video though :)

    • @naturallyherb
      @naturallyherb Před 4 lety

      It's surprising that you found Finnair's A350 economy tight. I felt that the legroom was more than adequate. If you really want to experience some of the worst economy seats anywhere then it has to be Cathay's 10 abreast 777. Not only does it have even less legroom being a 10 abreast 777 means very narrow, sub 17 inch seats, rock hard seats with little padding, and very little recline. Avoid that at all costs.

    • @TheBalkenende
      @TheBalkenende Před 2 lety

      Thomas flew the A350-900 ‘medium haul economy cabin’ (as I like to call it, because these planes do not seem to be used on long flights to Europe). It is the latest economy cabin. It is well documented on the internet that those A350’s come with a slightly reduced seat pitch. The A350’s used for flights to Europe have the true 32” pitch. These planes have the 2013 economy class seats. However all A350’s on Singapore Airlines have narrower 18” seat width compared to the more comfortable 19” on their 777’s and A380’s.

    Good video. Planning to take Singapore Airlines next year, my first time for this airline. Hope I can get the last row of either economy cabin. I'm a short and small guy so legroom will be OK for me for an over 20hours flight with 2 stopovers not counting the very long layovers. The main reason why I don't take this airline. But for you legroom will be very uncomfortable for you especially on a very long flight. Take the aisle seat as I usually do now especially the center seats. That way it's easier for you to stretch and go to the WC.

    Great trip report. With row 54 being against a bulkhead did you notice if this particular row has limited recline compared to any other row? I've pre selected 54K for my upcoming SIN-BNE redeye.

    • @ThomasMackay
      @ThomasMackay  Před 5 lety +1

      54K has the same recline (possibly more) than the regular economy seats. Despite being at the bull head, there is still room behind the seat back when fully reclined. If you want a good seat for the way home, try 70B. I just did it last night on the way home SIN-BNE

      @@rickmorgan1441 It may be due to the configuration of your aircraft - some SQ A350s are configure with Premium Economy so may not have row 70. Regardless, on my flight, 70B was the very last row of economy with only 2 seats instead of 3. Good luck!

      If you think the A350 is cramped try flying this product on the B787-10, the legroom is the same but the seat is 1 inch narrower, I was lucky the middle seat next to me was empty but if it was a full flight and you got stuck in the middle or on the window it would be very claustrophobic

      The leg room is a very subjective issue depending on how tall you are. If every airlines cater spacious legroom for all tall big built passenger in Economy class, the airline will go bankrupt faster. Consider Singapore Airlines Business Class next time.
