Mooji - Don`t be afraid of emptiness, get used to it

Get used to this emptiness. In the beginning it might feel like you are lost.
Do not panic, this is a fleeting phase.
A little tension may be present. Be aware of this.
This is nothing new to you, but make no story of it.
Have you ever felt a turbulence, but with no identity?
Without this after-thought, this interpretation, all is just a flow.
The serpent mind says, "Look, there is tension, you are not home yet."
Remember: mind does not exist except as an appearance.
You are the witness of its appearance and play.
    Nothing affects the formless observer.

It's so true that even those who love you would rather you be doing 'something' and be unhappy doing it, than to see you being happy doing nothing. Utterly bizarre!?

    • @d1427
      @d1427 Před 6 lety +2

no, it is not true- the ones who really love you would rather see you doing something and be happy too [in terms of carrying your weight and be content]. Nobody likes a happy free loader, and even less a miserable one, especially when is family. Being happy does not imply irresponsibility. But then there is also a misunderstanding of what happiness is- let's not mix it up with pleasure...

I found that to be true. I did suggest that rather than doing "nothing" I could be busy looking for and getting into trouble... It was said "Well, at least you would be doing "something." Really? I got a divorce. Ha Ha Ha Why are divorces so expensive??? Because they are worth it. Now I can "do nothing" in silence...peacefully. It was for the best...for everyone. Painful but necessary. Shanti

@@d1427 YES, pulling ones weight is essential. However, expectations of someone to do something that they are not physically or mentally capable of doing is cruel and will cause everyone more suffering. A good leader of a family or organization knows what gifts others within a group have and can give. One cannot fit a square peg in a round hole. Discernment

    "Get used to it."
Very true and beautiful message. At first it's uncomfortable to just be. But with practice it becomes the norm and you adapt to it and it is no longer uncomfortable. This is also how you gain incredible self control and can break away from all addictions.

Since I could remember (from a child) I've never known what I wanted to be when I grew up; I toyed with some things when I was younger like being a doctor, makeup artist, nurse etc. But I've never had a true interest in anything but being free. Free to make a mistake and learn from those lesson, free to take a walk or shower when i want, free to simply just be. I am now 33 yrs old with a child now and I still really don't know. I've worked of course but only to have short term employment in large part of me not being able to sit still for 8+ hours straight, take a scheduled lunch/break on time and more importantly deal with a variety of ppl. What's happening and what environment should I be in since I am ok with emptiness. All I've ever wanted was to just be happy.

the emptiness he speaks of has a few facets. We think we are the sum of what arises in our consciousness making us very full. To be empty is to be the awareness of all that arises. So then there is a great space of awareness that is aware of that which comes and goes. There is also a recognition of everything around you as part of that awareness which is the kingdom or buddhaland or nirvana. You can actually feel it and then know in truth you are it. that spacious presence you bathe in is you.

I was afraid of the emptiness in the beggining
My ego reacted with deep sorrow, because I was letting it die. slowly.
It could no longer tell me "oh we can do this and that or that?! Because I did no longer have the will to flee or distract myself.
Because I had reached that state of not wanting anymore.
I had had enough of creating suffering in my life. So this was a natural process.
Now everytime i feel this sadness when I an empty. I hold presence to that sadness. It is not something I do. It is compassion.💗 a natural flow

Hardest part is knowing the truth but hiding it & acting in front of the society just to move around. However you can only play this drama for short period if you are a true truth seeker. Eventually it will blow, you will have to leave everything behind for the nothingness. The world doesn't need happy blissful people. The world needs people to think they are as machines in order to run without rest, chasing goal after goal, collecting materialistic possessions after materials until the death.

