I saw them I think 1987 in Munich. It was Christmas Eve. We drove a couple of hundred miles. Saw them in Austin, November 1986, in an ancient theatre with rows of seats that waved with a crazy ripple effect if you dared to lean on them. Like the unhinged stage antics of David Yow himself, they seemed unbolted from anything concrete or real. Needless to say no one was sitting. An ancient black and white film was projected, chaotically flooding the entire stage. It was beautiful and haunting, the visual equivalent of the music itself. Truly a rare feast for the senses.

I think that many of those hipstrolls that waste their time bashing KC were Nirvana loonies in denial now trying to seem cool, but without him they probably wouldn't even know these lovely punk records and would be listening some shitty boy band from their era. And if you're a old person trolling out coz sincerely don't like his music, grow up and get over the fact that the guy had great taste. Thanks to him many people around the globe are aware of this stuff and that's great. Music is there to be enjoyed and recognized, not elitized.

I looked for this release and their second on vinyl for about a year. Finally found them (about a year before The Greatest Gift compilation CD was released, bummer). I still think they are absolutely the BEST punk records I own. I do love Birthday Party, but there are fewer misses by Scratch Acid, IMO.
