If there's one thing I don't want to come to an end it's the sometimes hilarious use of AIS destination info. Instead of reporting their destination, captains are typing in messages like "All Chin Crew", "Arm man onboard", and my favorite today "3 Guard all Turkey".
Feathered guards are the best guards. :) gobble gobble (of course I know they mean the nation)
@@haunter_1845Thanks. I hope someone sets their AIS to something like "AimHereIfYouLikeMen" It worked well for Sweden when they had that submarine problem.
Did betterhelp stop selling private info?
How effective do you really expect airstrikes to be considering the Houthis have resisted them for the better part of a decade?
That's exactly what I was going to say, America provided everything to the Saudis and UAE to take out the Houthis and they resisted for close to a decade. I don't think we are going to see them going away anytime soon.
Sure. You have a point Airstrikes are ineffective unless you use them as one part of a combined arms offensive.
It's all for show. The US is just striking to keep the superbowl Kardashian watching crowd happy at home. It's PR.

Great job on the update, thank you 😊
The cache of weapon parts on that boat is from an old seizure (we lost two SEALs to that).
I get stoked every time i see a new sub brief video. nice job as always
Thanks for keeping us updated on this fascinating story.
Betterhelp sold costumer data, without permission, to third parties. Makes me glad I wasn't one of their patients. Imagine seeking treatment for PTSD or other trauma and being betrayed and exsploited like this. @subbrief. I know you got to pay the bills, but maybe take someone else's money next time.
Sounds like a HIPAA violation. There are very strong federal protections against that kind of thing. Not sure what loophole they could be operating through.
You might be electroplating a cloud, but we can hope, can't we?
4:00 I’m not sure explosives are shipped as separate chemicals. Certainly you separate the detonators, but you don’t ship, say, the RDX and the plasticisers separately, and ask the end user to make their own C-4.
Betterhelp transition was a 10/10
The core problem is failing to recognize that the Houthis are using an anvil strategy and we're falling into the trap of being the hammer.
The Houthis need better help for sure. Lol
@aaronwilkinson8963
When you get cheated on by your goat you get upset.
VETOing a ceasefire aint gonna get you flowers...
There is no prospect for the internationally recognized government to take back Sanaa anytime soon. First of all there is a ceasefire in the conflict in Yemen, that is fragile but more or less stable since 2022. Secondly, Houthis are in negotiations with the Saudis and the Saudis are also starting to talk with Iran (partially brokered talks by China).
There is barely any executive and organizational basis on which the remainders of the Hadi Governement or the presidential council that followed Hadi could relay on to built up a force. They would need support from someone both militarily and financially, but I don't see any country nearby really willing and committed to provide that. (There are many good summaries on the genral situation there on CFR, MEI or other think tanks if you are interested).
A too obvious positioning of the Saudis on the US side now is not in Saudi interests regarding the legidimization of the Houthis with respect to the Gaza situation, which has broad support in muslim countries in the region.
The bombing of Houthi positions by the US is probably only a temporary solution to suppress the Houthis capabilities in disrupting international shipping, until a permanent solution in Gaza is achieved. The Houthis have endured nearly 10 years of coalition bombing, a bit more even with good intelligence won't change that a lot.
How many billions did armament companies profit of that decade? That's the playbook for all these adventures
Could turn into a giant anfo bomb. Fertiliser +oil+ ignition source = big kaboom
I still have some hope that a hit on a U.S. flagged ship carries substantial consequences. I mean we have to have a line in the sand (sea) that we won’t let others cross
Why hasn't the USN been unable to prevent Iran from delivering weapons to the Houthis?
I suspect Iran might be lying on the customs declaration forms attached to their weapon shipments. If they write "WHEAT" or "NON-EXPLODEY SAFE MACHINERY" instead of "ASBM WARHEADS" then it's not obvious where the weapons are without checking physically. Naughty, I know, but you know what Iran's like...
It might be for some reason that it is percived that if we atrack a direct Iranian asset the war would expand . It was very hard to go into certain parts of north Korea and china during the korsan war and the same of vietnam during the respective wars .
The USN can't stop the drug runs into Florida what hope for them in the red sea?
Thank you for these updates.

That warhead is from an Iranian Nour or Ghadir missile. It's very similar to the warhead from an Exocet. It's a semi armour piercing blast/fragmentation warhead.
Told ya the Houthis would not be impressed by your tomahawks.

I'm flabbergasted at this point. All those launch sites could be shut down in a day. The USAF + usn could get air dominance without hours and prevent any launched missiles and drones from ever leaving the houthi airspace.
And yet that hasn't been done, putting innocent civilian sailor at risk and impeding world trade
Wtf
American Armed Forces are employed forces of Terrorist country called America.

Wherever any country has a valuable resource, the American Terrorist Country is sure to find her way there including trying to push her way into Russia via Ukraine.

