Holy moly - here we go! This was me (Texan, 54 y.o., wife/mom of 3) seeing/hearing BTS by accident on YT four years ago. My song was 'MIC Drop' and I was instantly hooked despite never listening to pop or hip-hop/rap (I am a lifelong alternative rock fan)....I also did a deep dive and never looked back, I'm in BTS/ARMY for life.... It's because I don't know anyone else doing what they do - all the music genres, rap, vocals, amazing choreo, often seriously deep lyrics, being good people with hilarious personalities who share a deeply loving brotherhood amongst themselves....No one else in music has all this to offer. No one.

I was skeptical I’ll admit because I never heard a proper kpop song let alone one from the biggest group out there. And it was the first time he was watching them too. But eventually I watched the reaction and boy was I surprised hearing them sing and rap and dance LIKE THAT in mic drop lmao😂. There's that one picture of BTS where they were sitting in a living room and all of them were sitting one couch glued to each other, like they can't go a day without feeling each other's presence one it's so cute. They've lived together for like a decade and now have their own homes, they've went through a lot together as well (from the underdogs to the biggest), so it makes sense. Also there was a time where one of the members had to be absent due to surgery for his crushed shoulder (accident from 10 years ago, that he didn't fix and hurted him for years and years), and they were going around everywhere in interviews, award shows, lives with a picture of him cuz they wanted him to feel included, they'd call him with their personal phones to deliver speeches from home when they win awards, can't go a day without mentioning him.

I've listened to K-pop since 2013. Blackpink and TWICE were the first girl group I listened to all those years ago. Good choice on watching "ShutDown". That song's scenery or sets is a combination of all their previous videos, so if you like that one. You'll surely be entertained by the previous music videos. They actually saved my life with their messages and content when I was going through a really hard time. They are really inspirational and they just have brought so much comfort and happiness to my life. 💜BTS is actually my favorite artist. Idk I just feel they are so unique and special. When I listen to their songs, read their lyrics and watch their performances I can really feel their passion emotions and sincerity and not a lot o artists that can do that. It’s pretty common to use a mix of English and Korean in their songs so subtitles will help you understand. And a lot of their stuff is pretty deep. Most K pop videos have English Subtitles if you turn on the closed captions, and and many groups including BTS are famous for their meaningful lyrics that once you read them, even if you are listening to that song in the car later, you still remember what the song is about and think about the meaning even if you don’t understand all of the individual words. You picked a good song to get to know BTS with. A lot of people start with their English songs which are more fluffy and we’re not written by the band members themselves, like most of their Korean songs are.

BTS is known for making music with messages which are relatable to any common man anywhere in the world like mental health, pressure on youth, social injustice etc. Some r based on literature. Their message abt loving yourself, to accept all the sides of u have helped millions worldwide.
BTS are so much more than what people expect. :) Beyond the singing and dancing, they are true artists who write and produce songs that have changed lives, and they have always taken creative control of their works. Seriously, they have covered heavy topics that other SK artists wouldn’t go near as they were taboo (mental health, injustice, etc), and thanks to them, more SK artists now feel emboldened to sing about similar things.

If you want to do the deep dive into BTS there is an introduction video by Taylor. It’s a little long, but BTS fans will tune in by the hundreds to watch people react to it. Mostly because after seeing it most people finally get what BTS is about. BTS Does about half a dozen genres of music. You might like Black Swan or Fire, or Mic Drop better. If you like Black Pink, another boy group you might like is Stray Kids. They have a similar energy. Try God’s Menu or Maniac. 😌
BTS is AMAZING lol. I just laugh because of how good they are both as artists and human beings, it's crazy. First, I fell for their music and artistry. I fell in love with Jungkook's voice. Their songs are BOPS. And they are super talented in songwriting and producing department. Namjoon's pen is INSANE! The rap line is the best in the industry. Holy moly - here we go! This was me (Texan, 54 y.o., wife/mom of 3) seeing/hearing BTS by accident on YT four years ago. My song was 'MIC Drop' and I was instantly hooked despite never listening to pop or hip-hop/rap (I am a lifelong alternative rock fan)....I also did a deep dive and never looked back, I'm in BTS/ARMY for life.... It's because I don't know anyone else doing what they do - all the music genres, rap, vocals, amazing choreo, often seriously deep lyrics, being good people with hilarious personalities who share a deeply loving brotherhood amongst themselves....No one else in music has all this to offer. There's that one picture of BTS where they were sitting in a living room and all of them were sitting one couch glued to each other, like they can't go a day without feeling each other's presence one it's so cute. They've lived together for like a decade and now have their own homes, they've went through a lot together as well (from the underdogs to the biggest), so it makes sense.
Also there was a time where one of the members had to be absent due to surgery for his crushed shoulder (accident from 10 years ago, that he didn't fix and hurted him for years and years), and they were going around everywhere in interviews, award shows, lives with a picture of him cuz they wanted him to feel included, they'd call him with their personal phones to deliver speeches from home when they win awards, can't go a day without mentioning him.

