New York OR London
Which is better👇? Tell me below
New York is a 1000 times better.
How is new york better?@@chandlerbingbong
@@chandlerbingbongLondon is 1001 times better
New york and london are quite similar, but london is better in my opinion. New york has rats, overpiled garbage and agressive homeless people. Not to mention alot of people try to scam u there.
@@arisyttt It's better in every conceivable way. There simply isn't enough space on the internet to list them all. London is a dull drag in comparison. Put it this way - if someone offered you a city break in London or New York, which would you choose? I rest my case. 👍
This was perhaps the best walking tour video of New York City. I've seen on the Internet. Bravo!
Wow, thank you!
I agree.
Love grits you can have them different ways
My great uncle went through Ellis Island. He was from Italy. He planned to send for my grandmother after living in New York for a year, but he died in the first winter he was there. Instead, my grandmother moved from Italy to the UK and consequently here I am (born in the UK). Crazy to think that had he survived, I could have been American.
That's a sad but wild what if story ❤
Surely you wouldn't have been born as you mother would have married somebody else?
@@willnestor6422 yeah well a different version of me 😂
Ohh
You definitely escaped that mate 😂
4:29 "The highest observation deck in Western Europe". NYC will love you for that!
Great video as always. Been many years since I visited last, a vibrant 24-hour city.
The highest observation is Toronto's CN Tower. This building has the largest deck area.
@@newtron1Europe sweet pea.. The point is Europe....
@@rdeaconsa he knows, He's making a different point.
Just had a look on Google Tim and found this.
Underneath the streets of Manhattan, there are more than 100 miles of service pipes bringing steam to about 1,800 buildings.
Steam may seem like a primitive source of energy (think of steamboats and steam engines- we don't see those anymore).
But when New York's first power plant opened in 1882, steam from clean water greatly reduced the amount of soot created by individual coal-burning furnaces which were the primary source of heat at the time.
thanks for that :-)
Most of NY apartments still has their radiators even if they're not used.
Municipally & utility provided steam heating is very common in most urban American cities; it is a byproduct of the generation of electricity (an early green-tech to recapture the lost heat for steam).
When I was living in NYC, some hapless soul fell through a loose manhole and was boiled alive.
Why waste steam? If it's produced by the power plant as a by-product of producing electricity, circulating it to buildings is a very practical usage.
The fact that we get free videos from Tim on CZcams is priceless; keeping the knowledge & entertainment alive. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
In 1982, I went to NYC with my family. I was obsessed with trees and wanted to locate a sweetgum in Central Park. I couldn't find one. Eighteen years later, I took my wife to NY from Boston (where I'm from) via Amtrack, and as we're strolling through CP, I see the tree I had been looking for. It was a happy personal moment.
I live in London now and I see sweetgum trees everywhere, LOL.
I think you should be commended for the behind the scenes work that would have gone into filming this. In NYC that's not always easy. Superb job well done!
Thanks Steve appreciate that comment
Check in the post Steve. 😂
I work across the walkway from Rockefeller Center. One of my coworkers used to work for the company that manages Rockefeller Center. One of his responsibilities was to get into a helicopter and scout the forests for the Christmas tree. Two trees actually, a backup tree also has to be selected in case something happens to the primary tree.
Thank you. I'm a native New Yorker and you've captured some of the best of NYC. Next time, don't forget the Outerboroughs for their neighborhoods. They'vre equally fun and entertaining, in their own way.
The content in this could have filled various vlogs, not just one, you surpassed yourself with this. Looking forward to what more is to come, so much variety on your channel!
Means alot , thanks Chris
I was a NYC Tour Director for over 30 years from the 1970s until the 2000s-every time you talk about “great views”, my mind instantly remembers the fantastic World Trade Center/and how those magnificent buildings were attacked and the nearly 3000 innocent people who were murdered ( the death certificates for the WTC victims listed the cause of death was murder”). We will not forget-we MUST not forget !
Probably one of your best videos. Had no interest in visiting New York until I watched this. Absolutely fascinating and brilliantly edited. Looks amazing!
I really enjoy Tim's "travelogues." I imagine that since he's from the UK, he is refreshingly polite, as he thanks just about everyone who serves him, from, in this video, the hot chocolate vender to the pizza vender.
