Thought I was going to get lucky to taste home cooked Mote Hin Gar when a neighbour with young Burmese wife moved in. She says she knows how tp cook it using supermarke ready made paste instead.

Very useful and easy to follow. Does the taste vary from region to region? Many years ago, tasted a very superb rich version cooked by a Burmese migrant modern family and way better than in a shop in Rangoon. Not TinTin Aye.

Yes, depends on the region, the cooking method is slightly different. Rangon Mote Hin Gar soup is thicker than others. You may add water or less yellow splits peas if you don’t want thick soup. Check written recipe on my website. Currently it is better to view with laptop as I just launched it and still working on it.

Mohinga is the national dish of Myanmar and it's made in nearly every corner of the country. But it's a pity that it's not famous like Thai or Vietnamese food and most of the people from other countries might not even heard of it unless been to Myanmar or have Burmese friend.