  • @mariaconcepcionpomarrossel5741

Dearest CZcamsrs, Advaita practitioners, Mooji, Papaji and Ramana Maharshi followers and lovers... I'd be really grateful to you if you gave me your opinion on this matter: I understand perfectly in my heart of hearts what Mooji states about the slavery of the sense of doership. I acknowledge his words as the purest, most beautiful and simple truth. Yet the fact is that we do need to pay our taxes, care for our families, work very hard to survive and it's even harder after the economic crisis, the rising unemployment, etc. So how do you manage this? So far, I've been unable to make it. My field of work, for example - teaching and mastery of foreign languages - is extremely demanding and competitive (well, all of them are in a sense) and it's really killing me, yet I can't "lower out guard..." I can't stop "being an achiever": studying more, keeping on improving in my field of work, carrying out more and more projects and compromises - otherwise I really risk losing my few chances at securing my and my family's preservation. I enjoy that up to a point, but I'd enjoy it far more if there were no threats involved in case you fail! In my country (Spain) right now your chances at getting and preserving a job are scanty even for the "bestest of the bests", there is and there will always be someone who is far better than you in what you do and there's always the obvious and very real need to pay a house, three meals a day each month for you, for your loved ones. Mentally, I've been unable to get to the point of letting go of the sense of doership because of that; it's really making me anxious. I'm sure it's me who is not doing it right, because I firmly believe in Mooji's teachings and he's a true light for the spirit, yet one still needs to manage in a world which demands the exact opposite to what he describes in his teachings. So how can you manage it all? I'm really, really grieved about this subject... I can't see any way out, since long. Any opinion (even trolling if you like, no worries! :D) will be highly appreciated. Thank you very much and Namaste!!

+María Concepción I can suggest you to read more on Buddhism and Taoism, especially Wu Wei.
Our western culture incorporates elements of those philosophies but in grotesque forms such as life coaching LMFAO
That stuff can't be coached. All those satsangs and books are only 'fingers pointing to the Moon'. You'd better INTERNALIZE it. Spend some time alone, travel, spend more time in nature. Try to observe yourself, your actions, thoughts, feelings. Don't identify yourself with them, don't cling to them, just watch them come and go. Get to know yourself better.
About the crisis - this is really beyond our control. You do what you gotta do, the rest would be trying to bend the spoon (the Matrix). But there is no spoon! It's only you who can actually bend and approach life differently.
It's a journey. Relax :) If you want to talk some more, PM me!

      Black Kids You're right!
I was just nitpicking over words. 'Life coaching' is a laughable term to me.
I'd also rather listen to people dressed in robes than smiley, bald guys on steroids/suit wearing George Clooney clones. I'm not saying 'life coaching' doesn't help. It's just my preference.
I'm only having a laugh here, no big deal :)

    • @HanemanHunters
      @HanemanHunters Před 8 lety

Black Kids The way I see it - Buddhism = inner transformation to escape suffering, Taoism (Wu Wei is a part of it) = going with the flow. That's vague, I know.
I only suggested those two belief systems to get more insight to the matters in question. I think that's what guys like Mooji did - absorbed whatever's useful from each philosophy.
Happy New Year, fellow traveler! :)

you say "I understand" who is it that says this? the true self would not speak of such words. all this is mind. the mind is making up illusions of some future fear. all illusion. you simply deal with what is at the present moment. simply be and the totality will take over.

These are the times. While the Ashram and Monastery still exist, the division between secular and "spiritual" life isn't so clear cut as it used to be. Short of dropping your current, ensnared existence in the marketplace and becoming a wandering ascetic, the challenge is to embrace contradiction in your life. Don't resist the pressure, yet don't be consumed by it. Hold space within, there is always room within, for "opening" to occur. Are you making choices based on this outer pressure? If you recognize unhappiness in your direction, then you must change direction. I was a schoolteacher, making a decent living but miserable. When I resigned I felt a huge load leave me. There are any number of jobs I can do, but without the money and status that this society presses us to believe we need. I'm a tram operator at a ski area in northern Vermont and I'm much more content. I am single but that also is a choice I've made. Trust your individual path and listen.

Emptiness is a mental phenomenon . If the mind has no object or thought to focus on then at first it is interpreted as empty . However this quickly turns to fullness when the “you” is no longer involved and the realization of consciousness awake to itself becomes the dominate reality.

