Parijo
Parijo, which is the name of Dawood Sarkhosh’ 2snd album, is also a traditional name for girls in Central Afghanistan. The album “Parijo”, came out in 2001 in London, United Kingdom. The album implies 10 tracks with completely new composition, and has been printed more then 2000 copies. This album is available all over the world.
At a time where Afghan music, song, historic, cultural and artistic values have burnt in the flames of annihilation to ashes, like a phoenix, Pari Joo has arisen like a mythological bird to offer new beginnings. “Thou shall not die, if thy heart is enlivened with love”
Pari joo has three major characteristics:
It is the presentation of a new form of song formed from a connoisseur’s knowledge of Afghan music
It is the tasteful selection of the words of various poets put in harmony with the spirit of the music
It is the successful extraction of new songs from the depth of Hazara culture
With the exception of a Pashtoo lyric arranged and accompanied with Hazara music, and the first part of “Nagara” all of the lyrics and music are new and composed by Dawood Sarkhosh.