I've listened to K-pop since 2013. Blackpink and TWICE were the first girl group I listened to all those years ago. Good choice on watching "ShutDown". That song's scenery or sets is a combination of all their previous videos, so if you like that one. You'll surely be entertained by the previous music videos. I've been an Army for 7 years and let me tell you they are SO special to me. They actually saved my life with their messages and content when I was going through a really hard time. They are really inspirational and they just have brought so much comfort and happiness to my life. 💜BTS is actually my favorite artist. Idk I just feel they are so unique and special. When I listen to their songs, read their lyrics and watch their performances I can really feel their passion emotions and sincerity and not a lot o artists that can do that. BTS is a 7 member group who is now in their 10th year with a 350+ track discography largely written and produced by the members themselves conjoined by their inhouse producers. The leader 'RM' has 210+ credits making him the youngest most credited artist in Korea and the rest of the members are not far behind. BTS is known for being extremely profound at articulating what they introspect and composing it into the sound they with their artistic knowledge believe will deliver the emotion of their lyricsm. They began with their roots in hiphop but have experimented their way into currently having above 10+ genres in their discography with the main being hiphop, pop, r&b and electronic, but majority of the time its a fusion of these genres, or their subgenres. Like latin pop, old school hiphop with boom bap, rap rock, dance pop, ballads, emo hiphop, jazz etc. Since they articulate so well, their music is very human oriented adressing extreme mental health issues (all they way from comforting, motivating, to eery delivery with raw mvs that youtube asks for viewers discretion), sociopolitical commentary etc. Their discography shows the growth from school boys to the tribulations of youth, to addressing temptation, to reaching maturity, to loving onself, to finding the core essence of the mind (i work in the field of psychology and i have yet to find an artist that is as profound as bts in accurately potraying psychological themes) to fighting the pandemic to now doing solo albums as each of the bts members complete their mandatory military. They will come back as a group in 2025!

Watching reactors fall in love with bts is one of my favorite things! They are so amazing and talented. I’m sure so many ARMY will fill you in but you definitely want to put on subtitles. All bts MVs have them. It’s pretty common to use a mix of English and Korean in their songs so subtitles will help you understand. And a lot of their stuff is pretty deep. You can also find a lot of content on CZcams that will tell you about BTSs story and about the different members.
And those vocals that you commented on were for sure him. They do occasionally use auto tune, but mostly they use it as an audio effect, Like a distortion peddle to a guitar.

Cool reaction! Most K pop videos have English Subtitles if you turn on the closed captions, and and many groups including BTS are famous for their meaningful lyrics that once you read them, even if you are listening to that song in the car later, you still remember what the song is about and think about the meaning even if you don’t understand all of the individual words. You picked a good song to get to know BTS with. A lot of people start with their English songs which are more fluffy and we’re not written by the band members themselves, like most of their Korean songs are.

Seriously, they have covered heavy topics that other SK artists wouldn’t go near as they were taboo (mental health, injustice, etc), and thanks to them, more SK artists now feel emboldened to sing about similar things.

Hope you listen to more of both group's music, BTS does solo activities for now since 2 of their members are going to be enlisted for military, but they are still active, their latest album is Proof or Yet to come. And BlackPink released Born Pink album. Both albums have different vibe, you should listen to the albums. It's worth it.

mostly there's always a debate between Blinks and ARMYs on who is great.. but i feel both groups have thier own ways and style that can't be compared..
as per quality wise both are bangers..

BTS is special and is not the typical k-pop group as most will say. they rose from the bottom, to producing music in a garage, living together in a small dorm together and sleeping in one bedroom, not getting much opportunities to show thier talent, being mocked to becoming the Biggest Boy Band On The Planet ✨ they worked hard hard!!

If you want to do the deep dive into BTS there is an introduction video by Taylor. It’s a little long, but BTS fans will tune in by the hundreds to watch people react to it. Mostly because after seeing it most people finally get what BTS is about. BTS Does about half a dozen genres of music. You might like Black Swan or Fire, or Mic Drop better. If you like Black Pink, another boy group you might like is Stray Kids. They have a similar energy. Try God’s Menu or Maniac. 😌

BTS is AMAZING lol. I just laugh because of how good they are both as artists and human beings, it's crazy.
First, I fell for their music and artistry. I fell in love with Jungkook's voice. Their songs are BOPS. And they are super talented in songwriting and producing department. Namjoon's pen is INSANE! The rap line is the best in the industry. Their singers are so versatile, diverse, and unique.
Their personalities too😭 They're such good and funny people. Their relationship with each other is so healthy as well. They really GOT MEEE. I never knew I would be this invested in a boy group. But BTS.... they have me on a chokehold. They are perfect😭

I know in some past concerts and productions they've included almost every language on the big screen including multiple african languages which i didnt even know until i was watching multiple reactions at the time and the African reactors kept pointing out their languages. I was like wow they went the extra mile cause they could've just used 1 language but nah. They also always give credit for their inspirations
