This video gives a brief description of my wood wheelbarrow planter and the plans package I've produced. The wheelbarrow hints at being an antique with a wood spoked wheel and ogee trimmed side boards. The wheelbarrow is very functional and sturdy; it has a plated metal strap on parts that contact the ground: a metal "tire" and metal strap under the legs. It should last decades. Construction is quite simple: the front and rear legs form the inside corners of the box. The wheel hub is a one inch dowel wrapped with four 2 X 2"s chamfered and tapered. The rim is eight segments cut from a 2 X 4 mitered together with reinforcing keys at each miter. Spokes are pieces of 5/8" hardwood dowel. The project can be built with only hand tools. The only power tools I used were a saber saw and an electric drill.

Just finished my garden wheelbarrow on Christmas Eve. After first seeing this video, I looked to order your plans, but I don't do PayPal, so I decided to go ahead without plans. Used hand tools along with my band saw, drill press and cordless drill/drivers. What a fun project, and it turned out great! Thanks, and if I can send a check for your plans, please let me know where I can send it. :)

Hi Carl, a good brush to use is a kitchen silicon basting brush 😜 I came up,with the idea while I was putting on the Sunday roast half way through the day when I had been working in the shop doing a lot of gluing up you could say it was one of those moments 💡 once the glue has dried you just peel it off the silicon brush and your ready to go for the next job no more forgotten brushes with dried glue on them.🤗 love the wheel barrow I have an old and I mean very old wheel barrow that needs fixing so I can use it as a planter 😸
Angela, Thank you for the kudos and thanks for the suggestion. I know that silicon spray lubricants will prevent most glues and epoxies from adhering; didn't know that you can buy a silicon basting brush. ///Carl