He does this in all his videos. This, I suppose, is all well and good. But what is NOT well and good, is I've never seen anyone, from store vendors to hotel clerks to hotel employees, THANK TIM for his business.
Don't those people know that without PAYING CUSTOMERS, like Tim, those people wouldn't have their jobs? I would not bet on it.
Still, I like to see Tim instill some politeness and gratitude on these people by saying something like, "Oh, (referring to the person's name on the name plate), you forgot to thank me."
The person may apologize and profusely thank Tim. But if the employee looks puzzled, Tim should exlain that since he is a customer the employee should appreciate his business and thank him for it. If the employee still looks puzzled, he could remind the employee that without paying customers like him, the employee will soon be out of a job. The employee may see it his way, and thank Tim not only for his business, but for the new found lesson Tim taught him.
Should the employee, however, remain obtuse, or even refuse to thank Tim, I suggest Tim ask for the employee's manager.
The manager will tell Tim that he will address the employee, and then profusely apilogize and thank Tim for his business and for bringing up his concern. And who knows, the manager may offer a complimentary something, or even comp his meal or room.😀👍
Let's make this world a more civil and polite one. Tim, and anyone else who profusely thank ungrateful service or product providers could greatly help when they stop doing this and, instead, demand to be thanked for the business they provide.
Thanks for reading.
Oh I'm really looking forward to watching this. And nearly 40 mins! Thank you. This channel is what CZcams should be - informative, interesting, fun - and showing you things and places, some that you know, some that you might see one day, and some you might never get to see. I love it.
Wow, thank you!
I lived in Manhattan back in the 80's. Thanks for doing this walk about. The city really has improved I must say.
Am I the only one who’s sad that the Empire State Building has been turned into a Disney like attraction? I love the history of it. That being said, this is the absolute best video I’ve ever seen of the view from The Empire State Building, well done Sir. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼.
My MIL came back from Germany after WW2, her husband served during the occupation. She said she cried seeing the Statue of Liberty she was so happy to be home. We have a photo of her standing in front of the ship that brought her back. Thanks for a wonderful tour of NYC Tim.
The steamy vents.... its from the power station. They send steam down under the streets and it is used to heat/cool buildings. It's a district heating system that has been working since the 1880s and is one of the largest (naturally) if not THE largest such system in the world.
The Art Deco details on display at the Empire State are absolutely sublime.
Not sure it's still a thing, but a cheap way to see the Statue is to get the Staten Island ferry (with all the commuters) and simply go round the turnstiles and get back on to come back. You'll go past it and get a good view. And I am sure it was free. At least it was when I did it.
You put so much effort into your videos and that’s what makes them so good
I appreciate that!
Thanks so much for comment
I work as flight crew and go there regularly. There is a lot to see and do. There is free stuff but generally very expensive. Food is ridiculous. My hotel is (fortunately) paid for. What kills it for me is how busy it is. Avoid Xmas, like the plague and other holiday times. I went during COVID and it was earily quiet. Great video Tim, but I do prefer Chicago. Also tons to see, but without the hordes.......
......but for those who do go; my suggestion. Take Roosevelt Island aerial tramway (cable car) to Roosevelt Island, giving you unique street and river views. Walk around the tranquil island (30 minutes) giving you amazing city views. Take the water taxi ($5) to Battery Park. Head to the free Staten Island Ferry taking you past the Statue of Liberty to New Jersey. Board the water taxi back to Mid Town. Plenty to see at each stop. It is a round trip. Staggering views on the water and dirt cheap.
@@philipjamesparsonsI also went on the free Staten Island Ferry a few years ago and would absolutely recommend this.
I have never visited either,I have been to L.A which was amazing but would visit San Francisco, it looks nice too.
@@BrianKitching-wv5nh I lived in the US, for years (Florida) and to be honest, the cities are not what it is all about. I like the open road and amazing scenery. I recommend a book called Most Scenic Drives in America: 120 spectacular road trips by Readers Digest. These are just amazing road trips.
@@philipjamesparsons The Washington to California coast drive is spectacular 👌
Wow! New York looks more colourful than I thought. Great video Tim, no idea how you fit that all in a few days!
