  • Lyrics below. With Vocals by; Sinead O'Connor
In the name of, and by the power of
    The holy spirit
May we invoke your intercession for
    The children of England
    Some of whom have seen
    Murder so obscene
Some of whom have been taken
Let not another child be slain
Let not another search be made in vain
    Jah forgive us for forgetting
Jah help us, we need more loving
You see the teachers are representing you
So badly that not many can see you
Let not another child be slain
Let not another search be made in vain
    Jah calls the ones whose
    Beliefs killed children to
Feel the love of you and be healed
And may we all cry too
For representing you so badly, so badly
    Jah forgive us for forgetting
Oh Jah help us to be forgiving
    The teachers are representing you
So badly that not many can see you
Let not another search be made in vain
Let not another child be slain

Massive Attack are one of the UK's best bands of all time, I'm shocked that this epic song with O'Connor has only 97 likes. Pop back tomorrow and there will be so many more....... promise.

People don't vote real good music very often. It frustrated me so much that I - I make music since I was little - I gave up a long time - it is hard without connection in Europe.. especially in Germany when you sing English because it is my language - bilingual so- but I spent much time in UK Bristol too- American school in West Berlin...yes...that I started singing and producing again..sometimes you have to loose all to learn to appreciate what you have...- For me it is not too late. Not yet. I realized that I am not too old.
And I survived hell and I am still here. I lived a million lifes but some music just remains. Such as Massive Attack. Funny thar one of the members of Massive Attack runs a bar in Berlin, where I live..in my district and in Berlin - people get privacy. Nobody is running into him asking stupid questions.
On the other hand, when you wanna start something - people don't care either...that has two sides.

no "normal" deaths here... the song is about "other" subjects... for example: The Mary Moss Elm Guest House VIP Paedophile Party List... Del Naja seems to have been punished for this song... 2 weeks after the issue of the album he has been charged with... the same crime of the song... weird, isn't' it? for those who don't remember, they can google del naja and alexis petridis ("The Guardian" interviewer)... not to say that Sinnead is an ex-abused child herself... I suggest also to think about the last verses of "Everywhen": "Everything you think you know, Everything you think you know, You think you know, Blood ties"... blood ties... i.e. human sacrifices? Didn't A.Crowley himself explicitly wrote that (I mean... the death of a child)? After this song, I think that a far more hermetic and more general allusion has been made with "Psyche", but I could be wrong... BTW, the music of these three songs is wonderful

I agree with you 100% and im glad that some one on this thread knew!! Dont forget the 1000s of children buried near catholic childrens homes, not just in ireland but in canada also, both oconnor and o'riordan were angry women... Once you know what they are really singing about its hardly surprising.. I think oconnor is still interred isnt she? They need to keep her locked up because she is a loose cannon as far as they are concerned.. Brilliant artists both of those ladies

GbrElfunk - Whats your point? The needless loss of life regardless of nationality is a tragedy. Make an artistic expression for those children if you feel that way moved.
Its seems like you're dismissing the message because worse is happening elsewhere. Instead, try enhancing and bridging the message into other countries through mediums of art.

this is not a competition for most murdered children.. You didn’t got the point of this masterpiece
With your argumentation every single artist should put all the worlds misery in all of their works
sry für bad english, i‘m not a native speaker
