What makes me sad is the fact this dad and son duo were nothing but nice, regular people
It does baffle me that a spirit who been wronged would go after people who did nothing to them, especially if they weren't even born at all during their time.
This is why I really really like Shutter 2004, the spirit doesn't hunt random people but instead goes after the culprits

Like in white lady where the spirit only took the lives of those that had burned her inside the shed but not the woman who just happens to get caught into the fray and that unknowingly dated the man that was responsible for the white lady's death. Mostly pinoy horror drama movies. The spirits only go back for revenge but never hurt innocent people.

Knowing it was an actual actress that played Jane Doe that had to lay for hours staying completely still on that table is frigging amazing. Not even saying a word she scares the hell out of everyone. Applause for that beauty 🙌💗

@@justinstrien6904 In many evil, or antagonist wins. That became fashionable and there are so many movies that end in such a way, evil wins...I don't like those movies, that is done just for the shock value, and this is one example of such a movie.
I appreciate the touch that Jane's internally mangled body looks perfectly fine outside which connects to the theme of depression, since their outwardly positive wife and mother took her own life without ever showing something was terribly wrong on the inside.

I don't think 66% is enough Jane Doe's expressions alone was a 100% scare score to me this movie is absolutely terrifying

This is one of my personal favorite horror films of all time!!
Also, after watching the film numerous times, I like to think that the cat wasn't actually injured when they scooped it out of the vent, that was just the first illusion from Jane Doe.
That's a really fucked up scene. Tommy unknowingly killed the only thing that was left from his wife.
@kumi4395 right!? I remember thinking that the second time I watched it since it seemed unlikely that the cat would run into something bigger and more aggressive than itself in the vents.
The dad unknowingly took the life of the last thing left behind from his wife AND the love of his sons life but striking his girlfriend.
It's heartbreaking but fuckin brilliant!

@@lessismore8533 In reality, the cat most likely died, while the girlfriend did not. the cat was inside the building, while the girlfriend could not have entered and at the end of the film only 2 bodies were removed from the morgue.
I love the mystery in this movie! And how you never find out if Jane is a malevolent entity or just an innocent woman trying to protect herself after decades of being trapped in her body!
Likely the former. Remember, she also killed the people that first found her.
@@nunyabiznes33 IK! That's what makes it so interesting! she didn't kill the people who transported the body which makes you ask did she kill the house people because they tried to hurt her or did she have visible damage and used them to heal herself.
It is obviously that she is malevolent, she makes bad things and killed people.
These father and son duo are definitely not bad guys. So no love for her.
@@MrOverHeels No, they are not bad guys, but the problem is we know almost nothing about her, and that is what I don't like in cinematography today, too much ambiguity...Some movies end in such a way that nothing important is solved or revealed...That may be good for something, and used as a spice, so to say, but today there is too much ambiguity in movies.
Jane doe actress really did a brilliant job, seriously she just sleep in the whole movie but eveytime camera point to her it make my skin crawl

Glad you finally made a recap of this! One of the greatest horror movies and this movie was made in the modern day horror industry, where jumpscares were the norms while this focused primarily on suspense. Best part for me is that the two of never overreact even if they are against ghosts and their reaction is like "lets just fcking do this"
This film still has jumpscares just not alot which is good
I do too love their reactions because it's true to life they'd be more inclined to keep a level head in scary times due to their work.

I didnt get scared easily, and im a huge Asian horror fans, but this movie... Got me hooked like crazy, when i lost my passion to watch a movie on a cinema again. Then this movie got screened and i got excited all over again..
one of my favorite theories about this film is that they were right- she was an innocent person who was wrongfully murdered at the witch trials, and that in her death, she somehow became one, or something like it. And that the reason why the son died is because the father didn't keep his promise- or at least didnt fully understand what he was promising. The idea being that she would trade injuries with him- he'd take on all her hurt to revive her- including her heart. The stabbing of it is what broke the promise. I think someone pointed out that the cat's injury had changed something about her? and that the cat had also offered itself to her, to heal her. But, the cat was killed before she could finish healing herself from it.
I REALLY wish there was a sequel because i'd love to know if this theory is accurate- a good ole evil spirit/witch is fun, but a broken soul only seeking to be fixed, but in the process becoming the very same evil they were originally accused of? tasty. Another great question is how that family found the corpse. I forget? was it like they were rennovating and unearthing the corpse unleashed its curse?
I wouldn't want a sequel but definitely a prequel to the family from the beginning!
That scene of the radio is my kind of scare. Not a jumpscare to scare you, but something to disturb you.
Out of all the mortuary movies, this one gives pure fear.

This movie did creep me out when i watched it back then. Something about the morgue is very very creepy even though I dont feel scared in a graveyard.
Recently watched Speak no Evil. Would love to see how the scare score goes crazy while reviewing that.

66% are you kidding me? This is one of the best and scariest horror movie I've seen. I got goosebumps in a scared way when they learned that Jane is a witch, I'll give this film 93% scare score. A great film for a small budget horror.

I watched horror a lot and I dont get scared easily but this movie man. This movie is that good I actually can't sleep at night even I still scroll past it as quick as I can when I see the poster with her face. Everytime people asked me for a recommendation I would always give this movie so I'm surprised it's actually underrated and not many people know this movie

It was pretty spooky and stressful, and I think definitely deserving of that scare score. I'm sorry that you have to be around dead bodies, and I hope none of them turn out to be be vengeance witches!

I saw this movie just last month with my mom. I had originally intended to sit for a few minutes to accompany her, but ended watching the whole way through. A great horror movie with a solid story and cast. The father-son mortician duo is my favourite part of the movie!

This was one of the more cerebral atmospheric horror movie I've seen. It was brilliant. The ending was excellent

Now I am kind of curious what line of work do you profession in that would have you see multiple dead bodies? Only ones I can think of are homicide detectives, doctors/nurse in terminal wards, death roll prison staff, spec ops/police/military, funeral house, priests..... actually now that I am listing them there are a surprising number of jobs that would have you see corpses.
I'd heard a lot of good things about this movie & it didn't disappoint, though I didn't like the ending. I had the same problem that I had with Smile, where it feels like the writers threw away any thematic poignancy they'd been building for the sake of a nihilistic, downer ending. Because horror movie. I think it would've been better if it had ended with the dad giving up his life for his son, as the movie seemed to lean heavily on him letting go. He already had to kill his cat, now to save his son he had to die the same way Jane did. That's gravitas, & frankly sadder since the son would have to live on after losing pretty much everything in his life. But he'd still be alive. But maybe that's just me, & my love of bittersweet endings.
Also, as someone who's played a corpse in haunted houses, I can say from experience how difficult it is to lay perfectly still and not give any reaction to what's going on around you. Kudos to the actress.

I love this film. The 3 main characters absolutely smashed it, especially Olwen Kelly how has a hell of a range considering her character is ‘dead’ the whole time.

This will forever be the one movie/certain media that generally disturbed me, along with my first encounter with a Reaper Leviathan in Subnautica, and delving into the rabbit hole of the Loud House fandom.
Seeing the father physically decay in front of his son is tough stuff and cases about Jane/John Does often make me feel pity and sadness because most of the time they are lost, innocent victims. Either way excellent video and of course the hilarious clips were on point as always.
I loved this movie! I was actually going to rewatch it soon! But this is just as good!

Loved this movie. I agree that the ending was good but a bit lacking.
Scariest for me is the shadow in the mirror. If you pause the film you can see it's grotesquely taller than Jane, deformed in the waste plus burned.
It made me think about how that's what she really looked. I was relieved when he turned the corner and she wasn't there lol.