Me neither ;-)
I just admire anyone who can tolerate heights. All that glass would be my worst nightmare. Couldn’t put myself through that. I loved the tour, something I intended to do in the eighties but never made it. Awesome Tim. Tku
Brilliant…..loved it! Thank you Tim. I’m a London girl, born and breed; so have to say London. NY seems all new, big and a bit over the top where as London has more history.
I celebrated my 10th birthday in New York with my Family. One of the best memories of my entire life is birthday present shopping in FAO Schwartz as a ten year old... I was there for thr Christmas Lights switch on too. Memories I'll never forget.
Some people suffer "New York Syndrome" where it doesn't live up to expectations and they suffer genuine stress from being underwhelmed. For me, it was every bit of the fairytale. I remember it like a film. Amazing.
The reason for the steam vents is that the city provides heat to many of the buildings (at a cost), and that eliminates the need for each building to have its own heating plant. This method of heating frees the buildings from having the need to have routine fuel deliveries and keeps the power plant in an industrial area where it would not affect the local air quality. (All of the cars in NYC do enough of that) BTW. Excellent videos Tim. Also, my grandfather landed at Ellis Island from Ukraine at the turn of the century. "Slava Ukraini!"
Fantastic vlog, thank you so much Tim. It feels like we've now been to NY ! Hoping to go one day. You covered literally everything we've been talking about doing and seeing, and you chat as tho your audience were travelling with you, it's so enjoyable.
We wanted to experience Times Square at 6.30am too 😄
Thank you for ALL your vlogs, you would make a great travel companion for anybody.
That's such a great comment, It takes time to plan and research the videos, and I always want to feature as much as possible if I'm going to do one of these videos so I appreciate that comment. Thank you so much That's why I do the videos . I hope you will like the others coming up 😉
Looking forward to your take on NYC. As a Brit living in Toronto, hoping you'll come here one day , in the summer Tim when it's hot & sunny 🌞 Gaby & kids would love Canada's Wonderland and shopping at The Eaton Center. You could dine up the CN tower in 360 resteraunt and go to Niagara Falls & the casinos. They have hotels that overlook the falls with spectacular views.- that need your.reviews Tim ! 😊
This is the best ever tour vlog of NYC. I've watched so many videos but this is definitely perfect. You've showed us every single thing in details. Thank-you 😃
Tim I'm watching this very late & I feel as if I was there with you. I've visited Newyork before but at night once on a stop over flight. The next morning I continued my journey. Thank you so much for the tour. I will plan to visit soon.
Brilliant Tim. So much packed into this episode and can't wait for the next. Thanks.😊
More to come!
OMG i wish i was on this one
Me too!
You'll have to butter him up a bit Gaby. Promise him something from the Nintendo Store or Macy's if he takes you!
Thank you Tim I haven’t been to New York since 25 years. It was so wonderful to see it with you ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!. Thank you
Hi Tim, I went to New York years ago. Your video brought back memories of my visit. I love to go back again someday, great city 👍
Been New York 4 times, amazing place, highly recommended, London I go almost every weekend, it has so much more history & is the same vibe.
What an amazing video of your stay in New York. Really enjoyed this one 🇺🇸
All of your videos are excellent but you just raised the bar again to Outstanding. More of these city walks please - can't tell you how enjoying this was! Well done Tim, smashed it.
Absolutely LOVED this Vlog Tim. NYC is on my bucket list for sure. Im really enjoying youre content, thank-you and keep up the AMAZING work.
That was such a great VLOG !!!! I visited summer 2017 but have always wanted to go back especially Nov/Dec seems like a magical months - and now Tim I definitely will 😂😂😂😂

This was such an interesting vlog Tim. It was great to experience so many of the places I've seen in films or on TV
Tim, one of your best yet!! Beautiful job showcasing the some of the best NYC has to offer. Honestly, just fantastic ❤
Wow Tim I'm off to new York next year I really can't wait now 👍😊😁
That was superb Tim, thank you 😊 👏 I'm not comfortable with busy places so could never go, but I don't need to with videos as good as yours. I'm looking forward to seeing what you have next for us from New York 😊
My fav video yet, absolutely loved it. Never been to NY as I can't afford it but wow, what a city!
You are so thorough and honest. Keep the videos coming. Looking forward to seeing lots more.
The production of the video is exceptional!