What is your assessment of the Austal ' Manta' drone mother ship catamaran ?
I am in the process of suggesting something similar to the Australian government .
Ghad-55 is a warhead for an anti-ship missile, it's a copy of the Exocet warhead.

So are the US and GB letting a few of these ships through and track where the shipments go? Later targeted for demolition?
Where the heck is Egypt in all this? They should be leading this whole thing since the decreased traffic through the suez is hurting their pockets more than anyone it would seem..
Please tell me that's not the nitrate fertilizer I'm thinking of.
It’s ammonium nitrate. However, it’s not soaked in oil, it’s not wrapped in detcord, and it’s fresh, professionally handled, stock, so it’s not deteriorated. The latter makes it much more stable.
I just didn't want to be the one that said ammonium and end up on a list@@DanielsPolitics1
I can’t tell what type of war head that is without a scale reference in the photo. I know Iran has developed a missile called GHADR similar to a ISKANDER launched from mobile launchers. Though smaller and less advanced it can pack a nasty punch with the proper warhead and guidance.
ok also Tawain first sub the narwhale sea trials start in April and they hope end of year in service
I agree, it will be much easier interacting with Yemen when they go from 3 official governments to 1 like other countries. This war should provide that clarity.
Even if Ansarallah comes out on top to solidify control, that can still be good for us as the current fragmentation strategy of the past decade has failed - and we continue now to pour good money after bad in this military remediation strategy.
I think he's being a bit too optimistic there. The Saudis have gone in harder on the Houthis and haven't been able to bring them down, I doubt these targetted strikes are going to either.
Maybe a dumb question; but why can be the only reaction defensively? In history the u.s. and others didn t hesitate to do land- strikes due special- forces ect?
Can you remember the last time an American ground operation in a Muslim country resulted in a stable democratic government?
And why did 0 hellfires take out the missile launcher after the launch?
As long as the Houthis are there, the legitimate Yemenese government gets international help and support. It's not in either of their best interests to actually resolve the conflict. As long as we're dealing with the Houthis, the Saudis won't bother moving in and cleaning up, either. For the benefit of international freedom of navigation, it's our problem unless we decide international freedom of navigation isn't a tenet we hold anymore.
The Saudis have had YEARS to take out the Houthis and they accomplished very little. The Yemenis, (Houthi and others), are rather unique in the Arab world in that they don’t mind rolling up their sleeves and getting dirty. Saudis hire others to do their scut-work, which doesn’t make for a good Army ground force.
The warhead is chinese C801 or C802. chinese copy of the exocet warhead.
The Houthis don’t care about environmental issues or trade or economic impact.
ineffective
I would LOVE to see your prediction about the Yemeni government be true, but I'm not optimistic. The Saudis have basically given up with their intervention and several other members in the coalition (like the UAE) have already backed out years ago. I doubt that the Houthis' opposition has the will or the means to make another push.
As much as it sounds horrible, food deliveries and aid should stop until the attacks stop.
That would only make the attacks worse. They would double down and more people would die. Your just gonna make them angry
"As much as it sounds horrible, food deliveries and aid should stop until the attacks stop" - That would not hurt the Houthi leadership at all; it would actually enrage the local population and help the Houthis gain more support..
Therapy is not a bad thing, but we were never meant to be happy all the time.
@6:12 Ha I just asked this on Sal's channel. Algae blooms can do irreversible damage to local fish, and never are preempted in time.
You see it all the time in man made lakes with high end properties around them.
Ever worried about OPSEC when talking about US vessels in depth as you do? Just curious, or is this all public info? Not this vid in particular, but some of the things I see on twitch, I wonder.
Well if we look at the ship with its bow well in the air after the attack it clearly shows that it was empty. Going from Saudi Arabia to Belarus, likely to import fertilizer. Belarus is the 7th worldwide fertilizer exporter Saudi Arabia the 27th but they export a lot to India and can make a few bucks per tons as a middlemen between Belarus and India. The ecological disaster of an empty ship sinking in the Strait of Hormuz is just a great journalistic clickbait.
Lol, better help.
Best channel on CZcams - I really appreciate your work!
Hourhi don’t have anger issues they just want stop the Gaza genocide
Imagine risking your own coast to an eco-disaster in an already bad overall regional situation..
With ideological conflicts priorities can depend on things that would normally not be a factor.
Will people still support them if they cause an ecological disaster?
Probably not but that's a what if. I'm sure they are more concerned with the 30k dead civilians in Gaza.
I am obviously asking questions that no one ever seems interested in entertaining due to "being mean"....
These acts are occurring in the middle east. It is a negative affect for the region. The neighboring countries in this region seems disinterested or at most "mildly" annoyed at this behavior.
