Iâve always found it fascinating when you mention themes of focus in books (your paper on fruit in N&S for instance). I wondered if an idea could be selecting books/rereads but with a new focus? Iâve been doing notions of self-identity recently and Iâm having a great time. I feel like Iâm reading these books in a totally different way to if I focused on nature etc.
Iâd love to see monthly/seasonal favorite items, or favorite bookish items (eh bookmarks, merch, bookshelf decor, etc.)! Realistically Iâd watch anything you put out- including you just sitting and making silent eye contact with the camera

I, too, had a small wedding ceremony (20 people, all family). And we dealt with SO many hurt feelings from the people we didnât invite. And I really resonated with you saying ânobody starts their wedding guest list with the intention of hurting peoplesâ feelings.â

I also just got my master's and everyone's asking me "when is the PHD coming?" and the answer is NEVER, lol. Academia is way too competitive, and I also did my master's for passion, looking to get a government job totally unrelated to the field of Canadian history. I used to get anxious when people would ask me why I wasn't going further in my studies, but the truth is that I feel truly accomplished with what I've written, and becoming a Uni professor is not my dream career at all. There's no shame AT ALL with taking a break and not immediately jumping in a PHD, take your time with it

It's been a year since I finished my Masters and I have not made any huge changes in my career. I was so exhausted when I finished, I needed to just have a job for a while. I may have some changes coming soon but that's because I'm ready and I want them. We all have our own paths in life.

Hey Noelle! I love that you mentioned Everything I Never Told You as a book to be read in schools. Iâm an AP Literature teacher and my students are currently reading this book. I was apprehensive because of its newness and especially the lack of discourse surrounding its brilliance in academic spaces but I went for it, and am finding that not only do the kids like it and get excited to read it but there is a depth to it that I donât think is discussed enough (even I didnât realize it until I started studying it with my students). Basically, thanks for the reinforcement that my instincts were right!

Ruminations from someone who got married 15 years ago. We had a decent sized wedding. We wanted a small backyard event with a cookout after. Our families pushed us to do a big church wedding. We were young (20 & 22) and caved to what others wanted. I regret having 100ish people there (invited around 300), and I regret having it in a church. We aren't religious. My advice to anyone getting married is to stay true to what you want!

Your excitement for reading was so contagious that you actually got me to pick up a book for the first time after years of not reading. Now, I'm constantly reading and that also helps my mental health so much! Just wanted to say thank you for your content.
So nice to see your face! 27 was my kryptonite year too. Threw me into a whole new place mentally. Iâm 38 now. Never went back to being the same person I was but thatâs the point of life. Thereâs nothing wrong with working a job thatâs not related to your degree. Most people do! Iâm almost finished with grad school and I also have NO plans of getting a PhD once Iâm done. Just take everything day by day đ„°

Same, haha. I want to get a PhD completely unrelated to my work and people cannot understand it. Some people have been straight up rude about it. But I see it like any other "pointless" goal... self-fulfillment, which is sort of the least pointless thing!

And I would argue regardless of your degree you âuseâ what you learned regularly-communications/presentation skills, research,problem solving, etc. congratulations on all youâve accomplished!
Totally agree with what you said about not believing you are as good as you are, if you have the grades and documentation then you need to believe it. This happens to me and i think it is just my own expectation and goals are really big and I dont give myself credit for how good I am because I am comparing with my ideals and not actual real life. But humility is cool all the same

The dress! đ I just turned 28 and let me tell you, 27 was a weird one. I am in therapy now and I felt the same way about social media. I deleted the apps and stepped away from all of it and it was great. I got to know who the real people in my life are. Lastly, I love that you went to school for your passion. I wish learning could be seen as that more often and not just a means to advance a career. One more thing, Iâd love a video on how you approached your essays. Idk how well it will do, but Iâll enjoy it and Iâm sure some future grad student will be happy to get some help if theyâre feeling stuckâŠmaybe. Idk. đ

You NEED to read the Strange Case of the Alchemists daughter. It is written from the perspective of daughters of gothic novels, i.e. Hyde, Dracula, Moreau, and more. It is FULL of adventure and also breaks the fourth wall of writing, I think you would really enjoy and should give it a read.

I totally agree that everything I never told you should be a book read in school! Or used in therapy. My mom actually went to college for child psychology and had a lot of required reading to do that involved things like loss and it feels perfect. It might be a little too complex if too young but I feel like learning how to understand your parents as actual people with feelings and problems they donât show you, but also how your actions as a child/sibling effect the people around you when you think they arenât looking, and how to/how to not cope with loss, and also being children of a mixed-race immigrant family would be really important and helpful and lead to great discussion.
My dad always says that education is a light load to carry there have been times when I have used mine and others when I havenât life is ever changing and evolving. I loved the idea of becoming Emily Henry love her novels so much the way she writes about the process of writing. Dream job I think.

Also I just want to say I 1000% agree with noelle about the weird rep wedding planning gets. I donât get it! It was overall so fun! Marry someone who is also going to plan with you (if you want to plan a wedding, and as a team) and it will be a blast đ Im particularly fond of the night we spent choosing all of our songs. We were picky and deliberate and went through so many together. Enjoy the planning process, it can be romantic in itself :)

Thereâs no such thing as wasting a degree. Education is education, no matter whether you use it or not. I have a career in something completely unrelated to my degree, and if I end up going back to school at some point, itâs still going to be just for myself.

I read Everything I Never Told You as a project in high school! Thinking back now, there were certainly parts I missed as a 16 year old, but I think that's normal for reading classics in high school.
