I am so frustrated! Its nice to get ideas from you on NON-WICCAN books! Nothing against Wicca, I used to be one. But now my practice has changed. I am forever trying to find books on my path of Celtic Folk magick. Everything is so wiccan.

Hi Sabrina. I use a technique to locate books by using the bibliography of books I have to search for more books on a topic. I have a book by D.J. Conway called Celtic Magic. It’s part of the Llewellyns World Magic Series. The bibliography shares more books on the topic. Even if you can’t locate this book it could get some hints for others. If I had any social media I’d offer to send you a picture but CZcams is it for me. Good luck on your search.

For anyone interested, Tuatha de Danann is pronounced like "TOOuh day Danun" in standard Irish. Also, book reviews from completed > in progress is a fine format, I will likely be adding the books to my list either way, lol.

When you mentioned the part in The Witch’s Familiar about color correspondences, I immediately thought of the Hogwarts houses. RED (Fire) is Gryffindor, BLUE (Air) is Ravenclaw, YELLOW (Earth) is Hufflepuff, and GREEN (Water) is Slytherin.

I love these book breakdowns/reviews! You have such a wide and incredible amount of knowledge about witchcraft already, so for me your recommendations are always so helpful, because you know what you're talking about and you know which ones actually contain good and useful information, as well as which ones are suitable for beginners and which ones aren't. That makes these kinds of videos so so so helpful and valuable. 🖤
As for the order in which you go through the books: I don't think you need to split them in categories like "finished" and "part way through" or something like that. I quite like the way you have them mixed up.
Some people might like it when they are sorted by theme (e.g. first all the books on fae, then all the books on herbs, then history etc.), but I think it's refreshing to have them in no particular order, it keeps it even more interesting and exciting, in my opinion, to bounce around different topics.
My to-be-read and to-buy lists are ever growing due to your amazing recommendations, I don't even know when and how on earth I'm gonna finish all these books, I need more than 24 hours in a day! 😭😂
Thank you for giving us these tips and your honest opinions on the books, it really helps! 🙏🤗

    Recent Glastonbury book haul included:
The Book of Lilith - Barbara Black Koltuv
A Deed without a Name - Lee Morgan
The Temple of Hecate - Tara Sanchez
Walking with Trees - Glennie Kindred
Folk Magic and Healing - Fez Inkwright
    The Hedgerow Apothecary Forager's Handbook
Under the Witching Tree - Corinne Boyer
Now I just have to read them!
PS (from the bloopers bit) I think chronological is best because what you have read before a book can affect the way you feel about the current one. Just my thoughts, but do whatever pleases you. I'll still watch :)

I actually have a notebook, just for book reviews, be that from you or one of the other witchy CZcamsrs that I follow, I have learned so much from watching your's and other's book reviews, Cause when I first started my practice many moons ago it was something that was to be kept to ourself and a lot of bookstores would look at you funny for trying to order certain books. I am so happy to see you and others sharing with others and letting people feel that they can be open about their practice and not have to hide their practice or who they are.

Thank you for thus 🫂❤️ I'll definitely check this series out, unfortunately I lost access to alot of what my nan taught me and what I read in my brain so to speak as its there but I can't remember as I suffered a stroke at age 29 (I'm now 44) I'm going to have to relearn everything but I can't relearn from my nan as she oassed away 5 weeks before my stroke 😢 I miss her dreadfully and my family don't believe in what she did and she learnt in the word of mouth way. It's very hard to read a book now, I find I'm very slow and get confused quite a lot, but I know I must do this as I feel im being called back to the craft as I was searching CZcams for sewing machine reviews and this channel was the first item in the results. The video was about finding your deities, what does that have to do with sewing machines ? 🤔 I hope my nan had something to do with this, so here I go again. Thank 😊 you once again for the recommendation I'm so sorry for this being a bit long of a response. 😊🫂❤️

Thanks for mentioning six ways. It's a book I started several years ago but for some reason I only got a third the way through. I think after several years it makes a much better read and nicely summarises a lot of things. I've almost got back to chapter ten (where I got to last time) so lm looking forward to reading the rest of it 😊

    • @kayla8402
      @kayla8402 Před 9 měsíci

The first handful of chapters are actually quite good for the basics. There's THREE progressive chapters on meditation and energy work, the six ways which is basically a centering ritual not unlike lbrp or calling quarters, reclaiming which is about, well, reclaiming your sense of self and power without being something I'd worry about like... inviting things in or whatever. Basic variations on offerings. Things like that. If he'd just put a clear "here follow these initial chapters as groundwork" explanation, I think it would have helped.
And then on the flip side, it's all modular enough to add depth or otherwise slot in alongside existing practice structures.
It's also SUPER useful (in one specific sense) for explaining how "visualization" doesn't have to be literally visual. SO MANY books I've basically tossed out, for wanting you to basically hallucinate on command... lol

Also, since I am still rather new to all things witchy, I am definitely going to pick up all the elemental books - starting with Air, since I was told recently that, because of toxic family dynamics with my ex, I have been surprising Air for many years so I am working on reconnecting with that element.

You don't need to choose any specific kind, try different techniques, see what works best for you. I choked on my 7up when you said isabel gowdie as that's my last name of my father's line, there's been a hushed talk of an isabel gowdie and witchcraft down the generations and my grandfather said I don't want to be buried with those 3 witches (family plot) which as a kid really intrigued me, my father's side all came from Scotland. My nan taught me many things that as I got older and asked her one day do you do witchcraft like the other witches in the family and her response was I don't do isabel or the other 3 witches form of craft. She never expanded on that, but she definitely was a wise woman and I'd say did hedge witchcraft but with her spin on it. I definitely have to find that book and buy it plus ive got to find out if this lady or her family are connected to mine as gowdie is a really rare last name. I stumbled onto this video by accident I'm now subscribed as its lovely to have a fellow English uk channel and person to follow and learn from. 🫂❤️😊
