  • At UCL, we understand how science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) are fundamental to the way we live our lives and shape so many of the things that we see and do every day.
Professor Asterios Gavriilidis discusses micro- and milli- chemical reactors, a recent development where the reaction takes place in a very small reactive zone, significantly decreasing the required materials and energy transport length scales. This results in better control of the processing environment, allowing precise temperature control, excellent mixing, substantial reduction of risk for highly exothermic reactions, as well as decrease of reactor size. The design of such reactors is a chemical engineering challenge, requiring new fabrication techniques and a thorough understanding of fluid mechanics. #SpringIntoSTEM #UCLEngineering #ChemicalEngineering #ChemicalReactors #ProcessIntensification
