- We are in Dubai and trying to fit a 2JZ to our JZX90, but we have already run into major problems with the wiring on the JZ swap. So, we decided to change the plan and do something more unusual, LS swap the JZX! I know, that seems like a weird choice, but watching the video, it makes sense...

The w58 came in the mk4,mk3,mk2 supra and older celicas,soarers etc

For the bonnet, copy that chaser at sema. The guy cut a massive square and used the original bonnet as a frame pretty much.
If he used a stock intake manifold the bonnet would have cleared 😓

1UZs are good for 750hp on stock internals Dave. Even at 400hp it'll still be more reliable than an LS, plus with the 1UZ you could have used the W58 box and kept the small case diff up to about 400whp. If you were to grab a GS450h/IS350/IS-F diff you could handle way more. Keen to see how you guys will sort out that rear end with the LS/Tremec combo.
We are only winding on the 1UZ, we’ve had them before and they are great, but the LS does have a better noise and we aren’t turbocharging on the timescale, plus it’s a bit more of a unique unpredictable swap 😝

W58 is non-turbo Supra box, C160 is the IS200 6 Speed
The w58 came in supra's , and US Spec is300s ect . Is200's are j160 gearboxs. 58 would have been better on lukes v8 you had . Bmw gear box on the 2j job done . Might be a idea to show some love to us is200 boys we ain't all just "ring Lads"

We featured Sultans is200 in a previous video when he built it, we don’t hate on is200s. There is no available BMW boxes in Dubai really as most came auto unlike Ireland in the 2000s

I just remember dave saying that he was not a fan of them. When ever you guys go places some times you see them in the back ground but nothing ever gets said. Hope to one day to come to one of your days you run and bring my is200 Widebody ,2jzge+T swapped, street legal car. Just a long way to come from essex . hope you get the v8 done in time gents.
I was already fully invested but the hacksaw to the McLaren chassis has me desperate for more 😂! I know that shits gonna be so fire when its done. Oh and the jzx90 will be cool too lol!

A w58 gear box is from a mk4 supra na and a mk3 supra turbo
The is 200 uses a j160 gear box

Supra/soarer diff is different. The NA GX90 diff is 7.5" so a supra/ soarer 8" ring & pinion would fit if you have a proper 8" JZX turbo diff. The supra soare axles are 15mm longer per side, but you can use them but stub axles wont fit from the 7.5" diff to the turbo axles. However there was an LS LX90 cresta in australia that used the 4 bolt axles & 7.5" diff. Im using NA 6 bolt axles with an 8" diff using hard to find IS300 stubs that work with 8" diff & smaller 6 bolt NA axles behind my 1JZ & theyre strong enough. TLDR: just run the GX90 diff cos youre not gonna find a JZX turbo diff & axles easily I dont reckon & Supra soarer wont work.

Dave, W58 Gearbox is the 5 speed from early manual A80 supra. The IS200 gearbox is the J160, the gearbox mated to your 3SGE+T in your S15.
Ahhh makes sense. Is the is200 and Altezza gearbox the same?
Yeah, some were J160, early IS200's were W55, which was the 5 speed.
@driftgames_life but more importantly, the w58 will handle your 1.5jzs power to an extent. They're not bullet proof, but will hold 500
Really good build plan! But if I'm not wrong, you have to get a permit and pass the tests after you engine swap a car in the UAE. Also make sure it's street legal so they pass it.
Car passed this week before we did it so we get a year before we will eventually ship it home

Is200 dosent have a w58 that is an N/a supra gearbox. The is200/altezza gearbox is called a J160 good to 400hp if your nice with it, but the w58 is like glass ive herd but would definitely hold 350hp
It’s not a great box and it also didn’t feel in great shape to begin with
W58s are still decent enough tho if in good nick here in nz they get used in alot of different projects. I know people running nearly 500whp jzs with w58s behind them