***WHY*** is it they are all getting a pass for not cleaning up the mess in their own back yard? ***WHY*** is it ***ALWAYS*** someone-elses problem and someone-elses assets and at someone-elses cost to clean this up? The Egyptians keep saying: "Don't escalate". The Saudis keep saying: "Don't escalate" etc etc etc.
Some say that is an "isolationist" sentiment. I view it as a viable and necessary series of questions that is studiously avoided by "the powers that be".
Just my opinion.
😊
You don’t know much about Yaman.
Yemen likely would be better off if the civil war ended, even with a terrible regime (to an extent of course) it would be better than active fighting surely. More importantly, the humanitarian aid would not be under threat.
The fertilizer is actually a lot worse than you're thinking. Seawater + fertilizer = Ammonium Hydroxide. That reaction is exothermic, and essentially will run-away at some point. So, it won't 'leach out' it will just go boom. Very, very, big boom (like, kilo-ton scale boom). Like what happened in the port of Beirut.
Well in the middle of the Red Sea that doesn’t sound too bad like the ports where that happened… maybe the Houthis will attempt to hijack it again and then it goes boom with them on it??
I'm gonna say this notion of American bombing toppling Ansar Allah is wishful thinking--because who's gonna march in and do it? If you look at a population map of Yemen, the "rebel" territory is where the major population centers are--the land area each faction controls does not tell the full story. Similarly, for much of the Russian civil war, the Bolsheviks "only" controlled the major population and industrial centers in the west, and western powers did exactly the same thing--they intervened, thought their advanced weapons would turn the tide, and ultimately failed to save a corrupt, dysfunctional, and utterly defeated regime that, for a time, only held most of the map because it was too empty to merit the enemy's attention.
The "legitimate" government of Yemen lives in a hotel like a divorced bachelor who just lost his house, and they currently govern a minority of the population and are entirely dependent on the United States and Saudi Arabia to even stay in this war. Aerial bombing did not stop Ansar Allah from advancing and taking territory, and neither will dropping the same bombs from American jets instead of Saudi ones. That's the funny thing--folks talk like bombing this place is a new idea!
They're just changing the roundel on the tails of the bombers. Same mission, same strategy, same result--failure. America is always the second stormtrooper through the door.
How many times do we have to learn this lesson? American military technology is not some kingmaker that can hand victory to whichever faltering, troop-starved faction in a civil war is most convenient to American interests.
If only installing Phalanx CIWS on those tankers, for defensive purposes only, was a viable option.
When President Trump gets back in it will be soulamani all over again
I know that average Yemenis are exhausted by the long war. They just want peace and a halfway decent government.
Unfortunately, we have a very weak and inept President right now who will not respond appropriately to any threats against American citizens or our nation. If Trump was President, he would allow the U.S. military to do its job and wipe out the Houthis just as he did when he wiped out ISIS. Thanks Sub Brief for another great video! God bless you!
What do you think of the Germans sending the Hessen down?
The Houthis are doing this because of what Israel is doing to Gaza. They’ve openly stated this and also stated that they would stop if Israel stops attacking Gaza. The stopped for the duration of the previous ceasefire. You don’t have to agree with it, but this is why they’re doing it.
Ok? Lol just because they have a "reason" that means we should just let them shut down international shipping?
@t2zc5or9dThat's not what they said. They literally just explained the reason this is happening according to the Houthis themselves, there's no suggestion at all that we should allow it to keep happening.
The comment does of course raise the point that there might be alternative ways of preventing these attacks (ie applying political pressure to Israel to cease the bombardment of Gaza)
But you do make an interesting point which I agree with: Just because someone says they have a reason for carrying out military action, we shouldn't just stand by and let them do it if there are serious consequences.
(For the avoidance of doubt I think the Houthis can get f***ed and should be removed from power for the sake of the people of Yemen and the stability of whole region. But honestly if their actions in the Red Sea have had an impact on how quickly the international community pressures Israel into a ceasefire then they have had an overall positive impact. Not that the ends necessarily justify the means.)
@@user-ft2zc5or9dmaybe yeah. It's not like you can stop them anyway, why not talk
@@user-ft2zc5or9d My question is, who appointed the United States the guardians of international shipping especially when they are doing a poor job of being the guardians of human rights and international law by turning a blind eye to an obvious genocide in Gaza.
Why is it always the USA and UK at the tip of the spear. Where are the Germans and French. I live in Cyprus and we see military at Paphos airport. There is room for more aircraft as we hear Akrotiri is full. Including, with German personal.

@paintedblue1791
So far as I’m aware the idea of zig zagging the ships has two problems. One is that it’s just not very effective against guided weapons systems. The other is that these vessels just aren’t really made for those types of maneuvering. They’re most fuel efficient when at a set speed and at a set course, and any change to course is made via large sweeping movements instead of drastic changes.