As a native NYer, this vlog is top-notch! Excellent. I avoid Manhattan now, so it's nice to see this!
OMG Tim them glass floors I had to look away!!! Brave!!! The pizza looked good made me feel hungry. Amazing quality as always thank you for sharing.
Hi Tim looking forward 2 this. Amanda and I married in NYC 24 years ago. Place very special 2 us
I always watch EarthCam so I can watch time square it’s so lovely. I watched the thanksgiving parade yesterday on EarthCam. Always wanted to go to New York thanks for going Tim!
This is such a brilliant vlog Tim. Wonderful camera work and commentary. The views from the Empire State Building etc were amazing. It’s on my bucket list to visit NY and you covered many of my” would like to see and do desires “ . I am really interested in the history as well. You will have to take Casper to the Toy shop when he’s older but you may need a lot of money 😂Great idea with the bikes to get around. Must admit Central Park in the snow would be a good shout. Well Done Again Tim and Thank You for Sharing
Thank you so much for this Tim! After being a channel member since March my husband is now getting into your videos as we are going to New York for his 40th in June! This video is getting us excited 😄
great video Tim! really gave me the new york experience within a video! thank you 🙏
Enjoy watching all your vlogs- You work so hard on all of them, giving as much info as poss in a lovely down to earth way.
I’ve been lucky enough to visit New York many times, and lived in London for over a decade. I’d take New York in a heartbeat.
However, to fully get the complete NYC experience, I would suggest the following.
Firstly, stay in another borough than Manhattan. Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and even Staten Island are all easy to access all the touristy bits in Manhattan, plus you get to experience all the unique qualities each borough has to give. Along with experiencing how the locals live/eat/travel.
Secondly, always take the subway and walk everywhere. I learnt after my first trip, that you miss out on so much when on guided tours and buses. Walking is vital. There’s so much to see when just strolling around. Plus, you’ll recognise so much from film/tv that you might of missed otherwise.
Thirdly, to get the most out of your time in the huge city. Really plan your days out before you go. There are plenty of sights that are situated near each other. Do them all in one day, then plan to visit another area the next.
Fourthly avoid tourist traps. Especially food related. For example juniors cheesecakes. They’re nice but there’s plenty of better places, that will be cheaper and better. Same with the likes of Katz deli. Very nice, but it’s so expensive, and you’re herded in and out like cattle. There are plenty of quality delis around the city. Sadly my favourite
Eisenburgs (near the flat iron building) has been closed since Covid. But they did the best Reuben’s in NYC for me. Just do a bit of research.
Lastly, more a personal one. If you’ve never driven in the US before, don’t start in NYC. We hired a car for our honeymoon to take us from NYC to Vegas, and picked the car up from Battery park Manhattan. I drove it back to our digs in Brooklyn. But the signage in NYC is impossible. I kept missing the turnoff, and we ended up going backwards and forwards over the Brooklyn Bridge 3 times!
Driving to Coney Island wasn’t so bad though, so once you’re used to the signs/roads it’s fine. It was the most stressful hour of my life getting from Manhattan to Brooklyn though!
We were there in the 70s. Wow what a difference from way back then your video brought back so many wonderful memories when my self and my partner were young. We saw Dianna Ross at Radio City Music Hall and visited all the sights in your video. We also went up the old World Trade Centre. Bitter sweet memories. Thanks for a great video. Would love to go back but regrettably long haul is so difficult for us now.
Mariah Carey is playing in Madison Square Garden this Christmas Season.
I still have all the souvenirs and mementos I acquired from our visits to the WTC before 9/11. I never would have thought they'd become such precious keepsakes.
Watched this as I sit here and recover from turkey coma. This is the best way to see New York. Great video Tim.
Hahaha, a turkey coma! Hilarious!
The world's your oyster Tim! Your editing is superb. You take us to places I shall never be able to visit & each destination just gets better and better as you feel like you're almost there yourself when you're watching it. Lots of similarities to London, especially the Toy Shop you visited & the lights in Times Square. Absolutely fab video. Thank you for all your hard work. x J x
Thanks so much judy
Ok tim you have out done yourself. This was amazing so well filmed and packed so much in. Absolutely breathtaking to watch. Bravo tim Bravo loved it
I always watch your videos but this has to be the best video you’ve done ! I’m going to NYC in January and you’ve got me more excited 😊
Thanks for the video, Tim. New viewer and off to New York for the first time next week - this has been really insightful, even more excited now!