Yes-but it depends how sages express this paradigm. That emptiness is full and is being. What mind? Body mind is the thinking loop of brain activity. Universal mind is the transcendent mind ENCOUNTERED in PURE meditation. Maintained by J Krishnamurti, Alan Watts, Adyashanti and many more. Two sides of a coin-Something and nothing. Nothing is where everything arises from. We cannot have something without it's opposite Nothing? What you express has the feel;ing of truth and so does Mooji.

When he speaks of emptiness, I think he's referring to the ego no longer questioning self. Not literal emptiness. Its easy to trick yourself into believing you no longer need any more experiences and are content but in reality very few people are at this stage in their journey.
People at these Satsang's may actually be at that stage, or just think they are. Either way its up to individual interpretation whether his words are useful or not, and is entirely dependant on ones current journey.

Something I DON'T understand: Enlightened people say that a separation came after they thought about themselves from a third person perspective. Example "I don't like myself". A guru will say that this statement shows that the 'observer' and the 'self' are different. But, I sometimes get annoyed with myself and I might say "Darren you twat, why did you do that"! Does this mean my higher (real) self is a foul mouthed bully? No, surely it means the mind can think of itself as two entities. In fact, I can quite easily imagine an observer, viewing another observer viewing my mind. The point is, it is not satisfactory to suggest we have a deeper self simply because we can perceive our minds as separate. What does everyone else think?

Darren Morgan you can't view yourself as the observer, because you are the observer. the point where you stated you can imagine yourself viewing the observer viewing. in reality you can't because you are always the observer at present observing. if that makes sense

Yes that makes sense. At some point 'something' is observing. But why are we not saying that the thing observing is simply our brain? I have been fairly deep in meditation before and felt disconnected, an amazing feeling. But, I simply put this down to the fact the mind can express lots of emotions and feelings, one of which is clearly the sense of separation. Why do so many people say that this 'viewer' is literally separate from the brain? Granted, it feels that way, but there is no evidence that the thinking is separate.

in your 'deep meditation when you felt disconnected', was there a brain, a viewer, a Darren? Who was disconnected and from what?

You are a piece of consciousness--the You voice that yells at yourself (the person) is aware of Itself and of You the person from the same "position." It is everything, in which you function, as perceived by You, who are itself.

This is easy when your sitting at a retreat or teaching it to folks, but being out in the 🌎 world is another thing.Retreats are fun, being out in the battlefield is another thing. Specially nowadays!!!

porkyo123 Yes precisely, the World you choose to see is inside you. All qualities stem from your own interpretations. 'There is nothing either good nor bad but thinking makes it so' - William Shakespeare

It is not what the Western World is taught starting with our parents. Anti-depressants, alcohol, drugs or work so much to get, have, do, go, fix, own, repair. The next relationship, place, thing, achievement. What is next after the next. It is maddening. They have so many more things and they are so UNHAPPY. Poor people may wish they had those problems but it is the achieving of having all those things that will bring on the unhappiness sickness. Only human beings are this miserable. Once you HAVE all those things, you must do the upkeep on all those things, protect against losing them and the desire for MORE is still there. There is nothing wrong by not being poor but most of the well off people, particularly Hollywood, Wall Street, upper middle class and rich are miserable people on the inside. Get inside their family life and you will know this. Don't read about them in the paper and judge them, instead, learn from them. Make your life better than theirs. There are many Masters out there. Mooji, Papaji, Maharshi, Yogananda, SadHguru, Neem Karoli Baba and Ram Dass. Find teachers who resonate with you and do your work. You are here to learn, grow, find truth and joy. Shanti

its not true that if a thief passes a holy person that he only sees his pockets. a holy person is recognised by thiefs just by looking at him because holy people have radiance on thier face and there is something different about them. he will only look at a bogus holy person pockets.

I respectfully disagree. We willingly incarnate into this world to experience love, pleasure, face our demons, make connections with people, compete, and it’s only natural to be unhappy when these things are not present in your life. If you’re telling me you are happy and you having nothing going on in your life and nothing giving you external pleasure you would be lying