That was brilliant Tim, you showed us so much and your editing was incredible! I don`t think I`ve seen a more comprehensive tour of New York, and all in 35 minutes! I thought you were brave to cycle around the city, even though it was early morning. Thanks I thoroughly enjoyed that.
Wonderful video Tim!!! Really captured the vibe of NYC! The Radio City Music Hall Christmas show is a tradition and a must see if you can get tickets. I also like that after a Broadway show if you go to the stage door you can see the cast exiting and they'll speak with you and sign your programme. A hot dog at Coney Island when it is all to yourself - so jealous!
I am watching this as a NYer 😂. The city moves so fast, there’s always something new to experience.
Another great video Tim! Was lucky enough to go a few years ago, but didn't get chance to do some of the things you've included. Now feels like I have!
Really appreciate the obviously hard work that goes into making these. We love it!
Thank you means alot
Wow what a brilliant video Tim. You showed us so much in the short time you were there. We have visited New York in the early 1990's and really want to visit again. Loved every place you showed us and all the history you provided as well. Thank you so much for taking us along.
Tim your vlogs just get better and better great mix of reviews and so well executed, thanks so much your a star ⭐️
One day I will visit New York! Until then I will watch CZcams uploads like this. thanks Tim!
thanks
@@WalkWithMeTim Very welcome!
Coney Island looks like it needs a massive renovation. I’d love to try that Nathan’s hotdog and see the skyscrapers you took us to. Great job mate 🙌
Absolutely fantastic, Tim. You did everything that was worth doing and filmed it all beautifully. It makes me want to revisit NYC even more now. Thanks very much for this video. It was much appreciated!😊👍👏
Well Tim that was an absolutely fantastic vlog 👏🏻 you got to show us lots of tourist places a really enjoyable watch ! I didn’t want it to end 😆
Im terrified of heights my legs were turning to jelly just watching this 😂looks so cool though
Beautiful Art Deco architecture.. I want to go so bad!
Seeing the new World Trade center gave me a feeling of sadness for those lost & also a feeling of hope that things always get better with time.
Man I used to live in NYC until recently, it was so fun seeing you visit all the places I used to see on a daily basis! Loved the video!
we went to Top of the Rock early morning just as it opened, on the ground it was drizzle. As it was the only time we had free so up we went. Got outside and it was snowing got some of the best photos of central park and the sky line ever. Great video 2x👍
I live in NY, on L.I. this video was presented beautifully of the Most beautiful City in the World loved it...ive been in many of those spots you visited.. thank you very much for creating this video❤🍎🌃🏙🗽❤
Tim, you've outdone yourself with this one. New York is on my bucket list, Times Square at night was stunning, this has now confirmed that I must get there soon, great video. ❤
Ive been to London but never been to NY, though I feel like I've had a chance to experience it, thanks to you Tim 👍wow, what an amazing place!
Wow, very impressive video, very detailed with many famous locations, I wish I would have seen this earlier this year. We visited NY for the first time in April 2023, and while we saw a few sights we missed a lot. We stayed only two blocks from the Empire State Building yet we didn’t know so many famous sites were just a few blocks away. We did however take a tour bus across lower manhattan and at the end we took a ferry , amazing sights! Now we have come back again to see more this time.
I’ve been living here since birth-over 58 years, and I wish that I could move out of this state for good!
Brilliant Video Tim, New York is fascinating and those electric bikes were good value at $20. Wouldn't think of getting around on a bike, but you proved it can be done. Empire State at night was breath-taking 😀 Hopefully one day, I'll visit and see the sights ❤
Loving these longer videos Tim!
😉
NYC used to be my favourite city, alongside London but now London is well ahead. The homeless and rough sleeping is beyond bad, there is a stink of weed just about everywhere and whilst always expensive, it is crazy now. It just has a negative edge to it that wasn't there pre Covid. Won't be rushing back anytime soon, which really saddens me.
Seriously had to look away while you walked on glass floor 😂 "no no no"
Super great video of NYC Tim. Have visited many times over the past few years and was in the city two weeks after 911. Quite a surreal experience to stand in Lower Manhattan so soon after the tragic events I can tell you. Didn’t like that trippy experience on the glass tower, not for me. However I agree with you Central Park, it’s massive. I went up The Empire State Building but cannot remember those attractions inside they must be new. Grand Central Station is indeed amazing. I never got to Statin Island as I had time constraints and was travelling next day on Amtrak to Chicago. Great fabulous city though. Great video too.
Thanks David I bet that was a surreal time to be in NYC
@@WalkWithMeTim it was indeed Tim and I walked afterwards across the Brooklyn Bridge where the choking acrid smell of burning rubble and dust was incredible even after two weeks, I’ve never forgot it.
New York is not the same without out Casper there 😁
Thanks so much, Tim! That was amazing! I loved every single second of the vlog. x
Been to NYC 3 times and have never seen it looking so quiet - the weather looks amazing! Made me want to go back. Top of the Rock is well worth doing. I got fast track tickets for Empire State Building and was glad because the queues were from the foyer! Grits look and sound grim!
Western Europe? Did America recently relocate?
I absolutely loved this vlog Tim. Ever since I was a child watching home alone two i’ve wanted to go to NYC. Unfortunately I don’t have the funds to get there so will live it through your eyes. This was a fab vlog and you covered a lot. I don’t know how you fit it all in. Did you sleep? Are they your hollister shorts that went missing that made an appearance at Coney Island? 😂. Thanks though Tim it was a real treat for me. Can’t wait to see the plaza although I think reading between the lines it may be a bit of a disappointment.
I bet those were Tim's missing shorts! Lol
Looks like we were there a few days apart, the tree was about a few days away (Thu 9th to Mon 13th). Pretty rainy for me, but around 6-12°.
Oh, and I think the original piano from the film is now in Macy’s when FAO Schwartz went bust. The new store is owned by Toys R Us and not in the original place.
I used to visit New York City four times a year, but I last visited almost ten years ago and have no intention of ever seeing it again.
The thing to know about grits is that you need to add lots of salt and butter. Cheese is also a good add-in. It has no flavor on its own. Most places don’t add those things to it bc everyone prefers it differently. Don’t listen to anyone who suggests putting sugar in it.
noted and don't eat with a fork
Tim, they weren’t your hollister shorts you lost at sea a while back were they??
Made me and the wife laugh out loud when you said there was some shorts floating in the sea at Coney Island - we both said at the same time “they’re probably the ones you lost in Europe” 😂
lol I did think that
Oh my god each shot could be like a wallpaper! Great photography Tim! ❤
I know , the empire state at night it was like watching movie 😊
Tim thankyou for this very informative video. I have visited NY a few times about 23 years ago all in Manhatton (love that area)so your video reminded me of great times! 🥲 I always wondered what its like now. The bike scheme looks better than ours. The views were great especially at night and I loved the Empire State building me being a movie buff. Who would have thought that NY would have nice beaches like that? You have giving me alot of food for thought for when I visit there one day👍🏾👍🏾❤️ NY
Great vlog Tim. Absolutely love NYC, need to get back! P.S. Great job on the ice rink and bike, braver than me!
You should! in fact Jan and feb is good price to go apparently
@@WalkWithMeTim probably be year after next, got to save up!
New York doesn’t look all that great to me always just seemed so similar to London never really appealed to me when you take into account the other places you could visit for the money. This video really confirmed that for me, Thanks Tim love your videos btw!
I visited NY 25 years ago. I agree with you. Nothing memorised me.
I totally agree! I thought the same .. but its much much different
I always wanted to go, but a friend who went recently, and Tim's vid has convinced me otherwise.
Prices were her main complaint, and yeah, $12 for a small hot chocolate, nah it's OK, New York can stay on the TV screen! 😂
Reminds me of my city of Manchester obviously a large scale
Most of us Americans would tell you the same thing; it's just a bigger, dirtier, higher-crime city in the States and it doesn't really have anything that unique. Everything NY has is found everywhere else, and most other places in the US have it better (and WAY cheaper). Only New Yorkers think that NY is the center of the world.
Great video Tim! Safe travels!
Fascinating video, Tim. You packed such a lot into your time there. Well done 👏
